Hello, brand new to the boards. I am still considering a DVC purchase. What I would like to know is if you can break up your initial 160 points into several smaller contracts? Could I just buy 2, 80 point contacts or 4, 40 point contracts?

My understanding is No. Your initial purchase when you buy direct from DVC must be at least 160 points. After the initial 160, you can break up the points, such as 160 + 40 points.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will have to search the resales for the contract I want.

As usual, DVCMike is correct. For an initial purchase, one contract must be 160 points, it can not be (I.e.) 2-50 pointers and 1-60 pointer.

Add-ons can be 25 points if not financing or 50 points if financing through Disney.

Thus for my upcomming 500 point KoT/KFC, I can't do 10-50s if I title it differently, but if I keep my title info the same and do an add-on, I can do 10-50 pointers.

That's very cool! I wish I could afford that right now, but I think I would prefer GCV. Being from the west I have many good memories from Disneyland.

But seriously, why 10 - 50 point contracts? Why not just 20 - 25 point contracts? Is there some number of points that do not work very good for vacations or rental?

Is this what you are planning?

I also want to add-on at California and Contemporary, but have not decided the point total or breakdown yet.

That is a cool thing to know, can you add the points only to your home resort or any of them?

Once you have an initial contract, you can add on at any resort.
