You betcha!! Angel about flipped out into orbit. She is a mama's baby for sure. :beatinghe

This is some pics of "tag you're it", a game that is played twice a day here.

"Tag, you're it!!" I love this one, as it shows Angel thinking she is a Greyhound. She gives it the college try, and sometimes they let her catch them, too cute!

Funny you say that!! We were so excited when we heard our area was getting a dog park. Where we moved from had a very nice one, shaded, large, etc. Imagine our disappointment when we pulled up and got out, and it was not even as big as our back yard!! No shade, it was on a drainage creek with a "Warning Snakes May be Present" sign as you enter. :bugeyed: We didn't even let the kids out of the car, just backed up and went home to our backyard. Just as well, I know who they are playing with, LOL.

You and your pups are welcome anytime!! :howudoin:

A mouseowners meet for our pets!
Sounds like a great time, I don't know how well the dogs would like the trip from Ohio!

We have a great dog park about 40 minutes from here, What fun it is to watch all the dogs play and run till they can't take any more.
Everyone there is good people too.

Our Gracie in her younger days would know when we got off at that exit where we were headed, she would put her paws on the dashboard and ride with her face plastered to the windshield till we arrived!

They put A dog park in a town closer to us, we too were pretty excited. Just like you said no shade, small, bad location,{right next to busy railroad tracks} and they posted signs with a bunch of rules that made no sense. :sosad:
No one goes there.

I never pictured your border Collie as white!

Oops! :o She really is a border mix. She is all Border though in personality, she is a trip, and I'll have to get a pic of her "herding" the Greys in. It's a riot!! Smart as a whip too, and she even does that "Border" talk as I had a breeder describe to me. She is supposedly also half Cocker, she might have a little cocker in the face, but I am glad for her Border personality. No offense to Cocker's of course.....;) There really isn't a breed I don't like to be honest.

I'll trade you Renee's Boarder personality!!! :o We're a little disappointed there isn't more of the setter or shepherd personality in her...since after all, that's what we thought we were getting. :worried:

Thanks for sharing the pix. And here I thought you "delivered" while at WDW.

It really is a crap shoot with personality's it seems. I really to be honest don't know how much of Angel's personality is Border or which part is Cocker. I have had people tell me she acts more Cocker to them, as she's very affectionate and very velcro. I haven't been allowed to pee by myself in 6 years. :bagovermy I guess I always love the herding thing in her. Does Renee herd? I can't blame you for wanting a shepherd influence. Those dogs are just amazing. I have never met a Shepherd that I didn't instantly fall in love with and be amazed by.

She tries to herd birds! While we are running.

As for privacy in the bathroom...I'm used to it! Both of my labs thought it was their G*d given right to open any door and sashay in to see what was going on....Renee is actually less that way!

Also, because she is smaller, and super-fast, we just wish she was bigger and a little slower, ya know???? We run her 3 miles and she comes home and tears up in the house, hurtling the baby and all that. It's like the 3 miles just gets her all revved up!

Mr Nono and I were just :solikeiwa about this today on the way home from church. We love her, but she's a freakin' weirdo. (My labs were freakin' weirdos in totally different ways when they were pups too).

Can you imagine nono if Renee was placed in a home where she didn't get any exercise? Talk about nuts!! She is so lucky to have ya'll. How old is she?

I am really spoiled I suppose, as my dogs really do entertain themselves mostly in the back yard and in the house with each other. We do play "baby" and "ball", but if we had to skip a day and wouldn't funk up the pack dynamics. Now the Dobie we had, oh my, if he didn't get his daily allotment he would just almost be beside himself, and driving everyone in the house nutso.

She's supposedly 10 months old, but our vet thinks the Alabama folks erred on the conservative side. He thinks she could be over a year already. Since she's not really growing anymore (though she had gained 10-14 lbs. even with the running!!!), I tend to agree with the NJ vet.

BTW, every day, D talks about Renee being born in Alabama...which she pronounces Alabam-la.

Oh for goodness sakes, S was standing and getting applause from Mr Nono. Renee just walked in the room and hip checked him so he fell over and jumped into Mr Nono's arms. :hammer: Rozzie, you have the right idea! It is easier when they are all the same species...this cross-species stuff when they are really young is a challenge!

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments. I had to remind myself how cute Honey is this morning. She and Tater "demand" to be up and fed at 0700 on the dot. Well, Mr. Roz was already gone to work, and I thought I could pretend I didn't notice it was after 7am and sleep in. (I'm still on vacation...) Well at 0723 I heard a ripping sound and look to see Honey EATING my library book that was on the bedside table. Of all books, the one book I don't even care for that much, now I will have to buy!! All because she throwing a tantrum cuz' I was 23 minutes late with breakfast!! Can anyone here even question why I don't have human children????? :Pokepoke:

Gail--where are some new pics of Maggie? I bet she is growing like a weed!
Laura--hop to it, we are also behind on Zorro pics....
nono--Any new ones of Renee?

But isn't your kid hugging your dog or the dog falling asleep next to the crib to "guard" the baby sooo cute to see? I have never had a pet-less house and having kids wasn't going to change that. I find that as long as the adults teach the kids limits (like NO pulling tails, poking eyes, etc) it works out well. (I hope it goes without saying that no one should ever leave a small child alone with a big dog, no matter how much you trust your pet).

You know what is shocking? That people give me looks if I have to correct my kids doing something wrong to the dog, like you outline above. Maybe they don't like my "STOP IT" or "NO". I guess people don't get that yakking to infants and toddlers about a safety issue isn't the way to actually stop a problem from happening. Getting the behavior to stop as fast as possible is!

Anyway, here's a newer picture of my "craziest child":

There are some adults who understand, I am always relieved when I see a parent willing to set limits and stand their ground while some onlookers may be frowning.

My brother had a unique way of disciplining his boys, Rather than the typical I'm am going to count to three, he would speak to them in a normal voice, and then he would whisper, "don't do that again" if they defied him he disciplined them.
It was a beautiful thing to see him whisper to his boys and they would comply,
I don't think the vast majority of people have his measure of self control!

