DD took my truck out yesterday for a bit and got into quite the "fender bender" Shes just 16 so she had quite the scare. She didnt hit another car (thank god) but was avoiding another vehicle and hit guardrails and an embankment. Truck has been towed and estimate of between $3,500- $5,000 - UGGGHH...

She wasnt hurt but is still quite shook up- Im sure I will be quite shook up myself when I see the next insurance bill! :faint:

I'm glad DD is okay!

Reminder her that cars/trucks can be fixed, that she can't be replaced, and hug her!

Also, get her a nice used junker to drive in, after you get your truck repaired!

Find your happy place. Find your happy place.

I'm glad to hear that she was avoiding hitting another vehicle. That shows that she has some smarts while driving. I imagine a lot of kids her age don't have those kind of smarts.

And I'm very glad to hear that she's not hurt.

Thanks guys- :grouphug: It must have been a VERY tough phone call for her to make to me- Every parents nightmare- your kid calling to say shes been in an accident. I did tell her that everything will be ok and the important thing is that shes ok. Thats all that mattered to me. When I finally asked about the car she told me...."Well it could probably just need a little paint" So I was a "little" surprised when I saw it! :holymoly:

Well maybe some bailing wire, scotch tape and a little paint!

It seemed I lived fender bender to fender bender when I was young. Some my fault, some not my fault. The worst was when they were in Vegas and left me alone in High School (know where this is going) and I was out with a boy I was not supposed to be with and we got into a wreck. Imagine that phone call!!!!!!!!

I am so relieved to hear DD is okay, I bet she was really scared, poor thing, I still remember how I thought it really was the end of my life. Give her a hug from us, and tell her we are so glad she is safe and sound. :grouphug:

Thanks guys- Shes doing MUCH better- Allready asking about trusting her with the truck again- told her we will discuss THAT AFTER I get it back from the autobody shop! :zipit:

I have certainly had my fair share of auto accidents- The worst was when I flipped a '70's Opal upside down and skidded down the highway on the roof . Wasnt pretty but I was able to walk away. Dont know how I was able to get out of the mess but that was in my "skinnier" days - :upsidedow

I am glad your daughter is OK. It stinks about the repair bill. As a parent I can relate to how you must of felt getting that phone call. As a person who was once 16 and totaled a car I can relate to your DD.

Like others have said the truck can be repaired.

sending some pixie dust your way

Yeah, Laura, when I saw those pictures I knew it was going to be somewhere around the $5,000 mark. So actually you got off $200 cheaper than I thought it would be (hehe).
Just glad Casey's allright. No drugs, no alcohol involved. So it was an innocent accident, but I'm sure she'll be a little gunshy to get behind the wheel again. So let her know it's happened to all of us and maybe go out with her when she gets behind the wheel again.

For me it's my worst nightmare that my sons would be in a car accident---think it has something to do with my many car accidents in my YOUTH.
Hope all goes well,,,
