General Cruise Question

My parents are wanting to do a cruise during Christmas week of 2007. The plan is to cruise out of Charleston (non-Disney :o ) since that is about a 4-5 hour drive.

My questions for the cruise pros:

How early should we book?

What's the best way to get the best discount? Directly thru the cruise line or thru AAA or some other travel agency?

It depends on the line that they are sailing on. For example, I don't think that there are any discounts to be had on RCCL. Other than that if you want good discounts then use either www.cruise411.com or Costco Travel.