Nono do you watch the Dog Whisperer ?

nono
10-30-2007, 12:51 PM
Yes I have seen the Dog Whisperer. He's good.

There is really no problem with Renee and me or D and me. Mr Nono doesn't know how to be Alpha male (at least to Renee). HE is a yakker and not a command person :ROTFL: . We're working on that.

Renee listens to D as D gives clear commands or hand signals. She's 3 1/2, and totally gets respect from the dog. Giving respect all the time is a different matter....she's there 99% of the time, but sometimes regresses after seeing her brother do something dopey...

Renee and S are the exact same age. So I have all sorts of pecking order, sibling rivalry and adoption issues rolled up in that dynamic. Renee really did suffer from being bounced around to many homes in her first 6-8 months. It's classic attachment problems that we need to give time to work out (as well as using techniques I've used on the children to promote healthy attachment). This weekend, we'll be away for 3 days, and the fact that we come back will hopefully start to close a chapter for her in her little life. With S's teething issues awhile back, the dog really was in 3rd place, which wasn't so fair to her.

And S is just an imp, who alternately loves and hates Renee...

Renee is just beautiful!! :clappingh

You know nono, one of the many things I respect and admire about you, and you always see to the core of the issue going on. Most people think it's just a dopey dog, not really understanding rivalry and attachment issues that might be going on.

Like our old neighbors. They loved our dogs, liked their kids playing with our dogs, but kept their 4 Cockers in back yard. Morning, noon, night. Rain or shine. :burningma They would always respond, "they have shelter" which they did, but they got no human companionship. I would always suggest to them that their dogs could be as good as our dogs, and that all they needed to do was show them some attention, respect and love while being the Alpha force. They would flip out, saying their dogs were "too out of control" for the house and they were "nuts" and not fun to work with. WTH??? Er, common sense you would think would jump in and have them look at their situation and slap their forehead and go "duh!"

Thanks! And that was before her bath that I gave her yesterday. As usual, it went 90% well, and then 10% bad at the end, mostly due to poor planning on my part. :headscrat Let's just say after it was all over, the dog needed a second rinse oustide, and both kids needed complete change of outfits, and the bathroom floor needed a good mopping. :dunce:

BTW, thanks for the compliments above. Sometimes that personality trait gets me in a lot of trouble.

Yep, it always upsets me when I see parents who let their kids treat live their pets like they are stuffed animals. Some dogs and cats are so good natured they tolerate it, and I pity the abuse they get. :(

When my oldest was a baby we had 4 cats and 2 dogs. We never kept any of the animals away from her, and they accepted her as part of the pack with little or no problems. I remember her petting them and as I always said the word "nice" when she did it she learned to say it too. Only since she was so small it came out "niiiiii". We still say niiiiii instead of nice, and she's now 22. :D

I agree with you Rozaroo, nono sees the big picture. So do you!

Renee is gorgeous, isn't she? Then again, I have a special place for Bama Doggies. :D

Too funny on the collar and bandana. I always want to get a WDW collar for our kids, but Grey's have to have special martingale collars for safety. (their body type can wiggle out of normal collars, plus the martingale equalizes pressure, if they were to jump on the leash if they saw something to chase, sighthounds they are, they could break their neck with their intensity.) There is the one WDW I see that is red and pink would look so cute on Honey, the one with the little Mickeys. The collar you have on Chloe would look really good on big Tate. Dern, I just wish they made Grey WDW collars!! Who do I need to write?

Angel has a hot pink Coach collar her snooty snoot mama gave her, and she loves it...she is so Divaish... I tried putting a Auburn grocery store collar on her once, and she was like "Ughhmmm! I love that your D gets it, no doubt from watching you interact with the dog!

It's the same here my DH talks to the dogs too much giving the same command repeatedly.

I never knew another dog named Renee, but doggone it nono your dog does indeed look like a Renee!

Well of course miss snooty snoot's dog must have her coach collar (on sale or otherwise!). I've seen some really beautiful jeweled collars on Greys but I never knew they needed special collars. Very enlightening and interesting information Rozaroo.

Yes indeed Roz, each dog I have ever had the pleasure of living with has touched my heart in a different way. I can't ever imagine living without one--or two or three as my kids grow and move out.

I also love the collar, in fact my Maggie has one just like it. She also has a tink charm.

Chloe is really pretty!

Renee...supposedly is part German Shepherd and part Gordon Setter. But she is small and does that crouchy creep that Boarder Collies do (not often, but she's done it a couple times). And her snout shape seems BC. She's hovering around 45 lbs...so pretty tiny for a Shep or a Setter. There are now companies that can (for $65) tell you the genetic make up of your dog. I'm likely to do so. The article on MSN said to wait until year's end, as they'll have more breeds loaded into the matching database. I'd love to know exactly what is all rolled into her, even though I don't know exactly what is all rolled into me!

BTW, Renee came from Alabama with her name. Though, it was spelled Rinae on the original vet work. Someone saw it and crossed it out -- I can almost feel the disgust of the corrector. Kind of like the sign on the side of the road near here..."akers for sale". :sosad:

OOOO I didn't know you could do a genetic analysis for that cheap!! I'd love to find out what Chole's heritage is. I think she's a real heinz 57, probably a mix of at least 4 breeds. Shep, Lab a little beagle (the way she holds her tail is very beagle-ish) and maybe some collie. Any recommendations for a reputable firm that does this? What do they use for a sample?

I read an article a couple of weeks ago about genetic testing for dogs to determine breed, I think it was in the magazine Dog Fancy.

They showed pictures of the dogs; along with theirs owners and some experts best guesses as to the dogs heritage, then they gave the results. It was pretty remarkable. Some of the breeds showing up in the dogs DNA were complete surprises!

It was a good diversion for me while they were x-raying Gracie, I was kind of upset at the time.

This thread made me realize I need to take more pictures of my pets!

This is a picture of Wallace & Gary, they are pretty good buds & they both have interesting birth stories.

