I didn't get any specifics on this but, we are also able to now use our points to book Advenutres By disney. That's a new travel / tour group they started a year or two ago. You can find more general information on Adventures By Disney at http://www.adventuresbydisney.com

I looked around the website a bit. It seems interesting (and I like that they include transportation in the cost of the vacations.).

Couldn't find anything about using points for the trips, but I wouldn't expect to be able to find that sort of information there, anyway.

Wow - those do look neat!!!!! I ordered a brochure - you always know when prices aren't listed it's going to be pricey!

Kim,
This is something that has only been quietly "announced" within the past couple of days. I believe it was Thursday or Friday when they began this option as well as the lowered points at DL.

Hmmm.
It's a cute site BUT I looked at what you get for the places I've been....and it sure isn't worth $3000 per person. Yikes!!!!
( I looked at both Hawaiiis and Costa Rica.)

Too tired (after watching all those commercials at the super bowl.

Who will help me do a poll? On the best commercial?

I remember last year the costs for those adventures were exhorbitant! I have been to Hawaii enough times to know I can book my own "adventure" for a lot less than that! I can imagine the points cost will be exhorbitant!

I noticed that the points chart is listed on the dvc site now. :holymoly: Maybe some day we might have 1000 points to use up for one week. Everything about these vacations appears to be nothing but the best though, so the high price tag is not that surprising, I guess. I looked at the Canadian Rockies trip. It would be amazing!

While the points are high, it is nice that DVC continues to work on more options for us members. As the membership continue to grow, and DVC continues to grow in financial importance to the Walt Disney Company, I think we will keep seeing more options, and trade costs will get better.

I too checked out the cash outlay, holy crap it's a lot!! :jawdroppi

If I did my math correctly for 2 adults and 2 kids to go to Wyoming would be about 10G!! Do you know how many points I can buy for 10G???!!!

Noticed the Adventure trips last week and sent for a brochure right away (rockies look really cool)

Leftcoaster - this is the second time i've read about 'lower' point for use in DL. I checked the perks page on the dvc member site and it also talks about lower points so i called Member services to inquire what the lower points were and was told that the point chart currently posted on the Member services website have been updated to reflect the LOWER points.

So are these the 'lower' point usage everyone is hinting about or are you talking about an ADDITION reduction???? (i really hope they're going lower)

Those are the new lower points. They've done a reallocation in points for the DL hotels. i.e. cheaper during the week and more expensive on the weekends but overall, the points have dropped a little.
