I am not going to hobble the parks or the cruise on my crutches for 2 weeks so I am looking to rent a scooter thing for transportation while at the pars and out shopping etc.

We rented 4 scooters for a week in Dec 2003. I found the name of the services on the disABILITIES board, and I think it was Walker Mobility. You might want to check out that board for some really good information.
Our scooters were delivered to and picked up at OKW with no problem at all. If you try to rent on a daily basis from Disney, you risk the chance of them not having one, and theirs seem to run out of battery power a lot.
We left OKW one day and went to MGM, then rode the path all the way to the Beach Club via the BW and then over to EPCOT and back to the BCV and the bus back to OKW without having to charge up.
The scooters were wonderful to help lug our stuff and we really zipped circles around the rest of our party.

Oh man, I am not so sure but what I would be re-thinking that one very quickly.
She will be pushing not only you, but the weight of the chair, and everything that you guys decide to take into the parks with you.
Hope you won't be needing to go over that bridge from BCV to EPCOT, and there are the inclines at AK.
Whatever you decide, I am sure it will be the right thing for the both of you.

Yep I told her that. She wants me to hobble on crutches to the bus then to the park then rent a chair when we enter the parks LOL.

Well, when you talk some sense into her :Pokepoke: and you call to rent your scooter, make sure you ask for a scooter that has a basket and light on it. Not all of them came that way at one time. They may do so now, but that is something you definitely will want to have.

Besides, think of how quickly you could scoot about getting those fast passes. YOu could "run" all the errands and save her legs and feet. :D

LOL ya but she doens't see the plus side of it like that LOL. To her it means money taken away from trinkets and other things on teh cruise and when we go to BELZ and other shops LOL mind you I like the shopoping more than she does so it would be taking money from my shopping so she is trying to look out for me in that regard LOL.

Another man who likes to shop, wow. My hubby loves to shop, and we hit them all, so I understand that aspect.
Let us know how you manage with getting the scooter. You have some time to work on her about this.

Don't even try this! I pushed my grandma aorund DTD for a couple of hours, got one of my headaches and I was down for the night (we arrived at DTD around lunch time, and checked into POR later).
I rented her scooter from Walker and it cost around the same price as if I rented from Disney (which I would have had to do each day and at the parks only). Walker delivered the scooter to our resort (it was there when we arrived) and it was a 3 wheel, which is MUCH better to navigate than the 4 wheelers at Disney. It was easy (albiet annoying at times) to take the thing apart to get into the car. I would not have been able to take her to disney without it (she has Parkinson's).
Tell your DW that she should seriously rethink this issue. You both will have a better vacation in the long run, and neither one will get hurt!