My sister was feeding a feral stray cat who she realized was pregnant.
She disappeared for a few days, but came back looking thinner & very hungry.
About 4 days later they found her dead hit by a car in front of their house.
It took them 4 days of looking to find her 4 kittens.
My sister tried to hand off the task of raising them; every place she called said they would just put them down. So she hand reared them.
After helping her with this a few times, my hat is off to mother cats, what a job!
They ate every couple of hours and had to be completely bathed each time, as they had gone to the bathroom allover themselves.
It was worth the effort though, Gary is the best cat I have ever had, and I have had quite a few over the years.
He greets us individually when we come home, and he's really smart, we just love him.

Now Wallace's story.
Wallace's mother Allie belongs to my niece. She planned to breed her to a beautiful boxer who's owner she had met at the dog park.
She had gone through her first heat & thinking she was finished with it, they went to the dog park.
Oops! Her heat was not finished!
Luckily it was the dog they had wanted to breed her to who pegged her!
Wallace & his siblings could have easily been mutts!

I was privileged to assist in the delivery of Allies pup's.
I would catch them as they were born and rip open the sack while Allie chewed through the cord. Then I would suction their nose & mouth while she licked them;at one point she stopped licking the puppy were were working on and looking me right in the eye she licked me and then went back to work!
It was like she was thanking me !:)
I so enjoyed that experience it was truly one of the best days of my life. I wish I could be a midwife for dogs!
I am sure there are wealthy people who would pay a lot of $ to have you attend their dogs during birth!

Wow, Chris, I loved those stories!! I bet you feel so close to them, I can't imagine being there when one of my dogs were born. What a amazing feeling! :) I have never actually been present at a dog birthing, a horse birthing yes, but no dogs. One cool thing about Greys is their tattoo on their eye, has their birthdate and # they were in litter. Type in that # too and I have found all of their brothers and sisters and parents and all there racing careers to boot. I would love to do that genetic thing on Angel and find out once and for all what she is. So many people come up to me asking me what she is, and then of course they give me what they think.

Gary does look like a cool cat. I have met some really really cool cats. My cat is different to say the least. :goodnevil When this cat we have, Pele, goes to the big mousefield in the sky, we probably won't get another cat. Unless I could find a really cool mellow cat, Pele "talks" all day and night. He's 11 now, act like he's 2. He is 1/2 Siamese and really doesn't like me, at all. He is a really weird cat, he doesn't like my mother either. (well not going there...)He LOVES Mr. Roz and my dad, just love love love on them. Me? He tries to draw blood on me all the time. I really think he has a lot of resentment to me, as 99% of my time is dog time. He gets along with dogs, all the dogs we have ever brought home. Well, he is the master and the dogs are his loyal subjects. :D I would have never believed all those cats rule stories till I shared a home with a ruler. Oh and for those who believe I am being over sensitive and the cat really can't figure who he likes, who he doesn't a short story, as Mr Roz used to be believe that till this happened...

I went to the library book sale, found some books for $1 I have been dying to read. They were on the floor in guest bedroom in a paper bag. Pele goes in there, OPENS the bag, goes inside, then PEES all over the books. Then meows until I go in there to see what he is up to. Yep, he was even proud of it!

Heres a pic of him and my big ole Tater bait'...

Rozzie I hope Pele is not your last cat
Every Siamese Siamese/cross I have known have been very vocal, very smart & somewhat aloof favoring one person in the family over others.

Try a big fat orange cat if you can get one, all of them that I have known have been lovers! Nothing beats a warm cat in your lap on a cold day. Well.... almost nothing anyways!

Do your Greyhounds sit down with their butts on the couch like Great Danes always seem to do?

Oh we'll get another cat I am sure. We've tried adding a cat, a kitten actually, but Pele tried to eat him. :sosad: My grandmother had big ole' fat orange cat, she was the most loving thing. No more siamese though. I even asked a siamese breeder once, and she said the same thing you did, they pick one family member out, and they talk talk talk talk. I just thought it was him. Even when I am on the phone, like ordering something, someone on the other end always ask "do you need to go for your baby that's crying?" That's how loud he is, and he hates it when I get on the phone.

Our greys do do the butt thing, Honey also "roaches" on the couch. Legs straight up in air, laying on back asleep. I have got to get a picture of that!!

My long time best friend Belinda had a cat that her husband did not care for and the feeling was mutual!
That cat would pee in his shoes and once defecated on his pillow! Never happened to visit anyone else stuff only her husbands!

I envy you being present at the birth of a foal!
What a joy that must have been!

I love Great Danes! My most favorite dog was a sweet harlequin named JB. She was my "before kids and husband" dog, we had a lot of adventures together.

The couch butt thing is so endearing. I also love the way they lean on you. Do Greys do the lean thing too Rozaroo?

Oh you betcha, big leaners. I remember my dear departed Gracie once was leaning on a little girl petting her at the Vet's, and leaned so much it knocked her down. Poor little girl and Gracie was such a sweetheart, immediately went over to kiss and kiss her to say I'm sorry. :upsidedow

nono... I thought that Renee looked part German Shepherd. I have had a few Shepherds and they were all great dogs. They are very smart, protective, loyal and loving.

7swans....Wallace & Gary are beautiful. Love the stories. I have been around quite a few births. My German Shepherd had four litters and my Yorkie had four litters. What a difference with the births. The shepherd just delivered with no problems, but my Yorkie's first litter I had to help her deliver. And they were so small that I could hold three pups in one hand. I think it was a great expericene for the kids to see also.

Thanks guys. Mystic is our second Bernese. Our first, Sierra, lived 12 years and was our first 'child'. She had the sweetest personality. Mystic on the other hand is a handful and likes to be the dominate dog, however is a smart dog. She acts so much like her father.

Rozzie, your two greyhounds look like they are having such fun together. Maybe that's what Mystic needs, a playmate. I realized I have never met a greyhound before. I wish I could reach in that picture and give them a little lovin' and get to know them.

I love seeing everyones pets! Nono, yours seems like a handful. There is always hope that he/she will calm down.

