Hi all, may seem like a silly question
Whilst staying at SSR or OKW, where does one put garbage and recycling when it builds up between T&T/Full Cleaning days?
We were staying at SSR 3621 in The Springs and I walked the whole floor and could not locate a place to dispose of the garbage and recycling
thanks in advance
cheers

I actually asked this question of Mousekeeping when I was at SSR this past October. I was told to leave it outside the door for the next morning. :idontgeti Seemed kinda stupid and nonproductive to me, but what do I know???

I don't think there are any public dumpster-type facilities at SSR that guests can access. I think housekeeping just has to collect the bags as they pass by and take care of it themselves.
I've heard people discuss bags left outside rooms at OKW with some disgust, so I've always assumed there is a proper place to dispose of items there. Either way, it sounds like the resorts could do a better job of informing guests how to properly handle their trash.

tjkraz and kim, my thoughts exactly - glad to see I was not some kind of zombie moron wandering the halls of SSR looking for something that was not there
I felt like I was commiting a disney infraction by putting my trash once in the common garbage can on the main level - something about leaving the trash in the "hall" offends my sensabilities and sense of courtesy and hygiene

At OKW there are "rooms/closets" for trash and recycling on the first floor of every building. I always thought it was convenient to take the trash our everyday as we left out room.

There are trash/recycle closets at OKW in that little place that houses the elevators in the 3 new buildings.

Now I am suddenly wondering what hubby did with our extra bags of trash on our trip in December. :blech:
Actually, we were in the Paddocks at SSR and hubby walked around until he found the room down on the first floor. I didnt get him to describe it to me, but it must be marked and open (maybe the open part was an accident that day) and he made 2-3 trash runs that week.
I have seen the places marked on the OKW buildings (the two I have been in/around) so I am sure you can find them easily there by walking around the first floor on the parking lot side.

Thanks all for the replies - it sounds like there is a trash "room" on the ground floor of the SSR buildings - maybe next time down I will be go looking for it (Dec 06 trip)

Well, I put my trash away at SSR so hopefully it was in the trash room! :idontgeti (Main floor of Congress Park area)
At OKW I will admit that I felt a little guilty this past trip as I had three mailing boxes which I couldn't squash down enough. I felt bad messing up the trash room at our home!

I'll check when I go this weekend and take pictures. I think this information will be good to add to the basic resort information pages.

Pictures of the trash room - that should be funny - please do not make them too explicit!

I love that OKW has these areas as I am a tidy freak and take the trash out daily. When we stayed at BCV this summer I was LOST -- didn't know where to put the trash as the staff rooms are all locked. A few times the housekeepers told me I could leave it with them. Having the "self serve" rooms makes sense!

PolyColleen, there are trash rooms at BCV that are not locked - I think they are near the junction of the "Y" layout
