I think I know the answer to this but want to check anyway. If i were to purchase a resale are my point values based on when I purchased the DCV or when the seller purchased the DVC?

E.G. In 2008 it may cost 12 points (Sun-Thurs) for a Studio at VWL during Adventure Season. But when the member purchased VWL in 2005 (just hypothetically) the same set up cost them 10 points. So as the buyer of their points are my rates 12 points a night or 10 points a night?

I hope this is clear.

BTW - as someone who's considering purchasing, MO is absolutely amazing and has answered a lot of questions and provided a lot of insight, thanks to all!

It doesn't matter when you purchased your DVC points. The same point charts apply to everyone. Everyone's point values are the same -- a point is a point.

One of the best features of DVC is that the point charts don't change. The charts for VWL have not changed since they were first introduced.

Disney does have the right to change the charts, but they cannot increase the total amount of points required to reserve every unit for every night of the year. That means (for example) if they decide to increase the nightly cost of a studio in Adventure Season, they have to reduce the points required for other times or rooms to match the increase.

Anyway, since DVC began, Disney has only done that once - at OKW. The changes were minimal. I really don't expect them to reallocate the point requirments anywhere in the future.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought that they changed each year, and when you bought in that was the point chart for you. But this makes much more sense!
