Hi,

I have some good news to report. I had the shock of our lives this morning. I got "the call" from Canine Companions for Independence. They have at least 2 dogs that are a possibility! I have to go down to Orlando on 11/4 for two weeks. I will graduate with my partner on my birthday (11/17.) I have to go because we have no idea when there could be another dog/dogs capible of doing what I need. I was hoping that she was calling for the feb class but they called for Nov. They must not be able to get people down there then.

Here's my problem. I'm fairly sure that I will not be going to WDW in December.:crymeariv :crymeariv I feel REALLY bad, but.....See my mom will have drive & going down there until 11/18 and coming home going back December & on top of that I have to go back in Jan. to get certified for a year. That's not even scheduled so I can't even plan for a week or something then yet.....sucks!!! Any pixie dust, rum or Jan advice.....I knew this might happen they told me 3 to 5yr wait & try to give me 3 months notice. HA! So I was hoping for next November and a little more notice! Oh well life doesn't happen that way!!! So, tomorrow afternoon we will be talking to them again confirming rescheduling everything. It will be good I know...but I was REALLY looking to the meet. We'll see, won't call MS until tomorrow

Life always happens for a reason, and you have been wanting this dog for so long. Think how your life is going to change for the better!!! :goob:

There will be other meets, and other trips. We'll think of you, but we are all so excited that your good news came so quick!!

One good thing about DVC, we are always going back!

Oh Allison....this is such wonderful news! But yes, it is also sad because we will be missing you so much in December.

I'm still hoping that things can be worked so you do your training and then you and mom and pooch all come directly over to the meet....and yes, sometimes miracles like that do happen. But right now, things are still wonderful in that you will have a new best friend! And I can't think of anything more powerful, more wonderful than that. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my dear friend!

Congrats Mrs. Sparrow!

Be sure to post pics of your new add on when you get him/her.

Too bad for the Dec trip, but you're still going to HHI right?

Although I am not around enough (and/or long enough?) to know the particulars, but "Congrats!" on your good news and "so sad" on your not so fun news....

We do have something in common, too - our birthday!! So, an advance happy birthday to a fellow Scorpio, too!

CCI is a great, great GREAT organization. I know that the disapppointment of missing a wonderful Disney trip will vanish the moment you look into that dog's eyes. Congratulations and best wishes to BOTH of you. Please post a picture of that terrific new dog when you can. (Is it a Lab?--curious for obvious reasons--LOL)

What a wonderful pic! I actually don't know what the breed will be. It could be a lab, golden or cross, male or female. I just know that they have 2 possibles for me. Oh I think I'd take the disney trip to bootcamp any day! Thanks!

I agree that once you meet your new best freind, the disappointment over the meet will be instantly forgotten!

I have a question for you, does WDW allow service dogs in the park? Will your new dog get to come to a future meet?
I hope so!

Allsion,
I am so happy for you, but sad that we will not get to spend time with you again in December.

Things happen for a reason.

Be sure to post a picture. Will they already be named when you get him/her?

It would be a shame if they culd not have a Cap't Jack related name!!!

Best of everything.

Chris,

Yes, He/she will be allowed. In fact, Disney is a financial supporter of CCI!! I might go on an outing there during the 2nd week. Thank goodness for APs!!!

That is wonderful news!

Along the lines of Kathy's post, do you get a chance to change your puppy's name?

Kathy,

I will post pics!!! The dog is named already. Each litter is given a letter of the alaphabet and then they are given names when they are given to the PR @ eight weeks. Right now I'm just hoping for something I can pronouce. Some of the names are out there.

How exciting for you! Of course we'll miss you at the December meet, but it's for such a wonderful reason that you'll be missing. So be sure to let us all see a picture (or several) after you get him.

I'm so happy for you that your special day is finally coming closer!! I agree, there will always be other times to meet the 'family' here if you have to miss the meet.

I am sure that you and your addition will be so busy getting to know each other and enjoying your new life together that you won't miss the trip as much as you may think right now.

You must feel wonderful though that 'someday' is quickly becoming 'today'

Best of luck to you and your mom and your new friend!!!! :sunny:

Hi,

Thanks for the support! As you can see in my sig, I canceled both vacations today. So that leaves me with a small problem. I have 48 points, 24 of them were burrowed & I can't only use them 60 days. All have to be used by the end of this Jan. CCI hasn't scheduled the weekend return that will take place in Jan. I wish I could have planned better....if I had known that I was higher on the list. I would have been more cautious to make ressie during certain times

I will take pics......I maybe working throughout the 2 weeks with 24+ dogs (12 people 2 dogs a piece)

Alison I suggest you try calling MS and explaining the situation. I would be surprised if they didn't let you "unborrow" the points, as these are certainly extenuating circumstances. Good luck! :sunny:
