We saw two Cirque du Soliel shows while in Vegas. Ever since I saw La Nouba, I have been a huge Cirque fan. Thanks WDW for turning me onto more really great entertainment. Cirque shows are so difficult to describe, but I'll try. Here goes:

MYSTERE - This was one of the best Cirque shows I have seen. The music was haunting, with two women singing with beautiful voices. The stage itself was interesting, as it often disappeared into the floor. Smoke and steam flowed throughout the theater, hiding the actions on stage as the sets were changed. As always, the acrobats were amazing. They had four people hanging from bungees doing some amazing things. There were two men, beautiful men I might add, who were doing balancing exercises. They were both so strong, totally bulging muscles. The smaller guy seemed to balance himself on a finger resting on the base guy's toe. I'm sure I must be exaggerating, but it seemed that way to me. Absolutely amazing. This show had the best clown, an older fat man in a baby costume with a huge daiper and ruffled bonnett. He chose some lady from the audience as his MaMa, and bugged her the entire show. Just don't get popcorn. I saw one clown go throughout the audience and turn their popcorn onto their head. They also had huge puppets that were amazing. This huge snail took up the stage. It was very pretty, with cool purple colors. These were just my favorite things. This was the best show I saw. Mystere ticket prices are less expensive than Ka, the newest and top Cirque show there. We didn't see Ka, but I can say this was well worth the $.

ZUMANITY - This was Cirque's venture into the adult show. 21 and over only. This was really interesting. First, they had a very different drink and snack bar. Not just the usual popcorn (I assume the other shows have.) All of the snacks and drinks were named after an aphrodesiac. They had a chocolate delight and some fruit and cheese. I had a French Passion. It had Vodka, Pineapple Juice, Passionfruit Juice and other things. It was SOOO YUMMY! From the moment you come in, you know this is different. The lighting is red. The hallway outside the theater has little holes, like a peep show. The cast members are mingling (slinking) around the halls giving every passer-by sultry looks. All of the CM were beautiful or handsome. After you are seated, CM's continue to mingle, and the clowns inevitably get someone on stage. As for the PG description of a totally R rated show, it will be kinda hard. Still great music. Still great acrobats. Kinda creepy contortionist. The Master/Mistress of Ceremonies was a 6 foot plus drag queen. Really pretty, too in an Elvira kinda way. If you are squeemish about alternative lifestyles, take a pass on this show. If not, you will have a blast. Don't be suprised if audience members flash their girls. Happened twice during this show. It also showed the beauty of sex no matter whether you are classically beautiful or not (ie. obese chicks, old farts, a midget that just happened to be a really short buff guy that was an amazing arial acrobat, a he/she.) Great male exotic dancer. My absolute favorite. Again, these were just my favorites. There was so much more.

Thanks for reading everyone. I suggest Vegas to anyone. If you do go, make sure to see one of the Cirque shows. They are awesome.

Do you know if "O" is still there with the stage that is water?

"O" is still there. We will probably save that for next trip, though. I hear that you can see the stage both above and below the water. I'm sure I will like it. Weh chose not to see it this trip, as we were only doing two shows, Mystere has had such great reviews, Zumanity just seemed so odd yet cool, and someone told me (might have even been CB) that "O" wasn't as good as the others because you can only do so much under water. Anyway, I can't wait to go next year.

Niki - I love Cirque and it is good to hear that the shows are different enough to enjoy two of them in the same trip.

I saw your first installment of the trip report, but I cannot find it now. Can you give me a hint about where it is? I would love to know where you were staying, where you ate, etc. I have not been to Vegas in several years, but there are frequently CLE courses there that I would like to get to if I knew what to do (other than study) while I am there.

Thanks for writing!

Elaine, look in the non-Disney trip reports. This is the fourth installment. It seemed like every time I tried to write it all out, I was just too tired. The first installment includes the hotel and our sleepy time-share rep. The second tells about gambling and golf. The third is about the food and spa. And, well, you have read this one. I'm glad you are reading this. I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested, as Vegas is not very Disney-like or family friendly.

I have always considered doing some CLE here, too. I will be going there next May or June, not sure which. If there are any CLE there then, maybe we could get in some CLE requirements together and meet up. I know DH will totally be in for any CLE that have a spa nearby. Last year, we went to do CLE at a resort spa where we got spa discounts. DH was the only man in the CLE course. As long as he got the credits and spa discount, he was OK with it. I have already started looking for some while I'm there for a friend's 40th B-day.

The only really disappointing thing about Vegas is, again, the food. I have already convinced DH that next time we need to spend more $ and make some good reservations. This year, we just didn't plan enough in advance for food and didn't hit some very nice restaurants. Oh well, there is always next year.
