Thought I'd post this in case anyone is interested.
Your DVC ownership is a deeded real estate interest just like owning a home or other piece of land. As such, the deeds are considered public record.
Orange County has the deeds on-line for owners at the 5 WDW-based resorts. You can search for your deed here:
http://officialrecords.occompt.com/wb_or1/or_sch_1.asp
Enjoy!
Oh, and since these are public record, don't be surprised if you start getting solicitations from other timeshares and/or companies wanting to buy or sell your timeshare. It's not because DVC has sold your personal info, rather it's because there's just no way of fully protecting you.

I checked mine out, its cool. Our name is listed 2x too. I think one is for the mortgage and the other for the deed itself.
Luckily I haven't recevied any solicitation.

Hi Folks... my first post, but i wanted to chime in here. We own a title company and can shed some light on what you see. It is indeed for the mortgage and the deed that you see your name twice. You *may* also see it again for a satisfaction of your mortgage and as a sale of your ownership if you ever sell. The mortgage is a direct item (something *you* signed), while your deed is filed as an indirect item (something conveyed to you). It's just a way to index to make things easliy retrieved.
The solicitaion comes in when companies hire what we call 'flippers'. These folks show up and check the index for timeshare owners, then pull the deed books and 'flip' through them to get to your deed and then copy your address for their client. The rate can be from a quarter to a dollar per viable name and address.
You would not believe the number of 'same' names we come across all the time. Try John Smith. A nightmare! I've almost made it my lifes work to encourage everyone to be sure to use a middle initial or their whole stinkin' middle name!
BTW, we are BWV owners since 2000, active on DVCtalk and glad to be here!

HI Becky! Thanks for the info! :flowerfor
We just had a big problem up here with the mortgage and deeds being on-line. Seems our county was putting them on the internet and left peoples social security numbers on them for anyone to see! So, as you can imagine, people are a little upset their identity is compromised.
Welcome to Mousesavers too!

To be fair, it's not *all* the countys fault, although they should be more diligent and use the white-out liberally. Some banks have the social security number line preprinted under the signature line, and most people don't even realize it's going to public record when they fill it out. The banks should change their forms (it's in their best interest!) and county should be sure to white it out prior to recording the documents. It's a no brainer! :idontgeti

Thanks! :)
I just checked ours online... there is deed (D under type) a mortgage (M) and a satisfaction (S). If there is an asterisk to the left of the name, it designates the 'from' party meaning something we signed, a direct item.
We have a home in Polk County FL and will be moving there permanently later this year. Our county here is still in the dark ages, so it will be nice to work in a county that is online.

We got a timeshare solicitation last week, but no one has offered to buy our DVC interest yet.
