View Full Version : Woohoo! CD's are finally here - come and be happy with me!

Hey everybody!
So my CD's finally came, and I'm so glad to see them in finished form. They look exactly the way they should, and it's such a relief! Of course now I have a LOT of CD's, so that's a bit overwhelming. My kids had a fire bucket brigade style thing going to move all the crates in.
So I just wanted to thank all of you who have "listened" to me through the whole recording/publishing process - you all have been great! Thanks for being a place I could go to chat, or to rant, depending on the circumstances.
Now to go and box up all the advances that are only three weeks late...

Bummer. Wish it were a hillbilly album. They are SOOOO much easier to make fun of. That whole lightning bolt thing has me a little worried when it comes to making fun of Christian things ;-)~
Just teasing.
Can I assume the name on the CD will be something other then "jnrrt" ? Otherwise you may be mistaken for some 3rd world artist and wind up selling six CDs.
What kind of Christian music do you play/sing/mime ? Contemp ? Gospel ? Hymns ?
Come on... more details. Running out of material.

Aww, it's kind of fun in a non-Christian kind of way to be the one making Viking squirm. Just a little.
No really, did I say that?!?!:flowerfor
Okay, sorry if this looks at all like an inside thing. I just didnt' want anyone to feel as though they needed to buy something just because we all chat here.
I do have a name, although I have been getting very fond of "jnrrt" - I was even considering it for one of RWeThereYet's bracelets.
I'll pm you the link to my site. You can see the cover art, listen to clips, get lyrics, read background stuff. Or, you can just find out the real name of the mysterious "jnrrt". My dh also set up a little code that will give people from this site a few bucks off - I'll send you that too.
It is contemporary Christian, fairly mellow, a bit to the alternative/rock side.
Any other questions, I'm back from errands and the dr. (ds is having surgery AGAIN - darn ears, but that's another thread), and so I am here to answer them.
BTW, Laura, are you still having trouble?
Thanks again, guys, you're DA BEST!

Really, posing for pics makes me feel like an idiot. We did discuss that in the nothing thread - no faster way to make yourself feel stupid than to try and look at hundreds of pictures of yourself.

So jnrrt. Curious. How many cd's did they send you?
Well, I started off with 1000. I'm just a little indie girl, don't you know. Plus the price break for over 1000 versus reorders did not make it worth storing more than that in my house and this way I get to make a little money back before I have to spend more. It's an expensive proposition, don't you know. But, I've sold about 100 since yesterday, and I haven't advertised anywhere yet but here, kind of, and word of mouth. We haven't even sold any at my own church yet, and my whole choir's on the cd. It takes (as the nothingers know too well, so sorry everyone!) several weeks to get a reorder. So I may have to rethink my strategy.

Viking,
We actually had a big discussion about that - where to sign? Half of ours (signed by other people) are signed on the disc, half on the cover, and hey, the disc had more room, so it won.
Of course, now I've had requests about WHERE to sign. Hmmm. It's all getting more complicated all the time.
Carrie, I hope you get yours tonight!

jnrrt,
I've had a lot of fun joking with you about your CD, but after having listened to it I have to tell you you did a great job. The words are powerfull and it's great to listen to a song and actually be able to understand what the singer is saying. The tonal quality of your voice is exactly the style we enjoy, ( Linda Ronstadt'ish ). Too many Christian female artist sound like chipmonks - very immature voices.
It's a beautifully done CD. I hope you can get it out to some radio stations because people need to hear what you have to say. Of course, you will need a bigger supply of CD's.
I'm looking forward to your next CD..... looks like it will be out sometime in 2009.
Oh... and I also know what jnrrt stands for ;-)

Viking, thanks for your very kind words! I'm so glad people are enjoying it. Sometimes it's very hard to be objective about your own work, and it's nice to have the reassurance that people are getting it and liking it.
As for the next one, I don't know, but if this goes well, I may do a small Christmas thing. Of course, I'll have to start it in July, but then I could get it done for the holidays. I had some Christmas things I'd recorded, but didn't think they should go on a general CD.
