if i have an 8d NE MYW which retails for $351, will i be able to change this to an AP with DVC discount, which would run $348?

i know disney will not downgrade, and i know there are no refunds. because of this, would they let you "upgrade" something that has on paper a higher value?

thanks

paul

Being you are only talking about $3 I would think so. But better to ask the mouse directly!

When I was there in Dec. '07 I upgraded my family's 10 day park-hopper ticket toward the end of our vacation to an AP. We had just joined DVC half way thru our vacation. What they did is ring up my tickets for full price (I had gotten them a little cheaper than buying them at the door) and then they gave me the $100 discount of the full price. I just paid the difference. This was about $380 for a family of seven after they gave me my credit for my AP.

I had purchased an AP for myself and had activated it on Dec. 3rd. On the 12th, when I was there to upgrade the tickets for my family and get the $100 discount on the AP I already had, they reset my pass to expire on Dec. 12, 2008. So I got an extra week, which is really handy since we are planning on going back the first two weeks of Dec. and checking out on the 12th which is a Friday. :D

Has anyone else done this recently? I am asking because we bought 10 Day park hoppers from UT and I am thinking of do the upgrade toward the end of our stay so we could get our next year’s trip in on the same tickets. I am just asking because this is not what I am reading from other sources, they say it would be set to expire on the first day we used the original tickets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i'm thinking tink lucked out, because i think your AP is going to start the first day you use your tickets, even if you upgrade later.

but hey, maybe you'll luck out too?

Good question. No answer here. What I would like to know is why DVCers can't buy the "Seasonal Pass" like Florida Residents can. When I lived there, I did every year and its $100 less than our cheapest out of state pass.:scratchch

Hey burcs check out this site it should answer most of your questions http://allears.net/pl/apass.htm. We have 8 day tickets for Jan and plan on making the up grade and that gives you the option of getting a Disney Dinning Experience card and that will give you 20% your dinning cost including BOOZE at most Disney Dinning spots :ale:

I agree I think they just lucked out or the person doing the upgrade did not pay attention. Now my delima is, do I wait until the end of the trip to do the upgrade and hope for the best or should I do it when I get there and get the Tables card to get discount of food while we are there. We are also going in June for only a few days so the upgrade is still worth it but I was hoiping to get 3 trips out of one AP. :dancingba

Upgrades will always start from the date of the first use of the original ticket.

As with everything, checking with Disney will give you the most definitive answer (as long as you talk to a CM who actually knows), but here's my try.

Disney will give you full credit from one ticket to another when you are upgrading (the new ticket is more $ than the old). However, this is only available for 14 days from a tickets first use (not its purchase). Even if you have the non-expiring option, I understand that the 14-day window is the only time you can upgrade it. An AP upgrade is supposed to be backdated to the first the use of the original ticket. So, it doesn't matter whether you upgrade on day one of your visit or on the last day.

You didn't ask this, but just in case someone is wondering: the cost of adding a NE option to a ticket is based upon the original number of days on that ticket, not the remaining number of days.

Disclaimer: as usual, I think I am right. Even so, I might not be as right as I will be in the future.
