View Full Version : Hi! New here, another banned member from DIS...you know

Hi everyone, just found this site, new here, I was told it was founded by former members of the Disboard that had been banned so I'm hoping I'm OK in telling you this. I have been banned from Disboard as well, actually about 10 times;)
However, I NEVER broke the rules over there. NEVER, and I never received a warning before getting banned. I did get into some heated political discussion every once in a while, but never called anyone names or anything. I was also very helpful with people that needed info about Disney and Universal, and that was the main reason I was there in the first place.
What was soooooo funny about getting banned over there, was that it appeared to happen at least about 80% of the time, when I took a political stance against the Clintons, or otherwise made some (what I guess was perceived to be) a right wing comment against the Clintons. What was so funny about that is that I'm not even that conservative or right wing. I don't like the Clintons, true, but I don't really like the Republicans either, more of a libertarian, HOWEVER..........EVERY time I posted something negative about the Clintons it was an immediate ban.:veryconfu
I trust this site is more open, and would at least give you a warning before a ban, that is the courteous thing to do IMO. Anyway nice to be here, look forward to talking without fear of getting banned.:scary:

We are indeed more open as long as the conversation stays respectful and on topic.
Just for the record, not everyone was banned from the DIS - most of the founding members are still in decent, if not good, standing - but many have chafed under the iron fist and arbitrary actions over there.
Our guiding principals are that this is a Disney site, family friended, and that we ben over backwards to help new members feel comfortable and welcome.
So, we're glad you joined us!! See you around the boards . . .

Thanks, what was so shocking to me about my banning was that I NEVER broke the rules. I can understand breaking the rules gets you banned, but I didnt do that, and never got a warning either. Oh well, glad this is more open minded and will at least follow the rules. I think that is all most people expect. If the board says you'll get a warning before getting banned, that is all most people expect, to get banned W/O warning and for not breaking the rules, I think leaves a lot of people feeling.......disgruntled to say the least, oh well, vent over, thanks for listening.

Welcome Home.
I was banned from DIS for starting threads on how people should "raise their DVC rental rates" as they thought this was price fixing. No big deal and this clearly is not against their posted rules so I am now active here and TUGbbs instead of DIS.
We should start a permanent Sticky thread here of all the members that have been banned from DIS.
This bbs is much more open minded, but doesn't get the amount of traffic DIS does. I am actually happy reading less crap as all the hot topics and important issues are always discussed here in great detail.
I wonder how many people have been banned from DIS...it must be a large database by now.

You're a terrible horrible person. Obviously, you are a law breaking troublemaker for getting banned over there....

Please ask any Universal questions you like, I'll make my way to that side shortly. I actually know more about Universal than Disney because I've been there a lot more, more recently.
Unfortunately I've never even been to AK but I am going soon, that is next on my list. My last few trips we just never got to that park, but its a priority now that I've seen so much with the documentaries and things. It looks awesome.
I think the Dis baning scene is very strange and very destructive and kamikazi like. Just because they have a huge site now, doesn't mean it always will be, when people come here and some other sites. I can understand banning for clear rule violations but when banning is going on because of a political view, or some other whim with no written rule violation, you have moderators going bad and just banning people they don't like and who they don't agree with. But its just a message board, so I guess I take these things too seriously.

Welcome to MouseOwners!!
Home of the penalized and banished!!!
I have not been banned yet from the Dis, but did get a bunch of warnings. In January it got ridiculous and now I rarely post over there. The discussions here are alot more enjoyable and lively, without too much name calling.

What a bunch of sour grape LOSERS!!!!
If you got banned from the DIS, you must have deserved it.
To come over here and bad mouth, the great, even handed, and open minded moderators of the DIS, and their all inclusive policies is just childish.
Well, I never!
Next I guess you'll start besmirching height impaired Dentists and their usage of dental picks!!!!!

p.s. I saw your banning ticker Lefty, but could not believe it, what could you have done?
p.p.s. Any artists here who can create a banned logo-siggie thingee?

Welcome to Mouseowners.
I was banned for asking short and short sighted dwarfs to reconsider his banning of the DVC community forum. I was told that people who posted on that forum needed to 'get religion and jobs'. There seems to be little to no rhyme or reason for bannings; as for warnings...I was banned before there was a point system of warnings, but I guess I was warned when told to get a job and religion. But one day I went to post and couldn't get on-site. Never did have anyone actually tell me that I was banned, but no one could PM me, and I finally figured it out.
The recent spate of bannings seem to come from a different source than short dwarfs and seems to be big-ego/small member related as far as I can tell.
Luckily, there are so many other Disney related sites to post on, that I doubt you will miss the dis.:cheers2:

Not that I am a vindictive person, but perhaps we need to make an all out assault on their forum as a group of posters at an agreed time and date.
That would be cool to all start posting crazy stuff on one forum and see how many of us can get banned in one day.
They we can all be members of the "I got banned from DIS on May 5th" club.

