Are you allowed to bring things like bottled water and snacks into the parks? I know many amusement parks don't allow it, as they'd rather sell you something than let you bring your own. Just wanted to know for sure, as it will affect what size backpack I bring!

Thanks.

we've always brought in bottled water and sometimes snacks. we freeze a couple of the bottles so they keep everything else nice and chilled for the complete day.

I bring bottled water into the parks as well as snacks and PB&J's for my daughter. She is a vegetarian and I can't always find stuff for her to eat.

We bought a backpack especially for hiking and such for our days at the park. It comes with what they call a blatter. It's a pouch that hold quite a lot of water with a tube coming off it that hangs down the arm strap with a valve at the end. The hole to fill it is pretty big so we fill it with a lot of ice and water...ehlps keep DH cool on those hot days as well! There is room in the backpack part to put other items as well. Would be great for snacks and such!
Enjoy!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm glad to hear we can bring some things in - makes life much easier when I can easily give the kids a drink (especially my son - a real wimp in the heat.....)

Sounds interesting. Any idea where you got it or who makes it?

We almost always bring lunch in with us - sandwiches, water bottles, fruit, etc. Like BJFOSS, we freeze the bottles the night before and they help keep things cool for a while.

There are park rules about glass containers I believe and certainly about alcohol. If I can find them, I'll post them here.

More than likely... it is a bladder. ;)

May not be exactly what you needed concerning food, but back in September our fellow MouseOwner, Doombuggy, summarized the rules on coolers. Thanks again Doom!

Here's your cooler policy for theme parks & water parks:
Disney Theme Parks
Full-size coolers, with or without wheels, are not allowed.
Coolers smaller than 24" length x 15" width x 18" height (which mirrors the large locker size) are allowed.
Coolers will be inspected for glass and alcoholic beverages which are not permitted.

-- Disney Water Parks
Coolers are permitted including wheeled coolers
No wagons are allowed
No glass containers or alcoholic beverages allowed
No storage area for coolers is provided

FYI If you have a Costco Membership you can get a case of waters delivered to the resort for a song. We brought the sealed bottles into the parks and those individual "to go" Crystal light packets. It worked out great because my kiddo's don't do soda and there is only so much lemonade you can drink.

I know this is totally random but we have been told at two different theme parks (not Disney but worth noting) that you can't bring cheese into the park because of a health code thing and we had to throw away those pre wrapped string cheese sticks.

Huh? That is a strange one.

We actually picked it up at Bass Pro Shops right there in Orlando but you should be able to get them at places like EMS or anyother hiking typw store.
It's called a camelbak. http://www.camelbak.com/index.cfm
It has come in handy many times as we like the outdoors and DD2 thinks its just to coolest thing to drink from. Just make sure no one leaves spit behind in the group; DS needs to carry his own water! I'm thinking of getting his own whichfor kids can run about $35. the adults I've seen for $35-100 so far. Hope you find one you like, I know I've found a few!

Not all! There are also some amusement theme park rides (http://www.allthemeparks.net/theme-park-directory/) that allow bringing of foods.

I don't know what we would have done without a small cooler with little kids... baby bottles and sippy cups filled, chilled and ready to pop into a fussy little mouth!

I'm thinking of freezing juice packs now that the boys are a little older... and include some liquid ones too, so we'll have cold juice ready to go at different points in the day. The frozen ones will keep the liquid ones cool too.

I must say, for hydration reasons in the FL heat, it is nice that my boys are learning to drink straight water a little more often, so that should be a little easier on us this year.
