How far in advance do I need to do this?
And, any recommendations?

We called 1 week in advance a couple of years ago. Both GG and WGS were full and not talking new customers for our arrival day. Marge (WGS) squeezed us in.

I would try a couple weeks in advance. You can always modify (at least with WGS).

We used garden grocery placed online order 4 days before our trip but would not advise waiting that late their delivery slots fill up. Selected early morning delivery and grocery were there when we arrived at 1030 SSR. Bellman brout grocery with us as he took us to our room. We we're eating sandwiches within 20 minutes of being at hotel. It was GREAT. Since we got up at 400 am for our flight

Ps typed using blackberry sorry for misspells on bus to MK now.

I would definitely recommend around 2 weeks - the more we recommend these services the busier they get, and I think they are fairly small operations, which makes quick growth difficult to handle.

For the record, does anyone know if Garden Grocer charges you at the time of your order, at the time of delivery? I can't remember, but that would significantly affect your ability to adjust your order . . .

We are all getting so excited for AKV!! We haven't been since Dec of 06 and the wait has been too long!!

we ordered GG our last trip and paid cash when it was delivered (great service by the way), if you use the credit card option I don't know when it would be charged, at time of order or time of delivery. I would think they would still have to wait at least until they purchased the items because some costs (like deli items) are weight dependent and may vary a little here or there.

I am thinking of trying WGS for our Nov. trip, since it seems they have more flexibility, does anyone know if they will go to SuperTarget?

I highly recommend WeGoShop.com. You can call now and get on Marge's schedule but you don't have to give her your order until closer to your trip. You pay when she delivers. She is GREAT to work with and very flexible.

I think Marge will go anywhere you want. She does (or did) charge extra for additional stops if you want your shopping done at multiple locations.

I just talked to Marge and she said I could put in my order one week before but I can reserve my date now. So, I sent in the info. She was very nice.

I've never been so excited to buy groceries!!

Thank you everyone for your help!

Reviving an old thread here. I just put in an order with Garden Grocer, and wow, was it easy!

I see what PPs mean about delivery slots filling up tho. We arrive Tuesday 8/26, and today is Saturday 8/23, and there we only 2 slots available. Fortunately, one of them was the 6-8 PM slot, and our flight arrives around 5:30. I like the feature where you can pre-tip the delivery guy in case we're not htere when he/she comes.

I hate to sound like a lush but it didn't look like GG delivered anything with alchohol. Did I miss something? Does WGS deliver adult beverages? :cheers2:

We've never used GG so I don't know their policy but we have had alcohol delivered by WGS. On our last two trips we've ordered a 6pack of Corona and had no problems.

WGS was awesome!! They even found deals with buy one get one free for us which we would have never known and they passed the savings on to us. Excellent service!!

We just had GG and they were great. Delivered everything and phoned my cell twice the date of delivery. Once telling us they had a delivery confirmed between 2-4pm and the second call saying they were running about an hour late but they were on their way.

As far as alcohol, we didn't get it delivered but wish we did. I saw a few garden grocer deliveries at bell services and there were a few cases of beer. I asked the delivery guy and he said they don't stock alcohol, but if you call them, they will pick some up for you and deliver with your groceries. I don't know if there is an additional charge for this service, but judging from the price of beer at the SSR store, if there is a GG charge, it's well worth it.

I'm old and forgetful, but I think they added it in, but like I said...I could be wrong. That didn't bother me either as I didn't have to think about it. They called me and asked from what I remember as I used a CC.

I am originally from N'awlins so I was introduced to "fire water" at a young age (3) and am glad not to be the only one wondering about alcoholic beverages being offered by GG! It drives me nuts that up here in Yankee land they do not sell liquor at the grocery stores and I thought FL's grocery stores have at least beer and wine! Who do we call? Do we receive a call from the delivery guy the day of delivery to confirm and ask to stop and grab me a 12 pack of the "Beast" (MWB)?

OKW in 43 days!!

Thanks for the "senior moment" about tipping!! When you go to check out, GG offers the option of pre-tipping when you pay. I just did not know the etiquette for an amount, like the list they give you on cruise ships?!? On total amount? Guestimate as to number of bags $100.00 worth of groceries would fill? Darts at a Board?

And on a totally different but same vein, What is this tipping 18-20% on buffet dinners? This scares me as we are going down with a group of 6 + 1 infant and I think there is an automatic 18% on parties of 6 or more? I was always told that for buffets, you tip $1-1.50 per plate as the "servers" only bring out drinks and clear you plates?

OKW in 43 days

I'm pretty sure Fls grocery stores do offer beer/wine.

But if you are going with Garden Grocer, you can shop online and get an order number. Then you call GG at 866-855-4350 (I grabbed the delivery guys card) and ask them to add beer to your order. I can only speak to beer because I didn't ask specifically about wine or any other alcohol.

Does anyone know if they carry baby items like formula and diapers? With luggage cut downs, it would be easier to have them waiting for us:burn:

Thanks for the info and once I place my order I will call regarding the Beer.
