One of the things that I enjoy on a daily basis at work is Disney music. I love listening to music from the WDW Parks, no matter if it is the area loops, the ride music, fireworks shows, pre-show music to Illuminations, etc.

To find this music, I have purchased a few Disney CD's, the Official Albums, etc., but I also listen to streaming radio, and the one I have listened to mostly is www.Subsonicradio.com .

I was wondering if anyone enjoys this as much as I do. I also understand that they have brought back the make-your-own CD kiosks at WDW, new in the last few weeks, and you can get music there that has not been released. Has anyone seen these and used them yet?

I would love to hear of any other sites that are good sources for Disney background music. There is nothing finer than closing your eyes and listening to the music that plays when you walk into EPCOT, and all that music around the Tree of Life in AK.

We are all about Disney Music, and have several CDs we listen to. We got a great one when we were down this last time that has Sleeping Beauty, Cinderalla, Mulan, and Lady and the Tramp, and Mary Poppins all on one CD. Yeah, all my favorites! DH calls it the "Rozzie collection". We also listen to RadioDisney a lot.

Intrested in the make your own music Kiosks, does anyone else have some info on this??

I listen to Park Hopper Radio on Live365.com I enjoy it. It has a good mix of attractions from both DL and WDW including TV spots from the resorts.

We almost always have a Disney cd playing in the house atleast once a day. I put it on when I'm cleaning, making dinner....trying to keep kids entertained for a little while ;) But I was playing the music way before the kids came.

My car only has a cassette player and we used to listen to an older Disney World tape all the time (:Pssst: sometimes by myself in the car too!) One day DH broke it when he was taking DD somewhere! By accident...atleast that's what he says. :innocent: The kids ...ok me too, were mad at him! I have to admit it was getting worn out so it might have happened the way he said LOL

BTW, we also watch the planning videos/dvd's atleast 4-5 times a week and have actually worn a few out to the point where we couldn't watch them anymore. DD especially is always chasing me around the house with the box, yelling "disssey!!!" at me. The dvd is right up there with Baby Einstein for her! It's a good thing Disney makes them so easy to get :shhh:

I like the magic one on live365.

I kicked myself for not doing the make your own cd in 2000. I hope they are as cool as they sound.

We had a older Disneyland CD that we wore out :worried: (thought CDs wouldn't wear out). We now have the current "Official" DL that we keep in the car. I listen to it so much that the kids get sick of it, at least for a little while.

O.K., you guys, I had my one little streaming radio station to listen to and you have just gone and confused me all to pieces.

I went to this 360 radio and searched Disney and found all kinds of stations. :faint: :faint: :faint:

so, do you join 360 radio and then you can listen to any of them or what's the deal? I clicked on a couple of things and got an ad telling me about a preferred membership. Can you just listen without paying anything? I'm not cheap, especially when it comes to Disney anything, but, subsonic was for free and this 360 thing doesn't appear that way.

I also see a chance to "buy" music. What is that about? :help: :help: :help:

I started this thread to help share what I knew and boy did you guys put me in my place really fast. :holymoly:

Would you guys like to fill me in, it appears I can use all the help you are willing to give me.

I thought the same thing. I remember trying the 360 one a while back and all I remember were ads interrupting all the time. Is the only way to stop the ads by a paid subscription?

Most of the stations are free. I've been a paying member for about a year or so. I think it costs me $15 every 3 months, so $5 per month.

There are a few benefits of being a paid member:

1. NO COMMERCIALS. 'Nuff said.
2. There are a number of stations that are for paying members only. MouseWorld radio runs about 7 different stations, and most of them are limited to VIP members. Some of them run long feeds of the WDW atmosphere music (for example, the background tunes you hear, or don't hear, when you're in the International Gateway area).
3. VIP members get their stand-alone music player application at no additional cost. This isn't a huge deal since free members can either use their player or select another like MS Media Player. But it is a nice little radio-style app with one-click buttons to save your favorite stations.

I also see a chance to "buy" music. What is that about? :help: :help: :help:

Last time I tried it, whenever you clicked on the BUY icon, it would try to connect to Amazon and find a CD that contained the song playing. The service may have evolved since then. But I doubt you'll have much success with Disney tunes. Most aren't available on CD or on music download services like Sony Connect or iTunes.

Hope that helps.
Tim

Paying is the only way to get rid of the ads.

I've listened to Subsonic myself. One of the nice benefits of Live365 is that there's such a variety. There are at least a dozen free stations playing Disney Park music, and most have carved out their own little niche. D-Magic Radio, one of my faves, plays the entire Illuminations pre-show music and the show soundtrack EVERY NIGHT. Park Hopper Radio is almost exclusively audio from the actual attractions. MouseWorld has a lot of the atmosphere music.

I find it worth the small monthly fee, but YMMV. :)

D-magic is not too bad. Kind of like watching tv. I'd see what you can find for free and see how you like it. Thecommercials don't bother me, but I listen while working.

I can't wait to go and make my own CD's to add to my collection and put them on my ipod for the drive home from Disney. I love the park sounds and attraction audio it just puts me in a great mood no matter how bad my day may have been.

I have a compilation of about 7 hours of my favorite Disney music that is loaded on my laptop, my iPOD and my desktop at work. It's really nice to listen to my favorites all day at work and not have any duplications.

I just added the Cusco Flute Battle and Inca Dance from the Illuminations pre-show music. I still have a few more favorites to track down.

It looks to me like the 360 player that is free is not available for mac users. If I wish to download the player, I have to do the membership you purchase. Am I misisng something, or is that the way it is right now?

I've been a paying member for Live 365 and I've been happy about it. Really, when I'm listening to Disney music, especially if it's a show, I want all the music uninterrupted.

In order to use their "Radio365" desktop player, you do need to be a paying member. However, you should be able to stream the music to any MP3 player already installed on your Mac with a free account. Create an account and look under the "Listen Settings" tab. If all else fails, select "MP3 Player", and the audio stream should be able to locate a usable app already installed on your machine.

I am not a Live365 paying member. I use iTunes to listen to PH radio and it works just fine.
