Today's dispodcast had some interesting rumors that came from a strong base:
2009 Alaska cruise
2010 Hong Kong cruise - ship will stay in Hong Kong for summer
For 2009 DCL will alerternate 3, 4 and 7 night cruise out of Florida
These are just rumors so we will have to see what happens.

Right now the only thing I might be interested in would be a PC crossing. I know my DH would be interested in Alaska, but I'm just not sure about that. To me a vacation is to someplace tropical, not Alaska. But that's just me...

There's an article on the Orlando Sentinel suggesting DCL is unahppy with Port Canaveral and wants a better contract, or plans to move. I would be surprised if there were a Hong Kong based ship (even for a season) until the 3rd and 4th ships are out. I suppose they might do it as a test, but at this point, I suspect it's rumor.
I wonder if the 3,4, 7 rotating iteneraries is for the summer season on the Wonder when the Magic is in Europe or California? I can't imagine them doing that on a permanent basis. It would imply just one ship for the Caribbean and they already keep both ships pretty full for every sailing.

The Alaska cruise sounds great.
We have been thinking of doing a cruise, but thinking small boat, before the glaciers are gone! :sosad:

This rumour works out perfect for us because we're planning for a 2009 Alaska cruise with DVC via Holland America Line.:hyper::yes:
Totally understand how some might not consider Alaska a vacation, but it is an AWESOME place to visit and Alaska is my spouses dream vacation.
Gosh I would love HK to be a reality. Though the summer seems odd timing. :scratchch

I completely agree about Alaska! We took a two-week vacation this past May (my wife took me there for my 50th birthday) and this was a fantastic trip. The interior was spectacular as well as the cruise! Glacier Bay was beyond description, seeing the ice calve (spelling?), and all the wildlife.
If DCL starts offering this trip on its schedule, count me in!

Cool thx for the rumors!
I've been on an Alaska cruise...on the USS CALIFORNIA...a 600 ft nuclear powered cruiser. I would love to go again, but as a passenger; not crew. Glacier Bay was AWEsome; the park ranger came aboard and gave us the tour...just like on the cruise ship right next to us. I think the crusie passengers were taking a lot of pictures of us! I know they waved alot.
On that trip, I saw 9 Bald Eagles, 3 Moose, 4 Big horn sheep, 5 Bears, including a Grizzly, a salmon run (pretty tasty salmon too), numerous deer, and 3 glaciers. I also saw a forest of dead trees from when an earthquake lowered square miles of land into the ocean and had the most incredible smoked salmon ceasar salad in the dining car of the trans-alaska railroad. I celebrated the summer solstace in an all night festival in Spenard. All of this was on my 1 1/2 days off while there in Seward.
To anyone who thinks it is not a decent location for a cruise: don't go...there's nothing to see or do. :innocent: Heh Heh...that leaves room for me!:innocent:

An Alaskan cruise in May of 2009 would be perfect timing our 10th Anniversary. We'd planned to do a Disney Cruise to celebrate anyway. Hope this one is true.

I agree that Alaskan cruises are fantastic, from the Travel Channel specials I've seen. However, the ships have to be fitted out properly for them (think pools and outdoor activities sheltered from the weather). Anyone know if the new Disney ships will take colder climes into account? Since they're basically supposed to be larger versions of the Wonder and Magic, I don't remember reading those kinds of details.
As with all things Disney, I wouldn't anticipate anything until it's announced. As a mid-level CM said on our last trip when I asked a question, "This is Disney, nothing is for certain."

As they are now, I do not think so. I DO know that the Magic is scheduled for a drydock Fall 2008 which may leave room for renovations and preparations for cooler itinerary.

Yes.
When they do these special summer sailings with the Magic, that leaves just 3- and 4-nighters for the Wonder which a LOT of people have been complaining about.
