DH and I decided that we need to venture out in the world, as most of our vacations the last few years were to WDW. We got a great offer from HGVC for a few nights. I also had to use my two free nights from the bad Hilton plumbing trip, so we decided VIVA LAS VEGAS!

Our flight from O'Hare was pretty good. I am really disappointed at the TSA. They have a problem with my hand sanitizer ( didn't even try as person ahead of me had it confiscated), yet DH was able to get on with two lighters and some nasonex. I have gone into O'Hare a couple of times, printed up my own tickets, and my ID wasn't even checked before getting on the plane. Really shocking.

Got to Vegas, got a great rental car upgrade to a Jeep Liberty. Nice vehicle. The Avis people were very nice.

HGVC on the Las Vegas Strip is really nice. The staff was great. The rooms were a little small (2BR) but the flat screen TV, Bose stereo system, DVD player, big kitchen. All good. The staff was exceptional. Very helpful. They even offered to print up my boarding passes when a desk staffer saw us with our bags in the elevator. This has to be the best service of any timeshare I have stayed in. We like this place alot. The deli was great, too. Cons: no gambling in resort; only deli no sit-down restaurant.

Since we spent three nights on cash for $99, we had to go through the "owners review." In other words, we had to go through a presentation to purchase more points. I hate these sales pitches. The only good one was DVC. We received a breakfast of bland pastries and went of with our rep. As he began the presentation, he began to fall asleep. His eyes kept rolling up into his head. I thought he might have narcolepsy (?). At one point, he fell asleep for a whole minute. DH and I just stared at him. He eventually woke up, saying he had just come back from a bad flu bout. After he fell asleep a second time. I woke him and told him he needed to go home. I also informed him that we won't purchase more, just please get us outta there. He obliged. Being a lawyer that used to sell timeshare, I am a real pro at getting out of those things quickly. This was a record time. 20 minutes from breakfast till the closer said goodbye.

This episode was one of the funniest things of the trip.

My meds are kicking in, so I need to lay down. Will get to the really good stuff, like food, gambling, golf and 2 Cirque du Solies shows, tomorrow.

Love the sleepy timeshare salesman! Where did you sell timeshares? My sister talked to one of the Marriott salesmen at the Marriott near Sea World and he said that most of the salesmen there make 80K and several make 300K. Amazing to me.

It's been over 20 years, so I don't recall the actual name of the business. I recall we sold two RCI resorts, one in Banff and one in Nassau. I didn't make that much $ when I sold there. Good enough for a college kid, about $25,000 a year for part time. I can believe that they make that much dough. Hey, maybe I should re-think this whole running my own law biz thing. I sure had alot more fun selling timeshares. Hopefully this time I could get hooked up with a more reputable dealer. My place was shut down by the Attorney General's office. We never really gave away the car. :tsktsk:

I sold real estate while I was in law school and I made less than minimum wage. I really did not excell at it! I did better at selling furniture when my office was destroyed by a tornado and my mother died six weeks later. I took two years off from practicing. It was great to stop and great to get back.

I was thinking about the timeshare sales thing too. Especially if it meant living in FL.
