DTD news???

Recent news I've just been told.
Some friends had been robbed in West Palm Beach and made it out with their lives! Most do not. After hiring a lawyer they were given this info.
In the last year 6 women have been raped outside of Planet Hollywood. Apparently, Disney has paid dearly to keep it quiet.
Have they done anything to prevent this or come up with some security measures. This is really scary! Especially to be happening in a place where we go feeling we're safe.

To put it mildly... Your source is undoubtedly wrong.

Reports of crimes of this magnitude would be in the public record. I think the local media in Orlando would have picked up on this, considering the way they trumpet every time Tigger backhands a kid. etc.

As to Disney's magical power to keep bad news out of the news, you might look into the rape allegation made by a Disney Cast Member last year wherein it was reported a female CM was gang-raped by male CMs at their company-owned apartment... The Orlando Sentinel and local TV carried the story prominently. The allegation turned out to be false. Somehow, I imagine the folks at Disney wish that story had never hit the wire---but they didn't/couldn't stop it.

I also know Disney has one the the BEST public Relations departments. They probably cannot keep everything out of the public :chat:knowing, but I suspect Public Relations does their job and keeps it quiet. :shhh:

Yes, I am on both web sites(just like you). I didn't know there was a problem with me asking for the same info on both. If there is I am truly sorry.
It was their lawyer (the hired for the mugging) who told them this (rape info)after finding out that they had recently joined DVC. I am questioning it b/c my Mom is wanting to know my cousin and I will be safe if we decide to venture to DTD on my next visit. She asked me to write this on these two threads I'm on to see what everyone else thought.
Being the good daughter I listened to DMom and posted it.
I too agree with everyone and don't see how anything can be kept out of the news these days. (which you may see my similar comment on the other site, sorry)
I am glad to read that others feel that it is a bunch of dust blowing. Again, sorry for posting in 2 places, just following Moms orders.

You should be fine - pay attention to your surroundings, as you should anywhere.

Also, I envy you! I've been trying to get my DH to move to FL so we can work at Disney. On our honeymoon I had him pretty close to filling out an application there. Maybe some day:sunny:

One thing to remember with Disney is that for the most part, secrets do not stay secret for very long.
If those rapes had happened, it surely would've leaked out at some point by now.
