I'm correct in that we can specifically book a guaranteed room in that building, not just a request?

When can we start booking that building?

Is there a date yet as to when the building will be completed?

Will the points be the same for that building as well as having the same different categories?

Thanks!

Also, I'm assuming once this new building is complete it will be easier to get rooms in the Jambo building? Have they said how far the distance is between the buildings? Will it be hard to get over to the Kidani pool?

Looking ahead I need to book for the next Memorial Day, taking my side of the family. I could book BCV to be safe, but the points are either less or more depending on the category making switching out at seven months more complicated. I just don't want to wait for the seven month mark and end up with SSR or OKW. I wonder how fast Memorial Day books for DVC?

Thoughts?

According to DVC: "Members will check in at the location at which they are staying. The building in which they are staying will be confirmed at time of reservation."

Point charts are for AKV and not just for Jambo House or Kidani Village. Kidani will have the same booking categories as Jambo House, except for Value and Concierge (both of which will not exist in Kidani).

I called MS about two weeks ago with similar questions. I was wondering about booking Kidani for our summer '09 vacation. I can go in June or July but still wondered about when we might be able to book that. The MS rep basically told me... NOTHING! She said the projected completion date was spring '09 but with weather issues (she specifically mentioned hurricanes) said even that was not guaranteed. There was no hint of when and how booking might begin. She did say that owners would inevitably have SOME type of booking advantage but did not know how much... I hung up knowing no more than before I called.

I sort of gave up mentally... Figured I would make the 11-month plans at BCV and maybe -- just maybe -- I could luck into a Kidani reservation as they become available. If not we'll try for the following spring. I think if you are planning some type of family reunion trip, you'll have to do the same -- book BCV and try to switch later, despite the points weirdness. There's worse things than staying at BCV!

Obviously they can't start taking reservations until they have a pretty firm completion date, but the DVC CM at AKL told me Thursday night that he thought May 2009 was the likely date. He thinks the 11 month window would open in June, but if they aren't far enough along in construction to be confident of an opening date, I suspect you'll know more in the fall.

For the record, if you haven't stayed in Jambo House and can get in, I think it's really great - though I know only from AKL experience and not AKV experience.

Functioning adults will do FINE at Jambo House but with two swim-crazy kids, I am holding out for Kidani. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of an extra bathroom in the 1-bedroom as I am living with a teen daughter who monopolizes the bathroom working on her hairdo  I have a feeling Kidani is worth waiting for... Even if we don't really know how long we'll be waiting!

I'm just waiting for Kidani because I don't want to look out at the National Bird of China, the construction crane. :ROTFL:

We've been to AKL a few times now and loved it, the only thing I dislike is being far away from everything. I like to be close to the action. :lmbo:

We're staying in Jambo in two weeks in a savanna view studio. We're excited cause we've only had the pool view and human holding pit views before.

May 2009 Memorial Day is what I'm wanting to take my girls and parents. I want Kidani for the supposedly cool new pool they're getting. It is all about the pool to my fish.

Now when they say completion date is that for the entire building and pool? I don't want to stay there if there is still construction going on everywhere and the pool area is not done.

So, it is looking like I'll book BCV and then switch over and either lose a few points or have to borrow a few more...
