I know they haven't officially announced what will be replacing Tarzan Rocks at AK after it closes, but anyone have any ideas? Heard any rumors?

The original rumor was a stage show based on The Jungle Book. Not long after that rumor started to make the rounds, it was replaced with rumors of a Finding Nemo show. So far the Nemo rumors have 'stuck'.

Far as I know, the current theater will be either demolished or significantly upgraded. With it being so close to Expedition Everest, they need an enclosed building to house a live stage show. The Theater in the Wild is open-air, and the noise from EE would reportedly be noticable during the show.

Jungle Book....Animal Kingdom...works for me!!! Loved the music from Tarzan but wasn't crazy about the show. Hope the original rumor rings to be a true one-

I agree, Jiggerj - the music was great - but we were pretty unimpressed by the actual show. There were about 4 minutes of 'Wow" in what seemed like a 30 minute show. Jungle Book would have been a neat idea - Nemo is cool - but seems to fit better at Epcot with everything they've done there at living Seas..... Maybe "enclosed" means A/C????

As a fan of the Jungle Book, oh how I hope the original rumor is true! Jungle Book is a property that I don't think Disney has used to its full potential. Would love to see it at AK!:beatinghe

I think it will end up being Nemo. I am trying for the life of me to remember where I just read this ... but I am drawing a blank. Anyway, I read that it will reopen as a fully enclosed theater in November 2006 and that a special water curtain has been ordered for the new Nemo show.

I also heard a rumor that the performers were not Disney performers...they were subcontracted (does that make sense)?! And they want to do a show with Disney performers AND they need to upgrade the theater so guests don't pass out from the heat. That place is brutal in August!!!

The Finding Nemo show is the latest rumor. I don't see that fitting into the theming of AK though?! Is it just me? :idontgeti I was sort of hoping for something more related....Jungle Book would be super b/c the music is sooo great, it fits the AK theming better and it's a CLASSIC which I always like to see being represented at the parks.

Thoughts anyone?

Nope. They're just going to enclose the building and let you cook. ;)

Burn baby, burn.

Maybe I'm nuts, but I thought there was a Jungle Book show already and it closed quite a while ago? And if I'm remembering it, it was not so great.

Anyone know what I'm talking about (since I don't think I do, lol)?

:idontgeti I don't remember it but that doesn't mean it didn't exist.

A Jungle Book show sounds great. I'd love that!
Not sure how Nemo fits into Animal Kingdom, though. Seems more of an Epcot thing to me as someone already stated.

I would love a Jungle Book show!:jumpingbe
I agree w/above posters that Nemo would fit better at Epcot. The only reason I can think they would go w/Nemo over Jungle Book, is the ''newer'' generation may not care about JB or even heard of it for that matter, but they are very familiar w/Nemo.

Good point. I remember when we took the kids to Disney on Ice a couple of years ago. It was the Lion King/Jungle Book/Tarzan one. My kids were very bored during the Jungle Book part of it. I noticed a lot of the other kids in the audience getting restless as well. They enjoyed the other two segments though.

I think my kids will really miss the Tarzan Rocks show. DW and I don't care much for it, but DD (6) and DS (8) :Pumpkin: loved it. Does anyone know if it's still open? Just a month until we're there!:hyper:

Unfortunately, no. It's gone. The last show was a couple days ago.

We saw it twice and I didn't think it was too bad. I kinda got caught up in that rock concert atmosphere and enjoyed the music. They could have dialed-down the volume a bit, but nothing is perfect. The skating wasn't my thing, but I did enjoy the live music performance. :tunes:

I liked Tarzan Rocks, but I only saw it once, so maybe my memory is a bit off? I'd love Jungle Book, though. the music is great and my DS likes it OK. Of course, he'd probably love Nemo, but I agree it doesn't fit in at AK. We'll have to see? When is the new show scheduled to open- or is it?

Just a quick note. They have already begun some construction work with the theater there. I don't remember seeing work being done when I was at the Everest preview on Sunday. (Then again, all I could focus in on was Everest). But, I definately saw the construction being done on Thursday
