Cruise Grand Gathering

Does anyone know if the DCL offers any grand gathering packages? There will be 15 of us going on a cruise sometime in 2010 (hopefully June). The age ranges are 2 seventy-somethings, 6 forty-somethings, 3 young adults (18 -21) and 4 children 6, 10, 11, and 13. Also has anyone stayed in the two bedroom suite? It says it sleeps 7, but I was only able to figure out 6 from the website. (2 queen beds and one double sleep sofa).

If you go to http://castawayclub.com/ and click on the link for a 2BR suite, you will see a photo of an "upper bunk" in the second bedroom, similar to the one that allows standard cabins to sleep 4.
2 Queen beds = 4
sleeper sofa = 2
bunk bed = 1
So the total is 7.

I have never heard of any Grand Gathering program for DCL, but then I'm not in the market for that so it is possible.

You should be aware that categories 1-3 are typically booked a long time in advance, are very difficult to get, and cost two arms and a leg if you do get one. You should send in your request NOW if you want one for June 2010. I have heard people talk about faxing requests directly to DCL inventory control but I don't have that number -- call DCL and ask about it. I believe there are only 4 two-bedroom suites (categories 1-2) and they are almost impossible to get.

You should consider just getting 4-6 category 5/6 cabins. If you book as early as possible there should be no problem getting connecting cabins (in pairs). If you want to save some money say so and I can point out some alternatives.

If you're interested in the 2 bedroom suite I would definately go ahead and fax a request to DCL now. You're under no obligation to book, so if plans change there's no penalty. DCL will call you once the dates are released for booking that way you get first dibs on the room or rooms you want.

Inventory Control's fax number is: 407-566-7739. Be sure to include your name, contact information, what room/type you want (try to specify room numbers too) and when you're interested in going.

You should receive a postcard in the mail in a few weeks letting you know they received and have noted your request.
