Oh Laura,
How awful!!!!!
I think maybe I WILL get a flu shot this year. I've only done it once and as I recall, no flu that year!
Can you keep tea down? My momma's best flu cure: hot tea, honey, lemon and a shot of whisky. Fall asleep. Wake up feeling better than when you fall asleep. Hope it works for you!
Pixie Dust wishes that you feel better soon!

Yikes! I'm so sorry!
I had my flu shot today, and was just thinking that it kinda stunk that my arm was sore. Now I'll get over myself, thanks.
Hope you're a lot better soon!

Flu shots scare me for a variety of reasons, shot itself not being on of them. FInally decided to get on last year though. Yup, didn't happen due to the shortage. Was that a sign?
Hope you feel better soon.

I hope that you feel better soon. I called my Dr. and there will not be any available till after the end of the month at the earliest. My ds 6 cannot even get on the waitlist till after Nov. 5th. Take care-

Uggh. I hate the flu
I hope you feel better soon. Drink as much orange juice as humanly possible if you can stand the taste and try fruit. I usually can't stand the taste of anything but oranges and grapes when I have the flu.

i got it, cant spell it. The doc said my chest was one of the worst he had heard.... and was amazed ,my pluse ox was as high as it was 99 considering all the junk in there.
The pnemoania is in my left lower lung. pretty well emcampped he said. I had a couple of breathing treatment (tastes nasty) at the hostipal.
They debated about keeping me in the hostipal, but since I am not throwing up and keeping food (such as it is) and water down, they felt I could stay at home.
I have albuterol, steriods (predinsone) and a z pack... I took 2 today at the hostipal and I am to take the remaining 7 from my prescription over the next 7 days...
On the up side, I am giving it my all to stop smoking. I didnt smoke much on the girls cruise, and maybe 7-10 smokes since I have been home (us hackers are die hard... lol) but I have 'seen the light' and might as well bit the bullett. Ozo picked up some nic gum and the one peice I had seemed to help. Lucky for me I am unconsionous more than awake, still these days so I only crave a smke an hour a day anyway! LOL
I am also down 10 pounds in a week. (I keep thinking about the biggest loser tv show, where they are working thier butts off to loose weigh.... I get sick and pull big numbers! LOL)
Ok.... I am off to take my meds and head back to bed.
As the gravestone said.... "see, I told you I was sick"

Oh Laura, so sorry to hear about the pneumonia! Please take care of yourself! It may be a great opportunity to give up the smokes. I know it is hard, being an ex-smoker myself. I finally decided, due to respiratory illness happening to me too much, that I was not meant to smoke and that it would try to kill me :faint: It is hard to kick pneumonia as a smoker - get plenty of rest!

Have mercy! Pneumonia is no joke! Rest and do not play when it comes to your medicine.
As for the smoking, my sisters who both smoked since ther pre-teens, kicked the habit in their late 30's. They were serious smokers. Debra went cold turkey and it looked pretty tough and Pam crocheted her way through it. When she first started crocheting we'd ask her how many packs was that scarf. Neither one of them has relapsed. If they can do it I'm pretty sure anyone can.
I forgot my mom smoked too. She quit without a peep. She just stopped.
You can do it. Here's some pixie dust. :dust

Pneumonia????? Holy cow! More pd needed! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
No wonder teh need to stop smoking. PLEASE, take care of those lungs. I had pneu... when I was younger and in very good health. Still got bronchitis at least once a year for the next 7 years after that.
I know it's hard to quit, but you really need to be good to those lungs now.
OK, Mom Carrie going stepping down from soap box now and just hoping you get better soon!

Hey, give us an update!
How are you feeling today?

Hope you are feeling better!
The good thing about pneuMOANya...is that it can be treated with drugs til it gets GONE.
I sure like the way you spell it...I think they should make that spelling official.
As for the smoking....girl, you KNOW better. Mickey says: QUIT IT
But we still love you! and hope you kick both the 'moan-ya' and the nicotine addiction soon (sending ya pixie dust)

Hey... thanks for asking! LOL
I am feeling better. I still loose my breath if I talk or do too much which sucks. BUT I am awake, which is a great improvement.
And the not smoking thing is going ok... I have another rant to post on that thread.... lol
But Tomorrow I am up and out... kids have to get to school... I will just take it slow, and I have moms meeting my kids so I dont have to get out of the car.
I really miss snuggling with them again, which I really miss. I just want human contact. I never got enough cuddles in after my girls trip before this silly lung thing happened. Phoey I want to eat them up!

I can't wait until you get to cuddle up with your sweeties. To me, as a mother, that's one of the hardest things about being sick, not being able to fully be with your little honeys. I am not looking forward to my first cold weather sickness.
Try not to do to much or you could reverse. Continue to get your rest and take your meds religiously. Lots of pixie dust for the smoking. I know it can't be easy to quit and I so admire you for having the courage to try. :dust :dust :dust

Hope you're feeling better now and the meds and rest have all kicked your immune system into high gear...Pneumonia feels HORRIBLE. I remember having it when I was a few mos pg with our dd, and the only time I felt quasi-human was in the shower with the steam... I was miserable AND pruny!
And don't kick yourself over lack of a flu shot... so many of these things aren't covered by one anyway. I heard the pharm companies aretrying to develop a vaccine for rotovirus - now THERE is something my family would invest in! I have a DH who, everytime he gets it, I have to rush him to the ER. Usually takes about 3 shots of 3 different meds to get him under control. Last year, we had practically the whole family sick on Thanksgiving day - including DH (whom I attended to in the ER from 9 am until 8 pm that night when they let him come home to my IL's house.)
Anyhooo - enough about that! Rest up, and I hope you're already feelin' better!

Thanks.
Still feeling lousy, but better. So it is frustrating. I feel fine until I try and do something... then I cough for 10 minutes and collapse! LOL SUcks
But I have 28 years of smoking under my belt so I expect my recovery to take a while. My poor lungs....

I just got back from my follow up appt. Seems the lungs are not as clear as they would like them to be, so I am now on another stronger antibotic. This one says it causes dizziness... lovely.
My BP was on the low side also... 102/58
Anyway I go back in 6 weeks for another chest xray, and before then I need to go in and have them take blood for colestoral (sp) and something else... I forget... lol
I was also asked a bunch of premenopausal questions which I shushed him on. NO I am not having hot flashes NO I am not have night sweats NO NO NO!!! LOL
Sucks getting old!

Your chest is still congested, but they don't want to see you for 6 weeks? That does not sound right to me! Meds that cause dizziness don't sound good either. :grouphug:

Yuck, I'm sorry! Hope this clears it up quickly. And after my vertigo episode of last week, I'm really sorry they put you on something that makes you dizzy. It stinks. Be really careful if you're driving on that stuff.
