When is it due to reopen? Any reports? I really want to go there next week, and I'd be so disappointed if it's still closed. When it reopens, does anyone know what will be different?

the Orlando Sentinel had a blurb on April 7th, that said:
Ghirardelli Chocolate Co., which operates a gourmet-chocolate shop for Walt Disney World, is shutting down for a couple of weeks for refurbishment.

Disney officials announced last week that the shop, located in Downtown Disney's Marketplace area, will be closed from today through April 24 for routine maintenance and updating.

The Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop was notable for receiving readers' highest rating among all Downtown Disney restaurants in the Zagat Walt Disney World Insider's Guide published in 2007; reviewers called it a "chocoholics' paradise" and the perfect place for a "decadent ending" to a day at the parks.


So, as long as they are on schedule, they should open today, and you'll be good for next week.

Thanks! Now I know that, even if they need a couple extra days, I should be good to go get my caramel sundae. Once anyone's seen their new [whatever changes?] please let us know what's changed.

Any reports yet? Panic is setting in here-maybe it won't be open on Tuesday when I go. Oh, no-it HAS to be open!

The refurb is taking longer than expected. It's still closed, and people there said it would be open on Monday (tomorrow - 4/28).

Thanks for the report. I'll even give them an extra day, if they need it. I want it open 4/29.

I was over there at 9 this morning (4/28), expecting to see it look ready to open at 9:30 but the fence was still up. I was back near there around 4pm, but didn't have time to wander over to see if anything had changed. The last I heard, it was supposed to open today.

Ghiradelli's is open! We were at DTD last week. We did not visit, but folks were enjoying the yummies!:woohoo:

have forgotten how good the ice cream not to mention the chocolate is here - and it is definitely in walking distance of SSR!:goob:
