We just returned Tuesday from a 10 night stay at OKW with our "kids" and our son's new fiancee'! We were 5 in a 1 bedroom for NYE, since we didn't want to spend the 100 points for a 2 bedroom that night. We were in 2121 and it was ready when we arrived at 2:30 PM and was in great shape. We were hardly in that room though, since we headed out to Epcot almost as soon as we arrived.
We had a wonderful time touring in the Japan pavillion, listening to the drummers, looking at the tin toys and shopping before our dinner reservation at Mitsukoshi teppanyaki dining rooms. I was a little disappointed that the menu was a set one for NYE, but we had a wonderful chef who was a frustrated gunslinger! I got the lucky shrimp tail on my plate.
Because we had someone who needed an ECV this trip, we were able to reserve a spot for Illuminations in the handicapped section. They took reservations on a first come basis, and we had a wonderful spot right next to the Rose and Crown! The NYE fireworks were very good, with each country doing a count down and fireworks prior to the big countdown. Our DS popped the question right at midnight, so we will soon have a new daughter-in-law! It was great to share that moment with them!
On Sunday, we moved to our 2 bedroom unit...1513. This is a ground floor room directly below the GV we stayed in last year. The first few days we had noisy neighbors up there, but when the new ones came in, they were nice and quiet. It was nice to be on the ground floor with the ECV, and we didn't even ask for it. Our DDIL to be broke her back a couple of years ago, and can't walk or stand for long periods of time.
Bus service was absolutely stellar this trip! We hardly ever waited more than a couple of minutes either at the resort or at the parks. One day we waited about 20 minutes at Epcot, but that was a fluke.
For the first time, I had a housekeeper knock on the door at OKW. She knocked on the morning of our full cleaning. I laughed it off and said she just blew her tip. It didn't happen on T&T day. I made sure I stripped the beds and called them when we left on our final day.
While there were occational lines at check-in, and one rude guy behind the desk on Saturday night, most of the OKW cast was wonderful as usual. We had the BEST waitress at Olivias, and the girls at check-in were good too.
