I am starting this thread with the first day that my toe was injured. Here on day one:

I heal remarkably fast for an old woman. Here, two days after initial injury (Ian says to label this as day 3).

Day 4, after being gravitized by air cast:

Day 5: It hurt like @#%$#@ from being stepped on, but the additional bleeding relieved a lot of pressure in the toe and it started feeling better very quickly:

Day 13. And here it is after trying a shoe all day *I will be wearing sandals for awhile longer. This was not a good experiment:

LOL - Well they are certainly more appetizing!
I have a bizarre sense of humor. Three months after Ian and I married, I fell and broke my leg while we were walking up at Cape Flattery - I was less than a hundred yards from the most Northwestern point in the contiguous 48 states when I feel off of the boardwalk. I fell about 3 or 4 feet and landed oddly on one foot causing an X fracture.
The Indian EMTs got a game gurney and hoisted me out to the point where I was put on a back board and hoisted up into a helicopter by the Coast Guard. I noticed while I was being moved around that Ian had stopped taking pictures. I asked him to please document everything. When the nurse got out to the point and she saw him taking pictures of me, she told him that he should not be. I told her I had asked him to do so. For one thing, it gave him something to do that he normally enjoys and the main reason was because I wanted to see what everything looked like. Because I was strapped down on the back board, I could not see anything except the blue sky above.
When the young, fit Coast Guard EMT landed (he took a cable down from the hovering helicopter - I don't think that would be rapelling because he wasn't pushing off of a wall) he looked at me with a very concerned look on his face. I said to him, "You do not need to worry about me. I can do this with no problem. I am not afraid of heights, I will follow your instructions, and I never panic." He was relieved, told me what to do, hooked me up to the cable and I got hoisted out of there - free swinging on the backboard on a cable. I regret following all of his instructions. One of his instructions was to close my eyes.... I wish I had gotten to enjoy being hoisted up! When we landed, he told me that I was the first person he had ever lifted out that was not in shock but had lower blood pressure than he did. It was 120 over 58 --- my normal. HB was 60 beats a minute, again what was normal for me.
The only way I got to enjoy that experience was from Ian's photographs. (I wish he had taken more of the coast!)
I love adventure! Even if it is sore toes at WDW...

WOW Elaine what a trooper.
But I have to say this is why I don't like to go barefooted or wear open toed shoes when I'm doing any type of activity in crowds or rides.
I love my Keens and now my new pair of FiveFingers as I do like the feel of being barefooted.

I am so happy to see how quickly you are healing!
Even able to put the positive spin on the 'air cast' + 'gravity' = 'pain' situation!
And how Kewl was your airlift event?!?!?!?
I'm suprised the EMTs on the ground didn't have a tagline on your basket to prevent the spinning, unless of course, you like the teacups?

Nope - no tag line. I believe that was the reason the CG wanted me to keep my eyes shut! He did not know I am a maniacal tea cup spinner!
