At the 60-day mark, I am going to try and book a 1-bedroom at OKW for 1 night. If that is not available, I will go for a moderate, as it is the first night of our trip and we get in late and it would use up all but 1 of the points.

If OKW is not available at the time I call to reserve it, can I book the moderate and be put on a waitlist for OKW?

No, you can't do that. Once points are used to book one of the options outside of the 7 DVC resorts, they become classified as Reservation Points. Reservation Points then cannot be used at the DVC properties.

You could go from a Moderate to a Deluxe (non-DVC resort), or something like that. But you can't go from non-DVC to DVC resort with the same points.

It was the answer I was expecting, but not the one I was hoping for.

If OKW is not available when I book, I may just need to transfer them to my contract that has a later Use YEar so that I have longer to use them. I dunno, I have to think about this one some more.

Maybe I will have lots of :dust and OKW will be available right when I call the end of March. Not gonna hold my breath though, things like that don't normally work out for me.

Sending :dust I would think 1 night at OKW woul dhave fairly good luck, though. Maybe it's the most popular night of the year, but I doubt it. ;)

well, it's a Wednesday before Memorial Day weekend, so I dunno.

I would too, Jaysue, but I was just thinking that I may not be able to get a studio at the 60-day mark for a weeknight before a holiday weekend.

I think you should be able to get a studio somewhere in one of the DVC's since you are open as to where to stay

cheers

Well, today, was the first day I could call to check on booking my room with my holding points. And guess what, I got it. You guys said I would, but I was concerned because it was so close to a holiday weekend. That pixie dust really came thru, thanks a bunch. :handshake

So now we have a total of 7 nights at OKW in a 1 bedroom without having to move.

One question though. I am using points from different contracts for different nights and the nights are all linked. In the past when I have had a linked reservation, I have received more than one confirmation. MS said today that the confirmation no. from the first night will be the main one and that they are sending me one confirmation for the whole time. Does this sound right?

That sounds right to me. Your situation is comparable to doing a day-by-day booking where they keep the reservation open until all of the days have been added. Then you get one printed confirmation. At least that's the way it worked when we did it once. Maybe they're just getting better at dealing with people who have to call multiple times to add days.

Glad to hear you got what you wanted!

I guess I thought I would have two confirmations because the points are coming from two different contracts and two different member numbers.

Maybe they are getting better at this, I just thought I remembered it the other way in the past.

Yep, that sounds right. When they know in advance that you are adding to a reservation- just like tjkraz said- they will hold the reservation until they know you are finished and send one confirmation.

Sounds like you were able to work everything out as you wanted. Now you can just look forward to the trip!
