We have been thinking about taking a DCL cruise for a few years now and have finally booked ourselves on one of the 4 night "Double Dip" Cruises next summer!!! :clappingh :clappingh :clappingh We are booked on the May 25, 2008 sailing in cabin 6634 which is one of the "secret veranah rooms". DH, DD and I can hardly wait to spend two days on Castaway Cay and we have also booked a room at the Comfort Suites across the street from Atlantis so we can spend the day at Aquaventure. I had hoped to book a room at Atlantis but as of now they don't have any rates out for the end of May so I decided to just book the Comfort Suites for now. Only 8 months to wait now!!!!

I'm so jealous! So, did you use points or is it better
to just pay for the Cruise outright? We have been
talking about doing this for yrs., I think our kids are
finally old enough to "cruise".:flowerfor

We are paying cash. We don't own enough points yet to use them for anything other than trips to WDW.

Congratulations on the cruise! We went in January and loved our DCL experience. How exciting to get a "secret" verandah. You're going to have so much fun!

LovetheBoardwalk,
We used points for our cruise. Although you do get more bang for your DVC buck if you use your points at a Disney Resort. (We'd been saving points to do Alaska with Holland American Line... but alas.... couldn't do it and were in a DVC use or loose situation!)

If you estimate your DVC points have a dollar value of $10/point you might find that you would "pay less" for your cruise by purchasing the cruise with cash and renting your points to someone else. Or if you're lucky enough to have the vacation time.... you can go to WDW also !:woohoo:

We are so excited about our first cruise. We are going on the 4 night cruise December 2-6... this is also Mousefest, which we have never attended before. Can't wait!!!

Has anyone else attended Mousefest ... either sea or land portion?

We are paying cash for the cruise since it seems to be a better bang for our buck ... plus we keep using our points up going to WDW. :bouncingm :bountigge :bouncegoo :bouncstit

I've been to all four Mousefests (2003-2006) and two of the cruises (2004, 2006). I like the cruise part of Mousefest better. Smaller (about 200-300 people) and you can get to know people better. While I have done a couple really neat things on land, I don't like dragging my family around to go to Mousefest meets on land -- we have our own agenda. I do really enjoy the MegaMouseMeet at the Dolphin each year; that's a Don't Miss!

We are not going on the cruise this year, but I think you will really enjoy it!

Thanks erikthewise for the MouseFest info. It looks like we will only be able to attend 2 days of the land portion, which means we will miss the Mega Mouse Meet :tearsaref I love hearing how much you enjoy the sea portion though.
