Since there are two questions in 1 poll, it is a multiple choice poll. People who vote in such a way as to cancel their votes (i.e. voting yes and no for the same question) shall be banned from the closet for 2 days, and held up for public ridicule!

Question 1:

Is the wave smiley thingy (Shown here: :thewave: ) Working for you?

Question 2:

Woudn't the value of this already incredible and priceless site, increase with the addition of just one FROG BASED SMILEY?

Thanking you in advance for your help in shaping the future!

-Tony

I don't know let me check...

:thewave:

Nope.

I stand neutral on the frog issue. As long as it doesn't increase my dues I guess I would accept a frog.

From the main website:

"Signal, Groundspeak's mascot, represents the combination of the outdoors and location-based technology. We call him "El Capitan" or "The Liberator" in the office."

What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for gps users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.

It's a great way to get outdoors with the family. You can learn more about Geocaching at

I'm sorry to say, guys, that there's nothing wrong with the wave smiley. As John's situation so vividly demonstrates, it is an issue involving your computer and what it does with different animated gifs. And since I don't know a whole lot about animated gifs, I really can't offer more help than that. Have you tried typing in the associated text instead to see if that will work?

The only thing I can tell you Boss-Lady, is that of all the animated smilies, only, the wave doesn't work. It is alsointermittent, working some days, not others, on the same computer. FWIW, the wave works for me at the DISboards, even when it doesn't work here. I would think we have a bug, that is more likely on your side, than that of different users.

The easiest way to be sure.... Others who have wave trouble here:

ANy trouble at the Dishboards at the same time?

Is it intermittent for you?

Oh wait..... For those with wave troubles, do you rent DVC points?

There is no problem on this end. It could be your RAM, it could be any number of things. But there is absolutely no problem with that animated gif on this end. Sorry.

P.S. -- Don't call me "Boss-Lady."

Kristy:

Did you know there were actual caches hidden in Walt Disney World up to a few years ago? Someone freaked out when they saw a micro cache at Magic Kingdom and they closed Fantasyland while the bomb squad checked it out. Since then someone from Disney regularly checks the website for caches and "steals" the cache as soon as it's placed. They won't really approve anymore in the parks. Only virtuals.

I plan on picking up some "treasure" on my next trip so that I can make a Disney themed cache. That will really get the kids excited. Great to find a fellow cacher here. :clappingh

That would have been sooooo cool! I can see why Disney does it, though. Too bad that we all have to be so paranoid.
Ya know - when we placed ours in the park here - we got permission from the parks and rec people and they were only concerned that it be VERY well marked so that no one thought it was a bomb. So we did an ammo can with actual geocaching stickers on the outside explaining what it is. We'll have to do the virtual caches when we're down at the world next. My MIL and FIL also geocache and they will be with us. Fun!:kickingco

Sorry for hijacking your thread, Tony!
Looks great, JohnNJ! If you don't mind me asking - what's your username on the Geocaching site? We're "The Paves". You can see we're not very active - I think we've only found 17 of them. But we're getting more and more. Still haven't done any since we moved here - except hide our own!

Not taking sides here (after all, I am running for office), but my impression is that it's a server-side problem, perhaps with the file itself (http://www.mouseowners.com/forums/images/smilies/new/thewave.gif). It's the only smilie in the entire list doesn't work for me (red x). As for those who can see it, most likely they viewed it before the file became corrupt, thus it was stored in their browser cache. I bet if they clear all files from their cache, they'll have the problem.

Of course, I still use my toes to count, so why listen to me?

AFMom

That's why you still have my vote (and thanks again for the case of Yuenglings), a politician who actually took a side, by declareing they won't take sides.

Sounds like we got us a doo-deck-a-he-dron here, hoss!
