For those of you that are OKW lovers and have stayed there often, do you have a favorite building in the resort? If you do, would ou mind sharing what you love about your favorite location? I have a couple, but no strong, strong, must-stay-in locations.

We always tried staying near the HH, but last trip we stayed in building 56. 56 is out by the walkway to DTD. Between 56 and 55 is a quiet pool. We loved the location. In May we are staying at OKW again and I'm hoping to get into building 55, room 5520.

We have stayed in #56 and #54, the one across the parking lot from #55.
Be careful if they ever put you in #56. We were there last summer and on the left side of the building as you face it. Our room was the last one on the left and our view was nothing but dense trees up close to the deck. The view out the side window was the road and you would hear the busses when sitting in the living area. You didn't hear them so much in the bedroom.
We like that general area with it being close to the bus, ice machine, pool, etc.

Our favorite, so far, is Building #15. It's close to the HH, but far enough away to be more quiet. And the view from our balcony was of a big water hazard on the golf course. So we got the best of both worlds. We got to watch the golfers as well as see the birds in the water.

I think it's building 55 (the one that Dianeschlicht raves about!)
There's the quiet pool behind it, and the canal beside it. I feel like I am walking in a neighbourhood rather than a hotel complex when I stay there. And someone usually falls in step next to us walking to the bus stop etc and we have a nice chat.
I used to think that I would like to be close to HH, but when we stayed that far out we actually walked to DTD several times. We did drive to Olivia's twice as we were on our way to a park anyways, but it would be a nice peaceful walk to the HH from there.
I'm a little leary of the buildings right along the main road - don't know if they get noise but I don't want to find out, either!
Views are so varied at OKW as well - I also like a fairway view.

We prefer building 64 up front with teh elevators especially when teh kids were small and in a stroller still what a pain that was in teh turtle pond area lugging a sleeping kid or 2 and stroller up the staris especially when you are on the 3rd floor.

Dec 2003 we stayed in bldg. 28 on Peninsular Road for a week, on the first floor. I don't recall hearing any noise at all from inside the room. The view wasn't good at all. It seemed we were almost underground. What we saw out the living room windows and patio was a slope of grass that led up to the golf course. You couldn't see the golf course, just the wall of grass, like we were one floor below the golf course.

Well I called yesterday afternoon to make my request for bldg. #55.
If I am able to book my night of May with my holding points at the 60-day mark, then we will be arriving early evening and I doubt we get our request. If I don't get OKW at 60-days out and we stay in a moderate, then we will check in early, early the next morning, and maybe get something in an area we might prefer, that's maybe, just maybe. We'll see.

Last time i was there i drove by 55 - it does look fantastic!
We really like 13 just because of the number and the location... 64 to watch the golfers and 62 to see which bus is coming next....
We've been in 13, 15, 64, 17, 62, 34, 28. 34 was probably the most boring. We are also almost always on the first floor - so the view from 17 was odd because it looked out to a bunker.

for me building 18 and 55 - but I LOVE water views....
golf views don't hold anything for me...although the birds are nice.
also got a nice view in building 14 on the 3rd floor....
studios views at OKW on the first floor you don't want period.... they are either handicapped or they are near the air conditioner units....
2nd or 3rd floor is much better!!!

I just changed our May ressies to OKW (from SSR)
I am doing something different this trip, and only requested NS, "quiet" area. I am going to leave it up to the good graces of the CMs at check in to humor me with a quiet area with a nice view.
I would love a water view, but after my last obsession (see my trip report) with views I got burned, so I promised DH I would do it this way this trip.
:grrrrr:
I am stoked to be staying OKW, ready to be in RELAX MODE! We so enjoyed our last stay there.....:ale:

We were in bldg. 63 studio top floor corner unit on our last visit- No view but the road BUT the convenience of walking right over to HH and the main entrance bus stop was worth it! :)

Just once I'd like a SHOT at a bldg near HH, LOL.... I say that because every time my sister or I would stay at OKW, we would ask for HH... and get Turtle Pond! It became somewhat of a joke for our upcoming August trip... do we dare ask for HH, and if we ask for Turtle Pond - then where might we end up?
Until this December (wherein my sister and her crew went over xmas and actually got rooms in Bldg 26), we both stayed primarily in the 40's bldgs... I recall having stayed in 2br villas in 43 twice, and also 37. Only other place we were ever given was a one night in a studio - we got bldg 29. That was my least fave.... not really near anything. Of course, maps warp your mind. For example, while 37 may LOOK like it's a hike to the bus - it WASN'T. I think I get obsessed sometimes looking at maps and such, and then I get there, and either it's because the distance isn't so great or that it's so nice, I just don't care andymore and it's just fine! Either way - I'm always pleasantly surprised!
NONETHELESS... just for the sake of comparison, I DID request "NEAR HH" on our ressie for August. We will be arriving fairly early on a Sat morning, with no pressing need to get in the room right away, so maybe... just MAYBE... we will, if nothing else, be given the OPTION to stay near the HH for a change?!? My sister really liked the rooms in bldg 26, but I'm kinda hoping we could have a shot at bldgs 11-14...the proximity to the activities, HH, bus, main pool, etc is appealing. But what are the odds of getting THAT? (And would we like that location? ANy cons to staying in these bldgs?)

I've stayed in buildings 30, 32, 33, 35(all those were in Turtle Pond), and 50. I've enjoyed each one so far. I've generally had good views. 32 & 33 had really nice views of the water & golf course. Building 35 had an ok view from the first floor but, a bad view from the higher floors. (Tree grew right up there).
Building 50 (Southpoint) had a very nice view of the golf course.

For me, I have to be at least at Peninsular Road. I enjoy being immersed into OKW and I love going past theSassagoula river every day.

We love the Southpoint buildings for the quiet and the access to the pool, plus the pretty views in some. We love the Turtle Pond area because we so enjoy that pool, and the snack bar with it. We have been in #55, #56, #35, and I think #42. Enjoyed them all! #35 is nice because there is water out back and you are right across form the bus stop. Also, we have often stayed in a ground floor studio and never been assigned to a HC room.
For what it is worth, I was once assigned to #49 which is probably the WORST location available -- close to the road, not right on a pool, and far out. We had a BALL... Even this humble location had its charms. It had particularly nice landscaping out front and it was close to a bus stop. I swear at OKW every building has some benefits. We love it there!

Colleen, building 49 is actually surprisingly close to the Turtle Pond Pool. there is a little pathway that runs along there and form that building, it is only a 2 or 3 minute walk to the turle pond pool.

Our favorite out of three trips to OKW was our first stay in Bldg 62. I think we loved it best because of being on the water with the birds and such. We were also very close to HH and we liked that too:lovestruc

Leftcoaster, we did find that path -- on close to our last day there! :)
