What are the perks of an associate member. Would like to put my kids on, but they don't live in the same home with me (thank god, finally gone, and back, and gone again and back and finally gone-boomerang generation).
How about ap pass disounts?
Thanks

I think that about the only advantage to being an associate is that you can call and make / manage reservations using the contract points.

Being added as an associate would sadly NOT make them eligible for the AP discount. The special rules surrounding that perk specifically indicate that it is available only to the owner(s) living at the contract address on file with DVC and their immediate family members also living at the same address.

Associates do not receive blue DVC member IDs.

Regarding other perks, according to the current language on the member website the perks like dining and tour discounts are available to any individual with the blue member ID OR the room key that states "DVC Member."

That is absolutely correct. Our adult "kids" are associate members, and they do NOT get AP discounts or any of the other perks that require a blue card unless they are with us. They DO have the ability to make ressies though.

So really, I don't see that it would be worth it to add anyone if there is an expense involved. If they have your member info, they can call and make ressies anyway.