Lisa, the first thing our rescue group will tell ya' is that you need to chip with a Grey. (Greys are like potato chips, can't just get one!! :upsidedow ) Seriously, Greys go great in pairs, and when we adopt we always get 2 at a time. Honey and Tater are our 2nd pair, and they go great together as you can see from the pictures. They really are peas and carrots. ;)

As they grow up, all they have is each other. They are kenneled together, released together, race together. They are each others support systems, best friends, protectors, playmates, etc. All they have is each other. Most won't even know what a toy looks like. But boy, they recognize other Greys!! When our group has our play date, they just go nuts seeing each other, think of it as a orphanage reunion. Even if they've never met, it's like they know somehow it's a group of greys and start doing their happy dance.

It of course it's easier on me to have a pair, as they entertain each other and keep each other company during the day when we are working.

Ah, can you tell I got Grey on the brain! :hahahaha:

Gail,
I have given thought to breeding dogs, what stops me is the thought of sending the pups home with people I wasn't absolutely sure about.
I guess would have a hard time deciding people we good enough for MY pups!
Gracie & Wallace were both from litters of 10; you can't keep all of them!
Was this difficult for you?

When we came back for our September trip.
Some of you know Gracie was really really sick.
She was so ill our vet offered to come to our house to put her down.
We had a friend with a tractor come and dig a hole for her.
A friend who didn't know of her condition sent me this e-mail on the Sunday morning when she was at her worst.

A dog's purpose (from a 6 yr old)
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish
wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their
little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping
for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we
couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia
procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good
for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane
might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family
surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time,
that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes,
Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty
or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering
aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me.
I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, "People are born so
that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the
time and being nice, right?" The six-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already
know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."
Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure
ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them
gently.
Being always grateful for each new day and for the blessing of you
ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

She is better now, still having some problems, but better. We just never know how long they will last. Give your pets a hug !
That e-mail was so timely, I thought I would share with you dog lovers!

I am so relieved to hear Gracie is doing better. I hope you have many many long days ahead together. :sunny:

I think each dog in our life is brought to us for a reason. There really is something we are to learn from our dogs, something to gleam from their life, and how they lived it.

I just found your doggie thread. I'm SOOOOO excited. Once I figure out how to post photos, I will totally post some of my pooches, even though I'm down to my new puppy.

I, too am totally crying right now. My red dobie, Simba died from stomach cancer at age eleven just a few months ago. I don't cry often, even though I need to sometimes. Stories like the one about the little boy just get me. I'll post a photo of Simba, who made several trips to WDW from Chicago with us. He was my hero, a real guard dog, protecting me from a stalker I had (former client go figure), and I will miss him terribly.

We kept Simba at the MGM kennel a couple of times, but it was too small. He was a very tall doberman, and weighed in at 95 lbs. most of his life. He couldn't stand comfortably in the crate. If your pet is small, the Disney kennels are good. Although you have to take the time to exercise your pet (Disney employees can't do it) they will let you come visit any time. I remember several times going there after a night a PI because I neede a doggie fix. They allowed me to walk him at 2a.m. and came to let me put him back an hour later. I love Disney service, the accommodations were just to small for Simba. Eventually, we found a good animal hospital that boarded him for $18 per day. It is called East Orlando Animal Hospital. They will let you come see him at any time, and we had several places to walk him nearby. Not a doggie spa, but nice.

Simba also went to HHI with us. I got a DVC discount at a doggie spa nearby. This was truly a "spa" where he had his own TV and a bed like a race car. They even had an ice cream social with other doggies and frosty paws! He loved the people there, too. Much more than any other place. We loved being able to take him on the beach, off leash, during the off season. We were allowed to park at the beach house, doggie in tow, and walk through to the beach. Nothing is better than a frolic in the ocean with your best friend.

If anyone else knows of good kennels near any DVC locations, I would be glad to hear them. We often travel with our dog-sitters, so we travel with our dog at times.

We now have a new black dobie puppy, Strider. He is 7 months and is an absolute doll. I have never had a softer dog. I call him the "velveteen puppy" because his fur is as soft as velvet. He is very calm for a puppy, doesn't chew stuff he isn't supposed to, and is very cuddly and lovey. His only issue is that he won't let me sleep in, either. Otherwise he is awesome.

I really have to get photos posted.

Rozzie

Ahhh Niki, I am so sorry about Simba. I had a red dobie, Rocky who was a awesome dog. He was a rescue, and we had him in between placement issues, but we enjoyed every minute we had with him. Dobies are great dogs, I sometimes find myself on Dobie websites, looking at puppies. We don't do puppies, but if we ever did, we'd get a dobie no question about it.

Losing your companion, your best friend, your dog is a pain that I have never been able to put into words. I know I grieved over my beloved Inky more than losing family members. I think it was Mar I was talking with and we both agreed that our dogs love us unconditionally, no strings attached. No other person on earth can love us unconditionally. It's just not natural. Our love with our dogs is a pure love.

Please accept my sincere condolences on Simba. I hope to see pictures of Strider soon. I know I got 2 new Greys immediately after losing Inky (who was my heart dog), and they don't take her place, but really helped my grieving process.

Thanks Rozzie for the thoughts. Sorry about your baby Inky, too. I know wounds like that never totally heal, but having enough love in your heart to fill some of it up with another dog helps alot. I have only gotten puppies, but my breeder just gave my buddy a 1 year old rescue. He loves it alot. Such a good dog.

My mom only gets rescue welsch terriers. Her last one Phoebe was terribly abused. She was from a puppy mill in Detroit. Her vocal chords were clipped and her tail broken and rubber banded down so that she could fit in a crate that was too small for her. She had several litters of puppies, more than was healthy. She didn't live as long as other welschies, but she stole all of our hearts. Simba and Phoebe were best pals. I'm sure she met him on the Rainbow Bridge. My mom and Phoebe were written up in a book about pets for handicapped people recently. If I can find it, I'll post the book, as well as the photo of her and my mom. That is, if I can ever figure out how to post a photo. I am sooo technicalogically challenged.

Don't feel bad, I just learned!! You know what I did that finally made it easy, was develop my memory card at Sam's on a CD. Then download their picture program into My Pictures (your computer will do it automatically when you put the CD in) , then upload them into Photobucket.

