Hello everyone,
has anyone ever used points to go to Williamsburg ?
We will be going to Disney in Nov. For the summer I wanted to use some of my points for Virginia.
Any reviews,thoughts?
Thanks,
we are new at this.

I have not, but I don't see why it would be a problem.
What are type of accomadations are you looking for your trip? Where are you looking at staying? Are you planning on staying the whole week?

I did a little more checking and research.
I am not sure if you are looking for the summer of 2008 or 2009. For this year on Interval Internation I only found one summer week available for exchange, it was a two bedrrom.
So I went to Redweek to see what the rental inventory looked like and there was a ton of availablity. The price range for a two bedroom was $400-$1000 dollars for a week.
My advice would be to rent your extra points. Take the money and rent a room direct and take your extra money saved and have a really good time!

Point rentals are not that difficult.

We live in VA and do a Williamsburg vacation each summer. We usually stay at the Marriot Vacation Club at Ford's Colony in Williamsburg which has 1 and 2-bedroom units, very similar to DVC room layouts (full kitchen, dining room, living room, etc). We have a 2-bedroom booked in June and I think the rate is $270/night. It's a 5-10 min drive to Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, etc. It's a much better value for us to pay out of pocket for this and either use our points at Disney, or rent out our points as suggested. My only advice is that you have to book the Marriott pretty far in advance, especially for the 2-BR units which book quickly. You could always book a room and then cancel later (no penalty if you cancel a few days before check in).
The other popular place to stay for families is the Great Wolf Lodge, but I find that the rate is around double that of the Marriott for the same size room and since we go in the summer, having the indoor water park is not that big of a plus with Water Country USA right around the corner.
We have rented our DVC points on multiple occasions without any problem. There are tons of people looking to rent points from owners, and I usually get flooded with requests to purchase our points as soon as I post. There are guidelines available on the boards to help you through the process.
