So I have been home a few days, and it is time to get this thing typed out. I am not a very good trip reporter, so continue at your own risk...
Friday Feb 3 we got a early blast off, but ran into horrible weather about 0000 local time, so pulled off into Ocala. I was driving, Scott was dead asleep, and was going about 45 mph with the driving rain and trucks trying to run us off the road. So the $49 deal we found at the HOJO in Ocala was a welcome treat. The room was clean in the dark, and we got up first thing at 0630 and left. Can't complain there.
Sat Feb 4 Checked in at 0800 at BCV, and I didn't make friends right off the bat. I had printed off Mouseowner's room reports at BCV, for some insane reason, I was obsessive about our view. I knew we probably would not be staying at BCV for a very long time, and wanted to have that "cool" illuminations view. The checkin girl was not amused. I was very nice, and polite of course. Just requested non 1st floor epcot view, oh yeah, and NS. Boy, I am a pain sometimes. She did find us our studio, and it was ready. She lectured me on how it would never happen again, and not to ever expect it in a not so magical way. I gave her that one. I would have been annoyed at Ms. roomprintout also. So we get settled into the studio, grieving not being in a 1 BR all ready. Oh well, we are at the happiest place on earth!!! Well my obsession over my view came back to bite me, as we were right on the road, and it was NOISY. I think we all learn things about ourselves and I learned I would rather have a DUMPSTER view than a NOISY view. I like my quiet. Live and learn, right?
BCV-awesome resort, and we really took advantage of the close proximity to Epcot, spent most of our time there. Never did get 1 "welcome home". That's okay though. We will stay here again sometime, but I have to say, I really spent a lot of time missing SSR. Home is where the heart is, and vice versa. I can see why BCV is so popular, SAB is just incredible. We loved watching all the kids have a blast. They must have been from the artic circle, because it was :brrrrrr:
Off to MGM. The dance competitions were going on, and it was more crowded than we expected. We still walked on with min. waits to RnR and ToT. Went got coffee at the Writers Shop (we love it there!) and browsed around. Left and went and had some drinks at Martha's Vineyard, then on to Epcot. More drinks, and counter service at Mexico, dessert at the bakery in France. It was so cold! :brrrrrr: Watched illuminations from our balcony. Nice. But still too noisy to have a glass of wine and cozy talk.
Sun Feb 5 Off to Segway first thing. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be, and I soon became the lame duck at the back of the line. Going uphill was hard, I kept thinking I was going to tumble face first. DH had a blast, it was a lot of fun, hopefully when we do it again, I won't death grip the handles from fear. Oh yeah, and not accidently run over the instructor on the practice hill in the learning gym again. :dunce: I needed a nerve calmer after that. My strawberry Sparkler in Germany did just the trick. Went back to MV, had some Kungaloosh's. Soon it was time to freshen up to meet nono and for our LeCelllier dinner afterwards.
Had a blast with nono, and her DH and her precious Leilani! Let me just tell ya'll, this sweetie, was the most precious thing we have ever met! So cute and so much personality!! Actually had DH and I talkin' about changing our DINK status. And that has never happened before! LeCellier was awesome of course. I had the mushroom filet, that place just rocks. Never a bad meal there. Ever.
Mon Feb 6
AK early entry. Run, I tell you, Run to EE. The ride is awesome. We stood in line for about 45 min. as it took a while for it to open up for some tech difficultys. But so worth it. Exceeded every expectation I had in my mind. So smooth, and the imagineers really gunned it up. The theming is excellent. DISNEY MAGIC at it's best. We ended up riding it 7x that day. Lots of lines for it, and FP's run out usually before 11am. Speaking of 11am, it was "beer thirty", and time for the FlameTree BBQ, met nono and her group there and sat on the water overlooking EE. I think the best spot in any park for lunch. JMHO! Great lunch with new friends, beer, EE, and the most precious baby. Great day! I don't know what we did that night, oh yeah, maybe it was 9 dragons? Yeah. 9 dragons. Very good. More WS. More drinks. etc.
Tues Feb 7 The most perfect day at MK. Bright sunshine, chilly, not a cloud in the sky, and it was empty. Rode all our favorites. Some multiple times of course. Lunch at Casey's, snacks at every turn. It was a perfect afternoon. I don't ever remember a afternoon like that one. So happy to be there, I would tear up sometimes. Yep, I'm a goner. Left before Wishes, as then it really got cold. I forgot my gloves and ski cap. yep folks it was that cold.
Wed Feb 8 don't remember. But we had a blast at the happiest place on earth. I am sure I spend tons of money somewhere, and I am sure I have a lot of great memories to tell about it someday. Just can't remember right now. LOL, sorry. edited***okay, this was the night of our "french date". Went to Chefs, had a excellent meal with excellent wine, and then snuggled through our private viewing of impressions de france, pretending we were in another life, while the rest of Epcot crowded around for illuminations.****
Thurs Feb 9
Epcot again. Did MGM in the am, and walked over to Epcot to finish up. Lunch at Rose and Crown. Very good. Nono called and wanted to go round' the world a few times. FUN! I am thankful there were no walk up add on booths that night. :ale: Somehow ended up at ESPN zone. Had a yuengling. We split up, and we ate at Alfredo's. Not good meal there. Then again, we had sobered up, and just stared blankly at each other over $20 lasagna with a new found hangover.
Friday Feb 10
Last full day. We were very mellow and sad. Didn't feel like running like maniacs all over the place. Went to MK first, and said our goodbyes there. Said goodbye to PoC. I can't believe it is going to be closed so long. Savored every second on HM. BTW, We found a great insiders Imagineering book at the Writer's Shop at MGM on HM. Everytime we ride it, we compete with each other on how many new details we can find. After 100x's of rides, we always seem to find something new. Did Splash in the cold, had our own boat, and had to get a pic of that. We were bundled up like artic explorers so we wouldn't get so wet. That picture cracks us up.
Never made it to Tom Sawyer's Island this trip. But something funny happened. It was OK. I finally feel like it is ok NOT to do everything every trip, that we have the next 50 0dd years. DVC is the best. We finally are out of our commando mode, and this trip, we really spent a lot of time just savoring the sounds of sights of parks, not running like freaks to ride to ride. Okay, we did run to EE. But remember---you have to run to that!! :p
Sat Feb 11 Packed up the truck, then hit AK at opening. Ran to EE. Again. Okay, this is the deal. Cut through Dinoland. We beat the masses everytime. And 80% of the masses are now running to EE. At least the days we were there. Stacy is now doing EE on the in resort show as the 1# must see. So the secert is out, EE is open, and everybody knows it. RUN!
Had flame tree one more time, and went and said goodbye to our precious naked molerats. And our beloved Gorillas. And our precious parrots. I just love AK.:beatinghe hit the road at 11am, and was home at 7pm.
Depressed as ever, so hard to leave the most wonderful place on earth. :(
