As I just finished my $18 bottle of shampoo (I know, I know  :holymoly: :scary: :sosad: ) I was fondly remembering the days when I could buy L'Occitane products in the French pavilion at Epcot.
So, do you have any favourite non-Disney themed purchases which you bought at WDW or DL? Lsat year I went crazy for pendants and bought a number of glass ones from Murano in Italy, and some from Mexico.
I also love the Roots travel manicure set I found on sale in Canada.
Not to mention the obligatory German chocolate.....

Adorable door mats from Flower and Garden Festival. (found same things at home when I got back, though .

I remember buying the L'Occitane too. I love that stuff! I usually get something at Basin now every trip, but it's not the same.
I always buy the Gummy Frogs and the rolled waffle cookies in Germany and the rice candy in Japan. And DS (& DH) always have to get something Star Wars related at the Tatooine Traders in MGM.

Oh yes, I also need to buy Hello Kitty stuff from Japan for my 40 yo sister and my 40 yo friend!! Apparently the Mitsukoshi store carries new products before other stores in North America..... :sosad:
Germany - Milka!
Japan - A lucky cat and/or a variety of $10 or less authentic japanese products
DTD - a handful of Lego stuff, usually a mix and match bucket from the back wall, like extra wheels and stuff.

Ahh yes, extra wheels do come in handy as one goes through life........

I HAVE to buy Pokemon cards for my ds 6. He definately is learning his way around the countries in order..."After Germany is Italy... right Mom?.... then after Italy is The American Adventure...right Mom?...Then after The American Adventure...I can get some Pokemon cards....right Mom?"
Maybe next time we will start in France and work the other way! ;)
And my newest tradition I have started is the mix and match bags of m&m's that you fill yourself at Seashore Sweets on the Boardwalk. I dont know, they just tasted so much better knowing they came from "on the Boardwalk!" :) Treats for the plane ride home :)
Nice post! :)

I love tea, so anything from the Twinings shop in UK, Epcot is always on my agenda. For several years (until I found it here), I'd buy Twinings Earl Grey every year. But I still buy something related to tea-I've bought several nice tea cups/mugs, tea bag holders, and different Twinings tea "flavors".

Mexico is always good for shopping. The parents used ot spend a month every winter in Oaxaca Mexico, so the Oaxacan wood carvers in the front part are always fun to watch in action. We bought a gorgeous nativity set there after Xmas last year to give to friends who are also fond of Oaxacan Animalitos.
DW and DD like to shop for jewelery in Mexico too. Some inexpensive tchotchkas (aka bric-a-brac, notions ... whatever you want to call it) can be had in China, and some interesting ones in Japan. Plus we always get a few little molded plastic animals in Germany.

Hmmm..... I purchased some Cape Indaba Merlot from the South Africa booth at the Food & Wine Festival as well as the Mango wine from the Florida Booth.
This past trip, I bought an adorable paper toy from Japan for my nieces. When you put it together, it makes a mother bird with three baby birds. You turn the handle and she begins to feed them.

I just started my third bottle of Laila cologne from the Norway pavillion. It's the only cologne that I can remember finishing even one bottle of -- I just love it! I also like to buy the tea in England -- I think I may have to have a cup of the Strawberry Mango this afternoon.

In China you can find wonderful soaps that make great teacher/co-worker, etc. gifts. I haven't bought any in a year or so, but they used to be around $1.25.

DH loves to buy the Twining teas also, his favorite being Gunpowder tea! He always buys the Norwegian version of M&M's too! :yummy:
Back in '85, I purchased a ceramic bird in Mexico that I loved. In Oct 04, I added a beautiful ceramic green cat as well:goodvibes
I also like the Basin in DTD. This past December, I got two of their hair soaps and I really love them. My hair is curly and so it is also dry. This stuff works great:beaniepro

i love the Twinings tea, also, but my favorite purchases are the hummels in germany when they have the master painters there to sign their pieces. I little pricey but what a wonderful memory. I always take a picture of them signing the piece and then put the picture in my curio cabinet under the piece.

Hmmm, my favorite things I have bought so far are the blanket I bought in Mexico, the pocketbook I bought in Japan. gummi bears from germany, wine from Italy, and I made Scott one of those things (wish I knew the real name of it) that you have made up in the U.K. when you give them the last name and they put what it means. I gave it to him for Christmas. I'm sure there is more but this is what I can think of off the top of my head.

The geneology thing. ;) I checked that out with my friend on my last trip. My family name (very rare name) had very little to it. But my friend (who is of Japanese descent) had a huge write up for his last name so he ended up getting it. He's sending it to his parents in Japan with a translation.

Yeah, the geneology thing, exactly! Thanks LC! It was pretty neat, I told them what his last name was and they asked me if I wanted the Scottish, English or Irish. I was like wow, I had no idea his last name could be one of the 3, all pronounced the same, but all spelled differently. He is of Scottish decent. (hence his name) so he was thrilled w/it!
Thats a great idea your firend had, his parents will love it!

Oh, I almost forgot., For my nieces, I got these little Japanese fans / greeting cards and then on the back, had the CM write "greeting from Japan" in Japanese and then the translation underneath.

Always have to bring my kids Fudge from the Main Street Bakery OR Seashore Sweets. Another favorite I got my kids is the framed page with the meanings of their first names on them. They were bought in the UK, similar to the genealogy thing you've been discussing.
If I thought long and hard I might be able to come up with something, but right off the bat I don't think I can think of anything non disney related that I bought myself at WDW. I imagine Off Kilter CD's don't count? :fresh:

We'll let oyu have Off Kilter. Since they perform outside of WDW, they can be used as a non Disney related purchase. BTW, I own 4 of the CD's. ;)

Awww S.O.F. thanks! I appreciate you letting me have Off Kilter, can you send them overnight express? It's gonna storm really bad here tonight and tomorrow, I can use some entertainment while I am snowbound.
I am duly impressed that you have four of their CD's!
