We were at AK yesterday morning bright and early to ride Expedition Everest along with thousands of our fellow DVC and AP Disneyphiles. We loved the ride - well at least my daughter and I did. Mom and DH made it one time and declared never again. FIL and BIL took one look and opted to stay with DS. The theming is beautiful - I've never been to the Himalayas but I'm sure that's just what they look like! :D The train is has cars seating two abreast with a straight head board to keep you from whipping your head around - although it didn't seem necessary. There is a seat divider between the passengers and individual lap bars so the kids don't fly around so much if they ride with an adult. This did make my little girl feel much more secure - I think she'd have ridden it all day if we didn't have the rest of the family waiting on us. I don't want to spoil the ride for anyone so let's just say it's different than any other coaster I've ever been on. There are plunges, stops, change of direction, cold mists, and of course the lurking Yeti! What fun!

One questions for you OKW GV veterans, do any of the master suites have a door between the bedroom and the jacuzzi and shower??? :holymoly:

tell me - - with this seating arrangement - is it possible to hold on to my CP kid as close as he is being held on the pic below? Well - Uncle Andy is probably holding closer than need be - but you get my drift... he needs someone's arm around his waist and head. I'm pretty sure he won't be able to ride it.. but thought i would ask. he's would LOVE it.

Sue - Have you looked at allearsnet.com? They have pictures of the ride cars. Maybe that would help?

Sue,

I bet your son would be able to ride and be snuggled up close. The divider between the seats is only a few inches tall and the lap bar just comes over your laps not your shoulders so you should be able to reach around and hold him close. It's not a real jerky ride either - I'd give it a try.

I'll check out the pics - - I really hope so!!! Newer rides everywhere - ToT, RnR, etc... all have bars and shoulder harness etc., because the rides require them. If they really have built a new ride that DS can ride I'll be sittin' on top of the world.

If this works out, darn right I'll go into AK. (yes, break that long-standing perverse tradition...)

Hi Sue,
I was thinking about your reasons for not going to AK before.
And while EE is as good a reason as any to go, I thought of another, really good one.
No zoo, animal park, amusement park has DeVine...and she is a great reason all \by herself to go to AK. In fact, when I go to AK , I can't leave without seeing her.

Just thought I 'd add that to your now growing reasons why you must go to AK!

Take care,
CB

We always seemt o miss DeVine. I think we saw her once.

My DS-6 loves going to AK...not for the rides and he's a thrill ride addict, not for the animals even though he's a big animal lover but for PIPA! He gets the biggest thrill out of a talking garbage can LOL We have to "stalk" the garbage can! I have to get the times for Steve Soares site beforehand so we can see him every trip. For the rest of our vacation, he sticks his head in EVERY garbage can we see...just in case :scary:

So if you're ever in Disney and hear 2 parents yelling...."FOr the 1000 time, get your head out of the garbage can!!!" That would be us!
