Disney has now confirmed that the Pirates of the Caribbean rides on both coasts will close this Spring to add Capt. Jack Sparrow and Capt. Barbossa animatronics to the attraction.

"Pirates" will close in both parks in March '06. The Disneland attraction will reopen on June 24th, while its WDW counterpart will reopen on July 7th.

I agree! That's one of our favorite rides! Even DD loves it. Why couldn't they wait until June to rehab? :crymeariv

I guess we'll just have to wait for the new & improved POTC in November.

I'm going to search more for a date - I'd like to ride it just one more time before they add on to it..

and, my DS just loves it, so it needs to be open when we are there!

One interesting thing I noticed about the refurb for Pirates is that Disney even went so far as making a big press release about it. While sadly awaiting at the airport for the flgiht home (Waaaaah!), I noticed it was on the CNN ticker.
I think it stands to reason that Disney s going to pour a lot of money into the refurbs and market the heck out of it.
