View Full Version : 2009 Plans - which resort??

The mission if you so choose it: Pick my home for my 2009 trip.
Background: Have a mission to stay at all the DVC resorts at least once. So far tackled Saratoga, BWV w. BW view, and AKV w. Savannah view. And oh yeah 2009 is 10th wedding anniversary, so I am trying to make this somewhat romantic. Will just be the 3 of us this time (DH, DD and I, no friends). First wanted to stay the week before Memorial Day in May, which is the actual week of my birthday and anniversay, but possible life issues may get in the way for that time (work conventions, DD dance recital). Sooooo.......next option go in January like we always do (and I am not sure if I can wait until May anyway). Love January for the low crowds and better weather then PA. Also we will be going to Universal for at least one day.
Resorts: Looking at Beach Club (for the pool and closeness to Epcot) or OKW. Also debating studio vs. one bedroom.....with relation to worthiness for the amount of points. 7 month window is coming upon us.
So tell me the good and bad and what you think I should do.

How about Vero Beach? Nothing more romantic then strolling on the beach at sunrise/sunset with the waves rolling in the background.

How about VWL? It's very romantic.

I see by your ticker that your DD will be about 4-years old next January. I think that she would have a BLAST at Stormalong Bay in the shallow sandy end. She might also like the kiddie slide (on the back of the big slide entrance on the lagoon side of the sidewalk). She can go down that one with her lifevest on.

I love OKW - but for a relaxing, nor romatic trip. I agree with DVC Mike that VWL is very romantic.
(Also very romantic are the Poly and the GF is you don't mind blasting through points).
Just my 2 cents.

Heeheehee....that is a good one. Thank you, that is a good suggestion......but not for Mrs. Handa (that would be me). One little secret, you could not get Handa to a beach if you gave him the winning Powerball ticket.....OK maybe if you gave him a very BIG winning Powerball ticket.
Yes I married an amusement park freak and so have become one too. Hence, DVC. WDW was honey and babymoon......romance for me can be holding hands on the TOT, champagne in France, or one more ride on POTC.
Also good suggestion on VWL, but wanted to hold out on that one for a Christmas season trip.....woodsy lodge and Christmas just go together.

In that case, go for BCV. I agree that the pool there is great ... and your daughter will LOVE it.

BCV for the may trip. You want to enjoy that pool. Plus the flower/garden festavial at Epcot. BC/YC has a beach.
for Jan might go with OKW in a 1-bedroom. for romantic go for walks - or over to the Polyn and walk along that beach.

You should try the VWL. The lodge is beautiful and romantic. It is one of our favorite resorts. Enjoy your trip wherever you end up.

Beyond resorts, I think you should get a 1 bedroom... it is worth the extra points to be able to put the little one to bed and having some alone time together in the other room! (Mine's 3... I've been there!)

OK. Decision has been made. BCV Studio end of January for 9 nights. Being near Epcot again and the cool pool will be very big pluses......now just waiting to make the reservation......

We have always had a "beach" bug. Normally we go to Myrtle Beach to satisfy our beach needs. We did just go to Vero a few weeks back and absolutely loved the resort and beach. I won't buy there, but do plan on going back again. It is definitely in a class by itself in Vero or any other ocean side location. I will highly recommend the resort to everyone who is looking for a place to get away and relax!
