buying groceries at OKW

This is the first trip that we have done without any grocery shopping capability. We are taking the DME for the first time. Even with the dining plan, I do not want to be spending those valuable early morning hours sitting and eating breakfast. We have always shopped at a grocery store on our way in. We are going to be there for 3 night only - all we will be needing is cheerios, fruit and soy milk. I tried garden grocer, but they require a minimum order of $40 - a whole lot more than what we need to spend. Even with DH's 24 organic bananas we only get up to $29.

Are we going to be able to get cheerios and soy milk at Good's? The only thing that I have ever bought there is fruit. I do not remember seeing soy milk.

I definitely remember a good selection of cereal at Good's. I'm trying to picture in my mind the milk section...they had several but boy, I don't think I could say for certain if they had soy milk! How about a quick call to the MS staff at OKW, maybe they could "patch" you thru to Goods and you could ask them. Might be worth a try.
Does wegoshop have a minimum?
Have a great trip! Enjoy the sun. My friend just arrived at SSR today, said the temperature was 82 degrees! Sure beats the 45 degree weather here in Maine!

Just peeked at the member site, grocery list for OKW, soy milk is on the list, 11oz for 1.99.

Just do not expect a ton of fruit selection choices and DH will not be able to get his organic fruit there.

Thanks for the warning. DH eats 6 organic bananas per day. I think that we will just take these with us. Did you know that they put arsenic on banana peels to keep spiders off of them? That is the reason he will only eat organic bananas.

Yikes!

And with the fruit, any of the fruit that you can bring will be a good thing. They charge 99 cents for each piece of fruit there. So, that would be $6 a day just in bananas.

Ahhhh, you weenies!

A little arsenic never hurted no one.

It puts hair on your chest, and helps you walk the long distances found at OKW (Old people Keep Walking!) my favorite resort!

Also speaking of :dancingba organic bananas :dancingba , did you know that the inorganic form of arsenic (element 33 IIRC) is far more toxic than the organic forms of arsenic?

Once again, proof organic foods and/or poisons are better for your health!!!

miscellaneous arsenic tidbits:

Bananas do contain small amounts of arsenic; however it is what is known as "organic arsenic", occurring naturally in virtually all fruits and vegetables. The poison is not present in sufficient quantities to be considered a health concern.

Apple seeds are often thought to contain arsenic, but I believe they actually contain trace amounts of cyanide, not arsenic.
