DH and I are DINKS (dual incomes no kids).
We tried for several years but it just didn't work out for us. Now we've gotten to a point in our lives where we're ok with it, accepted it, and actually embracing our child-free lives. :D
Besides, if we ever get the urge to have kidlets around us, we have 18 nieces and nephews on DH's side of the family. :jawdroppi
Our biggest problem is finding others like us . . . :idontgeti you know overly disney obsessed, don't hate kids but just don't have them kind of folk.
Anybody else?

There are quite a few "DINKS". :) My DH isn't so much into Disney anymore, but I have many friends who are couples with no kids - and Disney obsessed.

I am totally obsessed with Disney. My husband, not so much. But he is very indulgent with me. We are childless by choice. And, I've been lucky enough to be close to my sisters and their kids. I love kids, and I LOVE the fact that I don't have the responsibilty and cost. As a matter of fact, I'm taking my niece, her boyfriend (his first trip to WDW), and their 2 year old son August 30th - September 6th.
Only 111 days to go!

Do we count as DINKS now that the kids are gone off on their own?
(Well, actually my daughter came back with my grandson but they are moving soon.)

So, I've had this thought go thru my head sometimes at Disney...
I really like kids... I see a child having a bad day. And, all I think is...
I feel sorry for the parents having to deal with that, knowing we all get tired and overwhlemed at WDW (and yes, even the adults can get cranky!). My final thought as I walk by... I'm glad they aren't mine. :)

Mr Kat and I are DINKs by choice. People ask me all the time why I go to WDW when I don't have nor want kids, I am used to it by now.

I guess we are DINKS, also.
DH's income is retirement income, though.
He's not NEARLY as obsessed as I am, so I do take an annual WDW trip SOLO for about 6 nights.
WDW Here I come ! Hurry up

We have 3 children ages 15, 16 & 19 and have been going to WDW every year since 1999. Our kids are now at the ages where they want to go off and do their own thing and not hang out with Mom and Dad. That is fine by us. We often shoot down to WDW by ourselves for long weekends and can't get enough of Disney and I am always searching for cheap flights. I met many couples last week who were DINKs and we all have the love of Disney in our souls. So never justify never explain while at Disney. Its great for adults too!!!

I'm a SINKS! Been going to WDW with family & friends since 2000 and love it! I also get the "You going to Disney again? For that long?" but I know they just don't get it yet. Some day I would like to have my own little one to take there though. But for now I have a nephew & niece on the way if I want to bring any kids. :cowboy: :Princess:

Hi "Ya'll" (said in my best faux southern voice cause I'm really a transplanted Jersey girl)!!!
Sorry, I've been MIA for the past week. Work has been super busy and then this weekend I've been trying to help my dad back in Jersey because on Thursday night he had a house fire!!!! He has no access (right now) to DSL so I'm looking things up for him on my internet down here in South Carolina.
Anyhoo, this is awesome so many DINKS!! Now I just wish you guys lived near us.
DH and I have the hardest time meeting others who don't have children and sometimes it'd just be nice to have some pals who don't have children and (more importantly) don't want children. Right now we're friends with one couple and acquainted with another couple and both want kids. One couple is waiting for an adoption from China to go through and the other is just plain trying (after two miscarriages). Which is fine, that's their business but for us it'd be nice to find another DISNEY loving couple, who don't hate kids they just don't want them, with whom we could pal around with.
Ok, I'd be willing to compromise on the Disney loving part a little but that's kind of hard. Because, DH and I do love it so much. We love going there and spenidng our money there and others just don't seem to get it and sometimes I get tired of explaining ourselves and our love for it.
I can share something cool, though, I do work with a pair of professors (they're married but have 4 kids) and they LOVE Disney as much as I do. I was walking in the door the other day and the wife was walking out and she had to stop me and tell me how they just got back from a weekend at HHI. Call me goofy but I just love those little moments of magic.
Well, enough of the book I'll catch ya'll later.

Amen SISTER! We really have no friends at all where we live. We stick out like sore thumbs in our neighborhood where I think there is somewhere in the contract you must have at least 3 children. Our entire community too is way into the whole 2.3 kid picket fence thing. Most of the time it doesn't bother me, but sometimes I day dream about meeting another couple that shared our same "don't hate kids, just don't want them" quirk.

We are Disney-loving sometime dink usually sink kid-liking-glad-we-don't-have'em couple!
I work sporadically (hence: sometime dink). We chose not to have children. We have nieces and nephews of all ages (from 3 to 30!).
I wish we had people around here that were more like you guys on this thread!