Sure hope to see some babies soon. My heart goes out to Phoebe. I just can't imagine the horrific life of those in the puppy mills. Makes me sick, absolutely sick.

Great name for your pup, especially for a doberman!
My sister had a wonderful doberman; when her kids were little the dog always would check on them before laying down, she had to make sure they were okay before she could relax.

Sorry about Simba, it is good to cry for them and remember.

Ok, citizens, you've brought the gopher up from the burrow - gotta post one of our Cassie. Not the best shot of her - we have in fact recently discerned she's VERY afraid of cameras!!(I think it's the little whiiiine noise it makes when I turn it on, and then the flash that scares her.) Anyway - I hope she gets over her phobia soon because I bought some really nice photo-xmas cards this year (has green border and some dogs by a xmas tree, inside reads, "May you share the holidays with those you love!" THought I would get a nice shot of the kids and teh dog together... but kids are hard enough to photograph without a camera-shy doggie! I have already begun to think of ways to camoflauge it - my son suggested hiding it inside a Velveeta box lid , LOL, that has a cut-out for the lens. "You KNOW how much she loves cheese, Mom!!" :lovestruc

Anyway - she's mostly border collie, though we suspect there's a good dash of jack Russel thrown in for laughs. A Jack was the ONE breed we were sort of trying to avoid - just a bit too high strung for our house, and too interested in critters like Mr. BUns for all the wrong reasons! Cassie LAssie as we call her (also known as "Poocherelli Mush-catelli, with the furry underbelly, sometimes clean, sometimes smelly... it's a whole song that has evolved. We're so weird.) Well, anyway - I've let her Mr. BUns out in our house with Cassie just ONCE because like an idiot I listened to DH who said, "Oh, the bun and Cassie LOVE each other." He is correct - Cassie DOES love Mr. Buns. She wants to herd him. But the feeling AIN'T mutual, so now, they are content to sniffle each other between bars. It's funny - even after the herding episod,e Mr. Buns is not afraid of teh dog. I swear, he is such a Pepe LePew.... probably thinks she's a big hunk-o-woman, and if only he could get her to stop chasing him in circles, they could make beautiful music together. Or at least, that's what he's always telling the 2 cats. Hopeless romantic, that one.... :kitty: :bunny: :kitty:

Cassie doesn't have the purest border "look" about her but holy toledo doess she have the personality. Does the crouchy thing a LOT. Herds kids. Gotta watch her, in fact, she will sometimes try to nip a heel if a person turns to leave her, waggin her tail the whole time, so I know it's a herdy thing... EXCELLENT moler (kind of weird for a gopher to have a dog good at digging up underground rodents, eh). Man the ENERGY. I absolutely HAVE to run the first half-block with her in order to take a true "walk" - she's just too too excited to walk on a walk, haha. We have so much fun in the yard with her - great speed, would really be an excellent agility trials dog. Can't seem to do frisbee, though - thinks she should be catching everything with her PAWS! Never EVER barks... well, ok, maybe once if there's a deer in the yard, or a really yappy chihuahua gets in her face. She sang to me once - was so glad to see me home from work, it was like she was teh Little Caesar's ad dog, saying "Ri RUvvv Rooo!" Too funny. Loves other dogs and people to death. We got her in May from the shelter, so we don't know her "true" heritage. Vet thinks she was about 7 mos at adoption, so she's perhaps a year old now. Her biggest vice: cat food. Loves it. I think it's also a "so there, puddy tat" kind of thing, too - cuz she knows we don't allow cat herding, either. All you have to do is say "cat food" and the look on her face is priceless - like a doggie apology, admitting guilt and begging for mercy all at once. Funny, cuz DH is such a big softie when it comes to her, he spent a whole wkend putting in an underground fence, and now refuses to use it on her now because he says she's "uncomfortable with it." In Cassie's eyes, I'm the alpha (told ya she was a smart doggie!) and Dh and DS11 are maybe equal or just a notch above her... dd7 is a "peer" and ds12... well, he's probably on par with the rabbit and cats!! Let's just say he's not real pet-savvy, poor dude. Her favorite thing to do: play alarm clock in teh morning with teh kids (LOVES to go to room to room, waking kids with kisses!) and "Look! I'm a Lap Dog!" where she tries to stuff all 44 lbs of herself into your lap... and Wedgeomatic... if you hug anyone, she just HAS to be the peanutbutter between your bread!

SO HERE'S SOME PICS....

Holy Cow Laura and Mararoooooooo, ya'll got some family tree thing going! The resemblance is AMAZING! It' one thing for same breed dogs to resemble each other, but 2 Heinz 57's 30 years apart!!!!!! Wow, yep, it's such a small world, our dogs are related to each other!!!!! :bouncingp Yeppers, Laura, you were one cutie. I love the Parka!! And the snow, WOW! :upsidedow

Gopher, what a cutie putie. Yep, she and Angel have similar back bods. Cassie sounds like she herds more than Angel does. She only does it every once in a while. Yep, and borders are champion Agility dogs for a reason. SMART and FAST! She sounds like a wonderful addition to your family. Let us know how the Christmas cards come out. I really would love to get my group together, but we never have the patience. Every year we try, every year they think it's a big game. The pics never turn out, one always has their head turned, the cat is always turned around with his butt to the camera. Groowwwl. :crackedup Loved the pic of Cassie with Mr. Buns too. A romance in heaven right? :hypnotict

Gopher you sure did a great job of introducing your Cassie! Sounds like she's well loved!

Gopher Cassie is both pretty and a total cutie. The pic with the bunny is terrific and LOL to the pepe le pew analogy! I never had a herding dog, hearing you and Roz talk about them is really interesting.

BTW you're not the only weird one. I have weird names and songs for all my pets, sometimes more than one song/name per pet. Chloe's song goes (one of her nicknames is Chloe-asetta, I forget why): She's a chloe-er she's a set-ter she's a good good girl and we love her very very much yeah yeah. :goob:

INKY: "Inky dinkie doo, where are you? gonna go eat some poop now..." also, "it was a tiny winnie yellow spot from little Inky, that we cleaned for the 3rd time today..."

