Inspired by CaptJacksPrincess, I remembered I hadn't posted a review of my recent trip there (12/4). I had the lettuce cups with minced chicken for an appetizer. It was a big appetizer for one person, kind of spicy. For a main course, I had the duck. It was OK, nothing special. For dessert, I had the trio of sorbets-those were very good-most notably the mango one.

The resturant itself was beautiful-

I think my lack of enthusiasm for the food was due to the fact that I really wasn't hungry, but I had ADRs and I was determined to try the resturant. Next trip I plan to try the CS for a change. Oh, one odd thing-on the DDP my server said that the computer wouldn't accept my hot tea, so I had to pay for that OOP. Hopefully, the computer (or whatever) will get straightened out.

Hi,

Thanks, that answers that. Are they open for lunch or dinner/both? Making ADR today/tomorrow.

If you like Pho, it's a decent one there!

During our trip, we arrived just as the restaurant had opened for lunch. We were seated and served promptly. Service was excellent.

The (unsweetened) mango iced tea was excellent. I wish I could have tried some of their specialty drinks, but since I'd had a headache the day before, it didn't seem very wise to push it (especially with a FP for EE later on).

We ordered the pork egg rolls for an appetizer. They were good but not great, primarily because they'd obviously been made before the restaurant had opened and thus were "in stasis," awaiting our arrival. Thus, they were lukewarm. Still, they were crispy on the putside and tasty on the inside, and the plum sauce was very good. All in all, they just needed to be a little warmer.

I ordered the baby back ribs for a main course. They were quite good, if a little sweet. Tangy, they practically fell off the bone. And there were a ton of them. I defnitely couldn't finish them! Chicken fried rice was one of the side dishes that accompanied the ribs, and I have to say that I thought it pretty much sucked eggs. Totally tasteless and bleh. I'm guessing I would have had the same quality fried rice out of some frozen stock at the grocery store. Ick. I did not try the spicy chili slaw side that also came with the meal, since I can't do spicy food.

DH had the stir fried beef and broccoli with jasmine rice. His dish -- all of it -- was excellent. The beef was tasty (not overly salty, as those dishes tend to be), the broccoli was crisp, and the jasmine rice really was out of this world. Slightly sticky, with just a hint of jasmine. Again, it was a lot of food.

For dessert, we shared the fried wontons. Nummies! Skewered chunks of warmed pineapple along with crispy wontons filled with slightly sweetened, hot cream cheese, and drizzled with honey. And all accompanied by a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. Loved the dessert!

We utilized our DVC discount and waddled away. All in all, I think Y&Y is an excellent addition for a sit-down restaurant in a park, and I would definitely eat there again. I certainly rank it above Mama Melrose's, the Sci-fi Diner, and I think even the Primetime Cafe.

Thanks for the reviews. It looks like a good option for us next trip, but how to decide between Yak and Yeti, and Tusker House?

I'd vote for Tusker House. I thought the food was better (although,as I think I mentioned before, I really wasn't hungry the night I ate at Yak and Yeti, which makes a difference). But I did think the food at Tusker House was yummy. Also, if you're going as a "we", there's more variety to please a wider variety of people.

Great decor and atmosphere............thanks for the pics.
I guess I would expect no less, but it is still exciting to see.
Were the ADR's hard to come by?