Sorry, but people from another message board seem to be already doing this. It is really too much drama over there. People posting ridiculous stuff and trying to get banned on purpose.
Someone started a pitbull thread that people thought was serious, but it was a little far fetched. Then someone told me that it was directed to a particular disser. It's all getting to be too much.
I have not been banned and would be surprised if I did because I mostly stick to the budget board and only sometimes on the community board. It is sad to hear that people are banned for no reason, but I also don't think it is right to add fuel to the fire.

Sorry you got banned DocOck. I just went to Universal 2 weeks ago and even though I don't know your other user name, I am sure I got some good advice from you over on that section.
We had a good time in Universal, but I think my kids are a little young for it still. I was glad that ds7 said he likes Disney better. But he did enjoy it and since Universal, we have had to rent ET, MIB, and MIB II.

Well, there was one thread about the bannings that was barely left open. WMKathy told people to remain civil, etc. Well, she started to get snarky and I said to her. "I thought you told us to remain civil. Shouldn't that apply to you too?". Then, it was an instant ban.
I also some of the mods were PMing people earlier in the day still trying to blame the Undis for everything that happened when in fact, it was their own screw up that sent everyone on the Dis to the Undis.

Glad you still had a good time. There are still quite a few things for the younger ones there, like the Suess Landing area at IOA, I see a lot of young ones doing Spider Man as well, and the ones you mentioned, plus Shrek and the Jurassic play area, and the play areas at the old park, I have never done the Barney stuff, but I think there is a Barney thing or maybe its Jimmy Neutron I'm thinking about. (We have only done the older attractions stuff, except the Suess area, done that.)
We've done Universal too much lately so we are going to do Disney our next trip. I haven't done AK yet and I'm really excited about it. Its the only Orlando park I haven't done yet.
Webmaster Kathy=scary.
She gave me points for sarcasm-yes, I was punished for speaking the Community Board language.
Not banned yet but who knows what today will bring because the reasons for the mass banning-103 at last count- are unknown.
DocOck, we love Universal too! We're going back July 3rd.

Cool, let me know if you have any questions on Uni. My next trip is actually going to be Disney because we've done Universal the last few times.
You'll love Universal, it is as nicely themed as Disney but in a different way, and it is NOT a thrill park it is a theme park like Disney, the IOA park has some incredible themeing, with the Lost Continent, Suess Landing, you feel like you're living inside a Dr. Suess book, and Jurassic Park you feel like you've stepped inside that movie as well, really awesome stuff. The resorts are great too, and you can use your room key as an unlimited fast pass for all the rides.
This is all very funny and very reminiscent. I just read some of the posts on the Unoriginal Dis Troublemakers Club and so many reported being surprised by their bannings.
It's sad to lose a community you enjoyed for so long. When so many of us left after the Labor Day '05 uproar, that included moving the DVC community pages and locking the original Nothing Thread, it was very disconcerting. Thankfully, Kim started this site and welcomed all of us with open digital-arms.
It's a serious jolt to have any community make you feel unwelcome (cyber or otherwise) and it so very unnecessary. We all have enough stress in our lives. Dealing with jerks like Webmaster Doc just isn't worth it. An open mind goes a long way in life and publicly reprimanding others for things that hardly matter in the grand scheme of things is not a way to live.
So here's a hearty welcome to all the disenfranchised who are simply looking for a bit of levity while getting their Disney fix.

Not one of the recently banned, but I was really shocked to see everything going on. I am one of the boring posters over there.
Because of the brouhaha I found my way here and to the Undis.
I am questioning if I have just had blinders on during my time on the "lime green" boards!

But seriously, I was banned and warned several times for "being argumentative and sarcastic..."..... ME???:fresh:
Not a lifetime ban.... but until the end of the summer... good thing I rented out all my points prior to the ban!!!
It was interesting when I mirrored some of my posts from here on Dis. The reactions were insane disbelief to outright hostility.... never call the emperor naked over there... you will get lynched, hanged, drawn and quartered.... then be banned!!

Speaking of the Clintons: In a recent survey of American women, when asked if possible, if they would sleep with Bill Clinton... A full 68% said: "NO Way!" --- The other 32% said "Never Again!"