Inky was the really the only one who had/has complete song sets. Gosh, I still find myself singing them to her urn.

Now nicknames, oh wow, let's see

Gracie (at bridge): Gracie Goober, Gracie Girl, mostly Goober.

Inky (at bridge): Inky Doo, Inkie Dinkie Doo Doo, Inky Dink

Angel: Boo-Boo, Pudding, Angel Pie, Pange, Pangel

Honey: Honey Pot, Honey Doo, Honey Vesper, Honey Dumplin

Tater: Tater Bait (almost always), TaterTot, Big ole Baked Potato, Tate

Pele the Cat: The pale, Pele Dumplin, and from me usually $&*#@!!!!!! :D

Gosh, I just love my BABIES!! :sunny:

Shes mostly Gracie O'Grady to me, or Great big girly dog.:lovestruc
I have sung to gracie to the tune of the Beatles "Lady Godiva"

Wallace is Ssshwwallace, Scwallace E. Dog, Scwallace Hemier, Der scwal :sunny:
"Rock the Casbah" is Wallace's tune!

Gary is Mr. Kitty:thumbsup:

Love it all Rozaroo, especially the itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini re-write. Took me a second, but then I could clearly hear it! :D

Here's mine:

JB (Bridge) Jabes, Jabaroo, Big Puppy, Jowel Face, Silky Jowels, Jabe-a-leaner (when she leaned on you), Berry Nose (my roommate at the time called her that, he loved berries and imagined how tasty a big fat great dane nose berry would taste, LOL). I had a very unimaginative song for her, but I still think of it every time I watch MASH. It was syndicated in my area at 11 when I had JB and every night I would Serenade her with (to tune of the mash theme) "JB is a berry nose, JB is a berry nose, JB is a berry nose, JB is a berry nose. I think you get the idea, heeeee.

Morticia (bridge, calico cat) Morty, Tish, Tissue Box

Belle (bridge, Morty's sister) Jelly Belly

Chloe is, in addition to the aforementioned chloe-a-setta: Weenie, Chloester and Chloe-a-lini-- There's a song for that one: Chloe a lini, Chloe a lini girl, Chloe a lini, best dog in the world. She's a chloe-a, she;s a lini, chloe a lini girl! (of course you need to know the tune to get the full effect, we sing it in a sort of operatic manner, LOL).

Madeline (our cat) is Maddy, Maddy-schwinn

Rainbow (Maddy's sister) is Rainy Face (and I sing "Baby Face" to her substituting "Baby" for "Rainy") and we also call herThe Bow-ster

Oh my goodness, we are all certifiable!! BTW I don't just do this with my animals. My kids all have ridiculous songs and names too. But that's another thread for another time!

I broke this news the other night on the Nothing Thread, but my too-much-Border-Collie-not-enough-Shepherd-and-Setter dog Renee actually pointed the other night!

POINTED!

It was so unexpected, I didn't even praise her immediately (though "Good point" seems to be about the most ridiculous thing on earth -- shouldn't the dog just DO that without the human having to encourage it??) Anyway, it was my first proof, other than the jumping when we come in the door, that there's any setter in this dog.

So, you Border Collie lovers, tell me what is so great about the breed. So far, I find her to be squirrelly and sneaky, which I'm not used to in my dogs. I don't know if that is a breed thing or just her still adjusting. I figure if you tell me what these dogs are known for, I can coax that behavior to the forefront.

Cool Nono, sounds so adorable!

Every now and then Chloe lifts one of her front paws and stares intently into the bushes when we walk. Although she doesn't point her nose it always looks "pointer-ish" to me. So I bet there's some of that in the ole' "heinz 57" girl somewhere.

MMnn. Mine is all how it relates to my world. :Pssst: If I am trying to put the cat up in his room (yep the cat has his own bedroom  ), I can yell "Get em!'" and she herds him right up to his room. He gets tricky, and tries to do the fakey lefty go righty, and she stays right with him. She doesn't do the "freeze" though much, only a very few times. Also same with the Grey's, she herds them too, but they usually don't make very good sheep. She gets real frustrated. :crackedup Also she is dern smart too, but that is found in all breeds. I don't believe in this breed or that breed is smartest yadayada. I really believe each and every dog is a individual, just like children. JMHO. :)

She's gotten into the border collie crouch just a couple times, and definitely not with the kids (thank goodness). Like I think I've said before on this thread, my D at 3 1/2 already totally commands the dog. She does do the FREEZE esp. when I say "Come" and it's often things she wants to do! (DUH) I've been working much on making her come on command, and right now, we're close to 90% there, but she did it again this morning! HELLO -- stay in bed if you aren't going to come downstairs and go out. :teacher:

I think perhaps Renee is very much a mixture and is still figuring out who she is. I have to keep remembering that she may be about a year physically, but she's only about 6 mo. mentally. As we are starting to train this week for our 10 mile race at the end of March, she's going to start getting a lot more running in, and maybe that will help give her more a sense of "job" that it seems like the border collies need. It'll help mature her too! :genie:

Ohhh how utterly adorable Rozaroo! They look like best buds, that's a great shot. :sunny:

The cats I have now do not like Chloe. They were here first and they see her as an invader. She'd like to be their friend, but they want nothing of her. But when I had JB I had a cat named Reggie, and those two were adorable together. She was a little teeny black cat, and seeing her wash a great dane's face was priceless.

Thanks Mararoo. I have to post one of Gracie, cuz' it didn't feel right to post all the babies except her. It's a horrible picture, we lost all our pics of the "old days" when one our computers got fried by lightning. Luckily we have a lot of them in photo albums (old school, right?), actually we have special photoalbums just for the dogs.