Oh boy! Before we had kids. DH and I kept going to DL almost every weekend when we lived there in San Diego. We stayed at Dana Point in our resort- little bit further in drive or just drive for a day and come home late evening. We have other timeshare and still we have it.... We had our 2-week honeymoon in Fl. As they said, where the honeymoon starts and then come back and come back for the wed anniversary.... Yes we did come back but with the kids LOL
We are also Disney fanatic family. DH realized it when we bought mickey head crocs for DD before our vacation of October last year. The nice thing, DD (18 months) loves to wear it, She kept saying croc or mickey. Even inside the house, she still wore it where I prohibited them to wear outside shoes inside the house. I got tired of cleaning wood floors, you can see the dust clinging on the side and it made me sneeze all the time.

We would love a Disney DINK (or SINK) meetup in WDW!
I wish we had people around here that were more like you guys on this thread! That's what I say too.
Like tonight, it'd be great to have a fun couple to pal around with. :bored:

DVC is the perfect DINK accessory. We have more "discretionary income" than our brothers and sisters (amazing what not having kids does for your bank account) but few socially acceptable ways to share. I can't just call up my brother and say, "hey - let's to to Disney World. Oh, and I know money's a bit tight right now, so I'll just pay for your hotel room." But with DVC, I can say, "Hey, I've got that timeshare and the points have to be used up or lost - care to go to Disney?"
My hats are off to all parents - you guys have a heck of a tough job. Meanwhile, I get to spend time with the nieces and nephews at Disney. If everyday was like that - and the toughest problem I have is getting deciding between Epcot and DAK - even I might be up for the job of parent.

We are DINK's also. We moved last year to AZ from MO. We left all of our friends and family and knowing no one, moved. I miss everyone in MO, but we love it in AZ. Plus we're close to DL and can drive there for weekend getaways. :woohoo:
We get the "look" sometimes, but it's all good :jumpingbe
DH and I are also DINKS that LOVE WDW! I guess I didn't realize how lucky we are. We have several other DINK friends who love Orlando, if not WDW itself. If anyone here lives near Chi-town we could plan a DINK meet to get to know even more DINK Disney lovers. I'm also in for a DINK meet at the World.

My handle gives away that we're not DINKs now. But, we went on MANY DINK trips while dating and after marriage before we had kids and took our twins for first time. We're both disney obsessed. Many people would scoff and ask us all the questions (to the point where I just wouldn't tell people where I went on vacation), but we got over it in the end. Do what makes you happy.

I'm a part of the DINK group as well. My spouse likes Disney, but not as much as me. I can thank my sister-in-law for my love of all things Disney. After staying with them at SSR and BWV with their DVC points I couldn't face the music of staying at a value resort at WDW so I needed to buy some points of my own. So, I'm new to the DVC and hope to have many trip to Disney various family and friends with my points.

We're DINKs! My husband and I are both big Disney lovers and we have no children. Granted, we are still fairly young but don't have any concrete plans for kidlets anytime soon. We love visiting WDW & DL as just a couple.

We are DINKs too (by choice). Can't say we are particularly fond of children, but we do love Disney, because WE can act like children again!
We are quite lucky that we have quite a few friends here who are also DINKs, and both of my brothers are DINKs (well, one is a SINK). Although no one loves Disney as much as we do. Of the two of us, my husband is the bigger Disney fan, but as the years go on, I love it more and more!
We typically go in September if there is ever a meetup!

We currently qualify as DINKs. The plan is not to in a few years (there's way too much to do first - like earn enough money to be able to afford them!), but hey, you never really know how those things are going to work out!
DBF is much less of a Disneyphile than me, but I'm bringing him round. He thought he was "taking one for the team" by agreeing to go to Disney last January, but by the end of the week, we'd signed all our paperwork! He was the one who suggested we attend the presentation!
Now planning next January's trip and flirting with the idea of DXDP. Reading those menus on allears.net is my sole source of food-related entertainment as I'm dieting at the moment :thumbsway
Oh, and noone gets why we went to Disney in the first place, let alone why we're planning to go back again and again. I don't think they realise that it's simply not just for kids, especially the time of year we go.
At British theme parks, there are super scary rides, and rides for toddlers. Nothing inbetween - you can't just chill through the Carousel of Progress, or feel nostalgic riding Peter Pan's Flight, and that's what I love about Disney.
