Splitting a DVC Resale?

Has anyone ever tried or been successful in offering to purchase a part of a DVC resale to get the amount of points that they're looking for?

I.E. We're looking for a small resale at VWL (b/w 60-100 pts). And there are some that seem to be sitting on these boards for a while, wanting to sell much larger shares such as 400. Is it possible to ask them if they'd sell 100 of the 400 points?

Any feedback, as always is appreciated.

I think the amount of points go by contracts. If the contract is 400 points you have to buy the whole thing. If they have separate contracts then you can buy 200 and 200. The best for you would be to buy 25-50 points resale and then do Add Ons -thru Disney. I might be wrong but that is what i think.

No - as Trvlprincess said, each contract is a set number of points. Disney won't allow the contracts to be split into smaller amounts (which is why when we buy through Disney - we insist on multiple smaller contracts, rather than one large one each time we add on). Of course, for an initial purchase through Disney, you need a minimum of 160 (at time of posting!) so it's only for add-ons that you can do what I mentioned.

But yeah - for the resale boards, what you see is what you get!