She was our first Greyhound, Gracie Girl. She was a big one, and was gorgeous. She didn't have a mean bone in her body. Inky had this so much spunky spunk to her sometimes, but not Gracie, she loved everybody, and the world was her oyster. Happy, happy, happy. All the time. Never knew a enemy. She was scared of her own shadow though, where Inky wasn't afraid of nothing. Like I said, same breed, each dog is so unique and different. Gracie passed away playing ball, we had just gotten her a new ball at PetSmart and Mr Roz was playing with her, and she had a heart attack. Scott still blames himself, and can't even talk about it. She was only 11. Really looking back on it, it really is the way to go. We were right with her, and she did not suffer not for a minute. (unlike Inky) We buried her with her new ball. :( We only had her for 6 years...

I took all my old photos and scaned them into the computer and then I printed them to put in the scrapbook. I also made sure that I copied them to a cd. Don't feel like having to scan them again. And, oh how true that they have such different personalities even in the same breed. But that is what makes each one special in there own way.

A thought for those who haven't done this before - once you have your photos in the computer, load them to a site like Shutterfly or Sony imageworks or similar. I have used both sites to create FANTASTIC hard-covered nicely bound books! You can add text, choose each page layout, and the covers are quite nice, too! Looks like a REAL book, LOL. And no scissors or tape or printer ink required! I usually load my photos, create my book and then LEAVE it in the system until a nice sale comes along (like free shipping or % off discounts on books, etc.) Perhaps I must be scrapbook impaired because I never could quite fit in with all my scrap-happy friends, but digital scrapbooks - now THAT was my cup of tea!!

I am hoping to make one of all our pets soon. I doubt our 2 cats will be "long of this earth", since they are already 17 and 16, and the guinea piggie won't be likely far behind, as old (5) and fat (mucho gordo little porker!!) as the little dear is....

PUPPY SIZE

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/mickey4ever/puppysize1.jpg

Puppy Size
This is one of the neatest stories. You will know
precisely what this little girl is talking about at the end (you'll
want to share this one with your loved ones and special friends)!

"Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to
this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since
we started all of this," the mother told the volunteer.

"What is it she keeps asking for?" the volunteer asked.

"Puppy size!" replied the mother.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/mickey4ever/puppysize2.jpg

"Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for."

"I know...we have seen most of them," the mom said in frustration...

Just then Danielle came walking into the office

"Well, did you find one?" asked her mom. "No, not this time,"
Danielle said with sadness in her voice. "Can we come back on the
weekend?"

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/mickey4ever/puppysize3.jpg

The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed,

"You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there's
always a supply," the volunteer said.

Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door "Don't
worry, I'll find one this weekend," she said.

Over the next few days both mom and dad had long conversations with her.

They both felt she was being too particular. "It's this weekend or
we're not looking any more," Dad finally said in frustration.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/mickey4ever/puppysize4.jpg

"We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size either," Mom added.

Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday
morning. By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the
section that housed the smaller dogs.

Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of
the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could
see the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/mickey4ever/puppysize5.jpg

Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to
take a closer look one by one the dogs were brought out and she held
each one.

One by one, she said, "Sorry, you're not the one”.

It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup.

The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up
the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.

"Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!"
she screamed with joy. "It's the puppy size!"

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/mickey4ever/puppysize6.jpg

"But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over the
last few weeks," Mom said.

"No not size... the sighs. When I held him in my arms, he sighed", she
said, “Don't you remember? When I asked you one day what love is, you

told me love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love,

the bigger the sigh!"

The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know
whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the child, she did
a little of both.

"Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come home
from work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find the
right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms," she said.

Then holding the puppy up close to her face she said, "Mom, he loves
me. I heard the sighs of his heart!"

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/mickey4ever/puppysize7.jpg

Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes you
sigh. I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in the
caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush of
cool air on a hot day.

They are the sighs of God, take the time to stop and listen; you will
be surprised at what you hear. "Life is not measured by the breaths we
take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

Oh Niki I am speechless!!!!!!!!!!! I want to run out and get another Dobie RIGHT NOW!! He is just gorgeous! :dog:  :loveisint

How did you find a breeder? I remember at one time I was going to get a Dobie out of upstate NY and have the pup flown. I was on the waiting list and everything for her litter, but in the end she ended up only having 2, which were not "pet quality" but show quality--and they went to the show quality waiting list. I was so heartbroken. There are not any really good (read responsible) Dobie breeders in this area. Yeah, billy bob has a litter in the paper, but errr. Won't go there. Just curious on how you found your breeder. Like I said before, I don't do pups, but if I ever did decide to do one, a Dobie puppy it will be.

Thanks for the pictures, Strider is so handsome, and I love his NAME! From LOTR, right?

Thanks, guys. He is a handsome boy. Our breeder is trying to convince us to show him in confirmation, as he is so pretty. As long as he doesn't get too big (my breeder tends to breed over-sized dobies) we just might do it.

I found this breeder in 1994. Chicago hosts a couple of great shows, IKC and AKC, as well as the Annual Pet Show and Rare Breed Show. We spent a couple of years going to these shows and looking for a dobie breeder. We doggie-sat for our friend's dobie and fell in love. At the AKC show we found a huge dobie named Bear. He was a little bigger than the others in the show, his head was huge, but he was well proportioned and absolutely beautiful. We met his owner Dawn, who explained that she showed dogs mostly on the east coast, where larger dobies were the norm. Bear had racked up quite the credentials by that time. We hadn't yet moved to a house yet, so we didn't purchase then, but hoped to soon. Fast forward to 1996. We had moved, travelled to Asia for a while and were ready to enlarge our family. Unfortunately, we had lost Dawn's number. So, we started to go to shows again. We were becoming discouraged because so many dobie breeders were complete wierdos. Some wanted us to promise to guard dog train. Others wanted us to "be careful" about this "agressive breed", as if that was what we really wanted, or possibly that we couldn't handle one as I had only owned small dogs. Others were just plain kookoo. Finally, while we were looking for a Rhodesian Ridgeback, we found Bear. He had such a distinctive face, you couldn't forget him. We followed him from the show ring to Dawn. She had just whelped a litter of puppies, available in 9 weeks. We went to visit.

