I'm not very good with computers, and have had a wireless network at my house and work for years, so, I have no idea what I need to "hook up" to the internet access in the resorts, anyone know if I need to bring anything to connect? Thank you in advance.

In-room internet connections are via ethernet cable at WDW resorts. The DVC units have an ethernet port in the wall (usually by the table in the studios) and an ethernet cable in a hanging bag on a hanger in the closet. Attach the ethernet cable to the wall port and to the ethernet port on your computer then power up. Open your browser and it will go immediately to the log-in page. Click "connect now" or whatever the obvious response is, and you're in for 24 hours! It may look like you are going to be charged, but it shouldn't appear on your bill.
At moderates (and possibly all cash resorts), the cable is already connected to the wallport.
You can bring your own cable if you prefer. They provide a 4-6' one, which confines you to the area immediately near the ethernet jack.

Is there only one internet connection in the rooms? I"m surprised there isnt wi-fi. Does anyone know if there is wi-fi anywhere in SSR? we are bringing 2 laptops.

Diva, bring your router. You can connect it to the port in the room and then connect to your own router either via wi-fi or via 2 cables.
