I hope I have put this in the right forum? Apologies if I haven't!

I understand that if you recommend someone to join DVC, Disney offer you an incentive. I have no idea what these are so if anyone knows I would love to hear!

During our first visit as DVC members in February of this year, we had some friends who were travelling with us. They have always stayed in a villa off-site.
They visited us at the BCV and also at SSR and fell in love with DVC
 They had heard us going on and on about how great it was and how we were so glad we had joined. Anyway, we arranged a tour for them and they signed up straight away!

Our DVC guide explained that if we lived in the US then we would have been entitled to an incentive, but due to international law, because we lived in the UK we didn't qualify :(

He did say however, that he would offer us something else, that's all we have heard. We have had no phone call offering us an alternative incentive. Does anyone know about how this works?

thanks, Claire

Generally you get a token appreciation gift of a couple of $200 or so. Normally you can take a credit towards your annual dues or a Disney Gift card.

Due to different laws, I'm not sure what they can do for you but I'm sure they have some way to show their appreciation.

DVC Members are their best sales tool. I think I can say that for the most part we'd refer people for free. But the little thank you is nice.

I know I actually ended up talking one person who wanted to rent a ton of points from me into buying instead. Instead of renting $3,000 in points, I got $200 off my dues. But she is now a new DVC member and is very happy that I showed her the benefit of buying!

It takes a while to get to the deal closed. My experience is that you'll get a thank you card then later on a referral gift.

Thanks for that information, I thought it would be something like that.Like you said, it's not about getting any money. I was thinking about being very cheeky and perhaps asking for some fastpasses ;) like the ones they give you when they take the tour! What do you think?Claire xx

Never know what they'll offer you. I think that a fast pass would be a nice thank you for having friends take tour even if they don't join.

Besides, you SHOULD get extra credit for traveling all the way from UK to see THE Mouse!
