What is the best way to get from Orlando Airport to the Disney Cruise. I've just booked our first one with Disney (Jan 3, 2009) and thought someone out there would have some good advice. :coolcar:

I thought you took a Magical Express bus to WDW and then take another bus to the cruise ship??? Maybe that is just for the people doing land/sea?

Everyone I know has done the land/sea and that's the way I understand it. We're doing the 7 day cruise and Member Services said the transportation was up to me. :worried:

Disney Cruise Line offers ground transfer from Orlando Airport to it's terminal at Port Canaveral. It costs $69 per person round-trip.

This is what we normally do. I know there are cheaper options, like rental cars and limo services, but we like the fact that we don't have to mess with getting our luggage.

That's great and what I was hoping to hear... Now how do I go about reserving the transportation?

I think if you want the Disney Transfer you can call DCL directly and they can set it up for you.
another option is: The limo company for transfers to Port Canaveral is QuickSilver. Their website is http://www.quicksilver-tours.com
You can check their cars, rates and FAQ's section on the site.

We are going in November and I am comparing prices between the group with this or in the Disney Bus. I might go with quicksilver since we want to get to the Cruise early to take pics with the characters and be the first ones at the boat and have lunch. When you go in the bus you go at their schedule and the load/unload process might be slow. You are also in THEIR schedule. We want to get there early. I read in the Passporter DCL to get there early, we want to beat the big crowd. I also notice the prices are comparable to the bus but with the convenience to get there in and out quickly.

Thanks for all the info guys! My husband wants to fly down the day before so taking alternate transportation might be the way to go... Plus I like to be early for everything! We're leaving in three weeks for SSR and we don't fly in till 5:40... What a stinker that's going to be! That's what you get for flying non-stop out of Maine :thumbsway

We are also going few days before the cruise BUT
we are going with quick silver (they will also handle your luggage). My travel agent at MouseEars Vacation recomended this. And I read in Passporter Disney Cruise Line that the Bus arrives around 1:00 or 2:00 pm (that is too late for us) We want to be there for lunch and there BEFORE they open up the counters.
Want to take pics with the Characters and be the first one to board the ship.

When I compare the prices did not look bad. Check their website and I think you can reserve but you do not have to pay until then. I am planning for them to come and pick me up in the Resort. We want to have breakfast that morning and have the SUV or whatever we need pick us up around 9:00 or so. My goal is to be in Port Canaveral by 10:00 - 11:00 with the Bus they go around picking up in different resorts to fill up the bus and then get there too late for us. We want to be there studying the model of the ship and be the first ones to take pics boarding the Magic and go strait to lunch. Then tour the ship BEFORE the big crowd shows up!!! :dancingba

I talked with my husband and he agrees. We would also like to be the first ones on to beat the crowds... Sounds like a great idea! Now if we could find a hotel in the area of Port Canaveral we'll be all set. That's better than staying in Orlando. I think they have a Radisson...

We're staying at the Radisson Resort in Port Canaveral the night before our cruise (we leave in 10 days). I've also heard good things about the Country Inn & Suites.

I think when we do the landsea we too will find alternate transportation. DH can't handle lines and crowds when he has a plan in his head. I'm going to have to remember this stuff. Ours is still in the makings.
