View Full Version : Longtime DVCer... now to MouseOwners

Hi all,
We've been associate DVC members since '93 and have had our own membership since 2000. Our honeymoon in '94 was the first trip to OKW on my parent's original membership.
I've been a long time member with infrequent bouts of posting over on the DISBoards, but the commotion over there in the last month finally made me go looking for other forums. I'm glad I found this board.
We have decided to add on to our membership in order to have some points to rent and help pay for other vacations (or more add-ons) and to allow us to have bigger units when we do travel to DVC (we now have two daughters - ages 3 and 6).
I'm very pleased to find a board that is supportive of renting instead of merely tolerant like DISBoards.
I've changed my userID from what I used on the DISBoards, because I had used my real name way back when, and have since decided that I'd rather not do that on internet message boards.
It's great to see Greenban. (or Greenbanned :). I missed his input at the DISBoards. I was in the middle of trying to complete a point transfer transaction with Tony back in '06 the day that Member Services changed the enforcement of the transfer policy. I never was able to complete the transfer, but I ended up callign on Member Services for my one time exception to the banking rules and saved the points that were distressed anyway.
Glad to be aboard here.
Ted
Welcome Home! Glad to see you here.
Pull up a chair, there's Yuengling in the fridge, and enjoy the company.

I'm sure I will feel at home here.
The thing that finally made me want to get away from the DISBoards was that I realized that if Richyams was still around, he would almost certainly have been banned by now.
Rich was one of the funniest and most helpful people over there, but he was a bit (understatement) of a rabble rouser and could get very sarcastic.
That spirit of the DISBoards has died out.
Again, glad to be here.

This is such a true statement! :iagree:
I participate on both boards... but I do not think I am too controversial... so I have not been banned. I would be surprised if I was banned... but anything could happen I guess.
If I had to choose only one forum... at this point it would still be the other... even though I post MUCH more over here. MO just doesn't have quite enough critial mass yet. It is growing nicely... and I think it will get there... but IMHO... it just is not quite there yet.
OTOH... the S/N (signal to noise ratio for the non-engineers) on MO is much better (despite my posts LOL). So it is MUCH more efficient to follow conversations here.... and since everything of real importance is discussed on MO... it is easier not to miss something. There are far fewer threads... and the quality of disccusion is higher. On the other forum... I simply cannot keep up with all the discussions... so I dont even try.
Finally... one of the things that I like best about MO... it seems to be much less prone to trigger my allergies to pixie dust.

By now? Heck, he would have been banned ages ago! No way they would have let him been so much fun for this long!

By the sound of this post, you should be receiving a warning, or an official banning, momentarily. BEWARE, THEY ARE WATCHING AND DOCUMENTING ALL DISSENTING VIEWS.
Better go sign off on the Dis now, make your last post and be done with it.

No way... I was clear that I would choose the other site over this one... at least for now.
You are going to have me looking over my shoulder. LOL

Jim:
I agree with what you have posted above, except, many of the banees of banfest 2008, were non contriversial as well.
See you are thinking logically as an engineer. That is *NOT* tolerated at some other sites!

Perhaps we should start a ban Jim push.....
Forget Obama, Ban JimP in 2008
01.20.09 Belive Jim will be banned!

I think you need to spice things up over site.
FYI - I am not banned over there yet. But I was 5 points shy from being suspended in January. Plus got 3 warnings. And every case I was just trying to help others.

Don't you get it?!? Stop trying to help! It is against baord (or board, if you're not lesdyxic) policy!
Sheesh! :goob:

LOL, and I was one of the banned who did nothing wrong, except post on another site they didn't like. I admit some of the other sites I have found are much nicer and full of more open minded people than on the DIS.
Welcome though :)

That's the one. Though I am on a newer one that I know they'll hate too ;)
I'm new to various dvc/disney boards, but MO is my favorite. Always full of useful info and funny too! I am curious though, what do you do(say?) that gets you banned? I can't figure out what would be so bad to write about

Welcome to MO, I am not a great poster but I kept reading post in my hubby shoulders when he is browsing here in the board. He is a bit busy this time and not have a chance to look around. But Welcome home... this is a friendly neighborhood board. Everyone wanted to have fun exploring WDW and etc....
I am not a great poster but ....
Now, now, none of that negative stuff here...now just look yourself in the mirror and say, "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh darn it people like me."

The air is certainly much fresher over here. It is very nice to be able to actually discuss something without wondering if I am going to get into trouble. I don't learn anything on disboards anymore except how to get banned, oh wait, I learned that on undis.

I'm glad to see so many familiar faces from ********* over here. I was wondering ******** it would take ********* to chase ******** away for doing ********* and ********!
We should all say thanks to ********* for being so *********! I personally found my way over here after I told ******** to ********* ******** ********. While I was never banned on *********, I'm sure my point count put me somewhere close to double-secret probation.
Happy Holiday Weekend, everyone! And welcome to MouseOwners!

Who knew?
I certainly haven't "resigned" from the other site, and I am grateful for all the help I got there while trying to make my first purchase, but I am finding myself over here most of the time - with the occasional foray back, just to see what's happening.
I guess I wasn't trying hard enough, but I never had any run-ins with the board's administrators. There were just some folks over there who seemed so mean-spirited and negative, and if you called them on it, there were other folks (who usually seemed nicer) who would jump to their defense. I just don't like it when people are self-important and condescending...and some of the posters over there have their photos in the dictionary, beside those words.