Dawn lives on a farm in Central Illinois. Her mother greeted us at a swedish half door, with many large dobies barkin' their heads off. DH and I almost turned around, as the dogs just looked ferocious. We hesitantly approached the door, and Hazel told them all to sit. Miraculously, they all stopped barking and sat. Just like that. We came in, she freed them up, and they were all waggy tails and kisses. We knew we had come to the right place. This was the day I fell in love with Simba, the bestest doggie in heaven.

Since that day, I have referred three people to her to purchase puppies. When Simba was diagnosed with stomach cancer, I called her to tell her. She was so sweet and supportive. She totally understood, as Bear was her "heart" just like Simba is mine. Unfortunately, she had lost Bear and Doc (Simba's grandpas) and 4 other dogs on the same day after getting a bad batch of rabies vaccination. While I couldn't imagine how that felt, she talked to me about all of it and let me know that I wasn't alone. She is a wonderful, albeit a little eccentric, lady. She then told me her dog from Scotland had just sired a litter with her friend that lives close to my Mom. She promised me a puppy, even thoug she hadn't seen them yet to tell if they were show or pet quality. We told her we wanted another male, color didn't matter.

Strider had a great litter. All but one female were show quality, including our male. She said she picked him out for us because he looked alot like Bear as a puppy, as did Simba. As you can see, he is really pretty. OK, I'm a proud mama of my fur baby, but I just think he is lovely. The middle photo is his "puffy face" that he gets when he plays, but normally his face is just wonderful. We have only shown our dogs in obedience trials, never confirmation. We just might. For now, he is in basic obedience and is just our pride and joy puppy.

Rozzie, it is really hard to find a responsible Dobie breeder. There are so many genetic defects with the breed right now, such as cardio myopathy, brain tumors and hip displasia. Good breeders will test for these things prior to breeding their dogs. Strider has a clean bill of health. Simba was 11 when he got cancer, a good long life for a dobie. If you need a referral for a pup, I'll put you in touch.

Dawn also does rescue at times. In October, she got a rescue of about 1 1/2 years old. She called me to see if I knew anyone who would want him, free of charge, while I was at WDW. My friends from Louisiana jumped at the chance. The drove to Henry, Illinois a couple of weeks after getting home from WDW and picked him up. Dominic is a wonderful part of their family. So, if you are looking for a rescue dobie, I might be able to hook you up there, too.

Finally, someone who gets his name!! Everyone makes fun of Strider's name. When I say LOTR, they all just shake their head and say, "poor doggie." I think it is a noble name fit for a king. King of the sofa, that is.

Again, thanks for the kind words.

OMG I just love Miss Haley! But as you saw, I just love hounds. Whippets are such cool dogs.

I don't think I've updated on everyone, but I got me a Iggy (Italian Greyhound, a rescue from a puppy mill) to add to my herd. That makes 4 now for whoever is countin'. His name is Peter. He is a total riot, turns a year old this month.

Your Whippets are just beautiful. I really needed to see them right now. My buddy Tracy had four. I just found out yesterday that Gucci, my favorite, died last week. Her ornery one, Blue has cancer and won't live much longer. They are just such great companions. Feed these two babies some Kraft American cheese slices in rememberence of Gucci. That was her favorite.

Don't tempt me!!!! :lovestruc I'm really fortunate that Mr. Roz has a heart as big, if not bigger than mine. He has never said no to someone who has needed a home. There is a whippet that comes to the dog park, and it cracks us up to see him and Peter go at it. (Peter thinks he's a 100 lb Grey, I guess living with all of them has gone to his brain) I loved the pics of your bridge babies. I lost my heart dog last Oct, Inky to bone cancer. (it seems that Greyhounds really are prone to this) My border collie mix has actually become my heart dog now. She also thinks she is a sighthound. :D

Niki, I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Gucci and Blue. :worried:

Deb... your babies are beautiful.

I have lost , oh let's see, 8 wonderful companions, the first one was when I was 15 yrs old. My parents rescued Patsy when I was 2 1/2 so I grew up with her. She was my first best friend and 40 years after she crossed the bridge my heart still aches for her. She was a mutt and since her I have had a poodle (rescued from the SPCA), 3 german shepards ( 1 was from the SPCA) 2 yorkies & 2 havanese. Our present dog is a havanese (Maggie). We lost our first havanese (Bonnie) last year at the age of 3. They will all forever be in my heart.

This is a picture of my baby. Her name is Spanky. I rescued her from an abandoned mobile home park when she was a puppy. She is 14 years old now. Starting to feel her age. I can tell by the way she stretches her hind legs she has some arthritis in her hips. She can still run about 25 mph for a half mile at a time.

I was single when I got her. She was highly protective. Now that I am married, she recognizes Ian as the alpha dog and she has relaxed in her attentiveness: she is no longer hyper-vigilant.

She is a lab and chow mix. Really a great dog!

We call her Spanky because she wags her tail constantly. I did not realize it until I posted the picture that her tail is just a blur --- she was wagging it then too!

I bet you're right! I used to be active in greyhound adoption, but with my current work schedule, I had to step out. I really love the breed.

GALT ( Greyhound Adoption League of Texas ) are my heros!! Seriously, those folks rock! :clappingh They have a sweet little girl on their site named Coco. If I could, I would bring her home in a heartbeat.

I get my kids collar's here. http://www.greyhoundsputtinontheglitz.com/GreyhoundGlitz.html

They are velvet lined and really hold up well. For their coats, I have my 2 old coats from my first pair. They are nice and cozy, but they hardly wear them. It really never gets cold enough here to warrant them.

BTW, I just love the Jammie's pics. Too adorable. Makes me want to run out and get a couple pair.

I love all the pics and stories!!! I have to add a larger picture of my avitar. It is of my 2nd Sheltie, Jet. He is the second from the left end. I saw this picture on the internet and it was love at first sight. His little face just grabbed me. He was not for sale. I made the breeder's site one of my favorites and I checked back about 4 1/2 months later. He was for sale. We called and drove 2 1/2 hours to see him. He came home with us. He just turned 4.

I will have to find a picture of my older blue, Shadow. He is 13 and doesn't take great photos. Neither does Jet. Heck, maybe it is me! They just won't sit still!!!
