Great pictures! It was very strange to see an empty Animal Kingdom park in the first few pictures before you boarded.

The first 10 minutes of the tour had to be excluded, no pictures were allowed to be taken of the behind the scenes stuff.

It was very odd walking in and seeing no one.

One thing I forgot to mention was the Buffet breakfast after the Safari was great! A good variety of food. Fresh fruit, bagels, pasteries, two types of scrambled eggs, two types of sausage, bacon, hash browns, cinnimon coated french toast with banana topping, biscuits and suasage gravy, cereals, juices, coffee/tea and more!

Thanks for sharing these great pix.

The pressing question is: Was it worth the $$ and the pain of getting up that early? I keep asking DW when we can do it, and she is certain it's too much of a PITA. I just have to keep working on her then, don't I?

We get out of bed 5:30AM in the real world, during the week. For the Sunrise Safari, we set the alarm for 6:15AM. You have to check-in at the concierge level desk by 7AM. The tour leave the Resort for Animal Kingdom at 7:30AM. The cost is $55 per person (or about that) plus you need a park ticket. Robin and I both thought it was well worth the cost. The animals were so animated, playing and running around. The tour guide (animal researcher as he called himself) is actually one of the savanah workers. You get alot more detailed infomation about the animals, how everything works and the operations. Plus, the tour makes alot of frequent stops for picture taking and Q&A. We are going to do the Sunrise Safari again in October with the kids.

We were both expecting a blah meal, just a couple of items. We were pleasantly surprised with the food.

They will leave the food out until the last guest leave. We were there about 20 minutes after the last guest left. We were talkig to the two tour guides. The staff had cleaned all the tables and were just standing there waiting fo rus to finish. They did not begin to break down the buffet until we got up to leave.

is it also strictly for guests staying on the concierge level? DW and I are staying in a Savannah view studio for Memorial Day weekend. If it is doable, I would not mind trying to take the tour

Could stretch this out to lunch... ;)

May I ask why DD can't? If she's busy do it without her, it's worth it.

Oops. Just read from other post that DD is 2. My understanding and experience is that there is no age limit for the Sunrise safari.

Thanks for posting your excellent pictures!
It does seem that the animals are more active & visible early in the morning.

Is the tour limited to concierge guests?

Edited to add;

Answered my own question by reading your other thread!

Yes BTW, to anyone else wondering, you do need to be concierge guest for the sunrise safari!

When we were booking our trip and I was finding out all the benefits we all got excited with the SS but MS told me that there was an age limit. I don't remember off hand but it was above DD. DS who'll be 11 then was able to go so it was below that. I checked my notes and didn't write it down. ???

I hear a rumor that if the tour's not full, they'll let non-concierge book it just a day ahead. I'm going to confirm/deny this rumor when I stay at AKL in May. Has anyone done the sunset safari around AKL? That's the one I have booked and I was looking for reviews.
