Folks, friends & others,

Friends have suggested a trip to WDW over New Year's -- looking at 5 nights with check-in on Dec. 31 -- would have to be a 2BR at SSR if we're going to make this happen, I'm thinking.

Now that the 11 months window is more than well underway, what are the chances of getting such a thing at SSR for this busy period?

I don't think you'll have any trouble. There are almost 400 dedicated 2Bs at SSR and that many more lockoffs. Even for a night like NYE, I doubt that many people rushed to book right at 11 mos.

Good luck!

He was there to teach Ellen a few more things about energy. She really wants to one up that stupid Judy.

Phoned MS late this morning and booked New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in a 2BR @ SSR without a problem. When our friends get their vacation schedule in order I'll feel more comfortable about borrowing the points from our 2007 UY for the remaining 3 nights.

Regardless of whether they end up coming (even though it was their idea), we're going. We'll get DVC discounted APs for our March trip and also a DDE card.

We'll be the "proud as a peacock" DVC members showing our friends just what an amazing place Disney World can be.

Add to that DD's :Princess: 7th birthday :birhdaypa on Jan. 2 and I think the seven of us :mrmouse: :earboy: :msmouse: :msmouse: :Pirate: :Pirate: :Princess: will be fairly hard to miss.

It really is a "spur of the moment" trip -- hard to believe that statement when it's now late February and we're going in late December.

Our friends are DD's godparents and her "cousins by choice". We have offered the Disney Vacation Club experience but nothing was said then. A phone call last week with a suggestion from her godfather and the innocent question "What are things like at New Years?" and here we go.

I know what crowd levels will be like, but I'm just glad we're going and get to take some friends with us.

Neil,

Depending on what you want to do for NYE, you may have to check in December 30th instead. If you're planning to celebrate NYE in any of the parks, you run the risk of Disney closing the gates and not letting any additional guests in. Since you may not be able to check in until 4:00 pm, you have to give this some thought.

We celebrated this past NYE at Disneyland. We got to the park early and did not leave at any point during the day.

.
You can check into the resort hotels anytime that day, regardless of when a room is ready. You get your keycard coded with any information you need (like tickets) and then call for the room assignment later in the day if your room isn't ready yet. Isn't DVC the same?

The only glitch I could see here would be arrival time of the OP.

We have the reservation starting on Dec. 31st -- no problem at all booking that. We'll be arriving in the area on Dec. 30th and will check in on the morning of the 31st. If we go to a park, we go to a park -- no worries here.
