Even though we are seasoned DVC members, we have never used DME. We are using it for our upcoming trip. There are eight of us. What can we expect? Any advice/words of wisdom? Will our luggage join us eventually?

We used the DME in December and it was great for us. When you get down to the first level of the Orlando Airport where you check in for it, the queue looks very long and scary. But don't worry the line moves fast. They then tell you what line to get into depending upon your resort. Then they load the buses, they ask how many is in your party so that they won't split it, but they fill the bus to max cap. They are nice big tour buses. We will definitely use it again. And yes your luggage does show up in your room. It was a few hours after we checked into our room that our luggage found us, so if you need anything right when you get there, take it in a carry on.

We've used DME three times now and have had flawless trips each time. Yes - it's queued to the max, but with Disney efficiency. We've always shown up at less than peak times, so it looks eerily empty.

Anyway - you check in at the DME counter on the ground level, side B, and then go wherever they tell you. CMs point you to the proper queue at each step and tell you when to board which bus.

We used DME last February during President's Day Week and it worked very efficiently for us during a busy travel season. Having a 1 and 2 year old at the time, it was nice being able to check the bags at our originating airport curbside and not having to worry about them again until they showed up in our hotel room. When we arrived at MCO, it was about 90 minutes to get through the queue, board DME, and arrive at our hotel (AKL). This also included a stop at CSR. Our luggage showed up about 90 minutes after we had checked into our room. The return trip was just as efficient, we checked our bags at the hotel and did not need to deal with them until we arrived at our home airport. Just be aware that DME will pick you up about three hours before your flight home.

Thank you for starting this thread. My mom and sister will be using the DME for our September trip. It was very helpful.

We are others that have had no problem in our 4 to 6 trips using DME.. We even once put the ladies on the DME and we went and got the rental . Ended up at SSR within 5 minutes of each other.

So now what we do is all take ME and just get a rental on-sight or at one of the DTD locations . It just works that well and Simple.

But as others have said . You check-in , you get on the Bus and later in the day your bags show up in your room.

If you arrive early and your room is not available bell services will take and hold your carry-ons as well.

Thanks to all! Your replies are so encouraging. We have been DVC members since 2004, and can't wait to go "Home" to SSR this April. We look forward to using DME as flawlessly as you have.

I have used DME a few times myself and it has worked out flawlessly each time. Luggage has usually arrived a couple of hours or so after I've checked in to the resort.

Remember, anything you will need for the first day, you should automatically put in your carry on. This protects you in case DME takes longer to deliver your luggage. Or, even worse, what if the airlines lost your luggage?

We took ME for the first time last summer - and all morning I was concentrating on packing what we needed for the day - got to the airport and had to toss all of our sunscreen at security. and we travel alot - I KNOW what we can't take -but sadly, the two thought processes, "pack for security" and "pack for the parks" did not meet in my head. :hahahaha:
