Everyone, be sure to also check out the dining reviews. There is only 1 reivew there right now for Kona Cafe, but I'm hoping there will be more in the future.

My goal is that as there are more Mouse Manager users, they can rate and review restaurants (sort of Amazon style) so that when you are all planning ADRs in the future you can not only read menus, but also see what other people think.

Here is the "mini" rating you see on the menu:

http://www.mousemanager.com/dining/resorts/polynesian/poly_kona_cafe.shtml

Here is what you see when you click through to "read latest reviews":

http://www.mousemanager.com/cgi-bin/rs/redqueen/do/redqueen.cgi?module=supplier&supplier_id=140&yellowpage_id=21

Here is where you can register on the Mouse Manager site, to be able to enter your own ratings and reviews:

http://www.mousemanager.com/cgi-bin/rs/redqueen/do/redqueen.cgi?module=edit_member&skin_id=default

Thanks again to all of my Mouse Owner friends!

My Kona Cafe review is looking pretty lonely out there. Ian, did I ever tell you that I started writing software to avoid writing. :D

It is very cool to see Mouse Manager released. I can remember simply offering to proofread point charts and somehow I ended up writing a point chart generator as well as figuring out how to make FileMaker plug-ins.

The great thing about Mouse Manager is that it has been trip tested. Our 12 day trip this August really highlighted how nice it is having all of those trip details in one place.

I downloaded mine this morning. I already have everything in there that I have scheduled so far for our December trip. I really like the idea of having everything there and being able to just print it out for our trip. Thanks so much for all the time you have put into this.

Hi iankh
CONGRATS!!!
I am going to give it a go tomorrow--not that I question it's greatness but I question my ability to install it so I'm going to get the computer son to help me . Thank-you for taking all the time and effort to develop this program and share it with others.

Thanks!

I've spent the past 15 months developing Mouse Manager, mainly on weekends, having to teach myself a lot as I went along. It started off being a calculator and grew, and grew, and grew along the way.

I already have some things planned for the next minor release and I've started thinking about the next major release. I have some big surprises in store!

Mouse Manager started out on the drawing boards as a calculator. Then I started to think about how I keep everything on scraps of paper, and how nice it would be to have everything in one place with tidy printouts.

I'm hoping that people register on the website to rate and review restaurants. I think it will be a great asset to be able to read restaurant ratings and reviews while planning ADRs.

It looks beautiful. Congratulations on all your hard work! :woohoo:

As soon as I have time I'm gonna add all our trips onto it.

Here is another two  to Ian and Mouse Manager. When I installed it this weekend I put the icon on my screen near my other Disney related programs. I realized that MM takes the place of 4 other programs I was currently using. They were all good programs, but one did the daiily plans for me, one told me how many points I would need for a trip, and one let me keep track of my point usage, banking, and borrowin. And I was using Excel to keep track of my master packing list as well as any modifications for the current trip. With Mouse Manager I can keep track of everything in one place. I also found it pretty easy to use.

Thanks again Ian.

Hi - I just downloaded Mouse manager and it looks like it will be pretty helpful in managing DVC reservations, since I've had to rent out my points the past two years. Looks really handy.

Is there a place to download the points.fp7 file so the Import Points feature will work? (So far I can't locate any point charts.)

Otherwise I'm enjoying playing around with it. I love the Packing List!

Good Luck-
Vickie

Vickie,

Mouse Manager comes complete with the DVC points tables through 2008 and the Disney Collection tables through 2007. You don't need to use the import points feature at this time. That is used when I publish update tables.

I will make update tables for DVC for 2009 and 2010 and the Disney Collection for 2008 shortly after DVC publishes them.

But, for now, everything you need is there.

Go into the resort booking area - and try a ressie - it will figure points for you!! There's not a 'chart' of points to look at.

This is a great, not so little program!!

Have fun!!

There are not actual point charts in Mouse Manager but rather tables that are used to calculate the points for a booking. If you make a points resort booking, Mouse Manager will calculate the points.

If when you create the resort booking record you use the status of "Planned" it will not take any reduce your available points balance. That way you can "play" and experiment, but not impact your points.

Hi Ian - Thanks for that. Now I have to play around with it. There are couple little things I have to mention I thought were handy so far. I like how the current date is circled if you click on the calendar. I really like the ability to reduce the image size using the controls at the bottom left of the screen, as I run 800x600 screen resolution most of the time and I hate dealing with the constant side-to-side scroll bars.

Great job Ian, downloaded and put in all my past/upcoming trips already, very easy to use and navigate.

I write software requirements for a living, use to do coding but more Unix oriented than Windows/Mac stuff. You've put alot of effort into this it is obvious, thank you for your time, you will certainly be seeing some support from this end.

If I can help in any way please let me know.....

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Mouse Manager 1.0 took 15 months to develop, partly because I am not a programmer and had to teach myself along the way, and partly because I kept tweaking it based on input and suggestions from the early testing team.

I was a little nervous when I launched, because it was a little like sending my baby out into the big world. So, it's so nice to see that folks like it.

Please help spread the word about Mouse Manager and also consider rating and reviewing restaurants on the Mouse Manager site. It will build a great tool for everyone.

I'm having difficulty entering my day to day trip plans. I entered my reservation then went to vacation plan. My new trip plan name appeared in the drop down but what was on the screen was a previous trip plan. I couldn't figure out how to get a blank screen to enter my new plan. Then I couldn't get back to "lists" or "main menu" and had to exit the program completely. I've entered 5 other vacation plans but can't seem to get this new one done. What am I doing wrong?

How many days is the plan? There is a known issue in the Windows version that only impacts the creation of a 2-day plan. But, I do have a work-around if that is the case. Create a 3 day plan and save the plan, then change the plan from a 3-day plan to a 2-day plan.

I've already fixed the problem here at Mouse Manager Laboratories. The fix will be in the next version.

Again, this only impacts a vacation plan of a 2-day length. Plans with a length of 3 to 21 days are fine.

I would have had this new version out earlier, except I had not received the new points charts from DVC until about the second week of January!

I don't know why I received it so late? But, I was dependent on it to see what the season dates are for 2009 and to see the Disney Collection points for 2008.

I'm just happy to be able to get out a new version and to also be introducing some new enhancements.

Ian -

Great news! I use mouse manager, and it has been awesome. We have an upcoming trip to WDW for DD25's wedding -- and Mouse Manager has been invaluable for coordinating different guest's arrivals, accommodations, meals, etc. Looking forward to v1.1. :D
